At least the wife in the ad is encouraging. According to my daughter (now 22yo.) my ex would get upset and tell her that I was away on a 6 month deployment because I wanted to be; and could come home if I wanted to. Needless to say she had some mental health issues.

It's funny (not so) how the women of Alaska need emergency assistance because there numbers for homelessness suicide and alcoholism are similar to those of men in the lower 48 and somehow the tone of the piece makes it sound as if men are at fault...WTF? BTW. the pay differential probably has something to do with the type of work available in alaska, ie. dangerous, physically demanding, and/or exposed to the elements.
