Thank you so much! : ) I want to add that at the time I was hearing so many guy friends make the "seeing how it goes" comment was also when I caught an early Chris Rock comedy special. He poked fun at "Why do white people always get themselves into these situations, like long distance relationships? Y'all are just gonna break up anyway!" That's not verbatim, but it made a huge impression. I wasn't able to find that exact one, but here are two worth watching: Long Relationships and Commitment Dil…

Whenever I hear "living together", it makes me so worried for the woman's sake. That's not to say it doesn't work for all unmarried couples (couple gets engaged and move in together), although the glaring majority - this sub, indirect experiences- has shown that it is a MESS. Also, I wanted to wait to properly respond to your comment so I could dig up this article I found on - of all places- the AITA sub. It was from 2013 and although I saved it from a thread I was on two months ago, I couldn't …

Thank you so much! I'm blushing : ) You and I wouldn't have been the only ones having that guy wear drinks and plates! I should mention that her personality was more quiet and reserved, only not for the reason of the mortifying comments he was making. More than a year later, the same friend whose wedding I was at held an open house party. Guess who was there? His girlfriend was still with him (bleh) and he was just as boisterous. I hoped that she had maybe considered everything that happened at …

Yes! I was embarrassed for her. The couples across from us seemed very put off and alarmed, especially when the boyfriend went so far as to bash the tattoo she had on her wrist which was new at the time (it depicted a shark with a harpoon through it for awareness for sharks being killed for its fins). What I noticed is how three women were totally disgusted, yet their husbands were the ones trying to say, "Honey, snap out of it, he's making a fool out of you in front of strangers!"

He was an absolute nightmare. He even went so far as to threaten to break up with me because I wasn't budging. I just told him, "Okay, there's the door". That's the other thing: When a guy thinks the relationship is so important to you and uses it as a bargaining chip to whether he stays or goes. That's not a man worth everything that goes along with having a future. I want to read more thoroughly the one that OP linked to. Having space and your own hobbies is healthy. One of the biggest lies me…

Unmarried people should not be combining finances either! Don't let him spend your money. Any situation I knew of where the boyfriend and girlfriend moved in together went to hell. Most of the time, one ended up cheating on the other, but the money aspect made it a mess. God forbid these people bought a house.... Alright I need to stop. A few years ago I was at my friend's wedding reception. I was seated at the friend table and ended up being next to a couple the same age as me. The guy struck m…

When you give up your space, you also give up your independence. I've said this before in this sub: The relationship subreddit and "Am I The Asshole?" is chock full of these people who move in together. The couple ends up being together for six, even ten years (?????) and the girl wonders why the guy starts acting weird. The majority of the time the woman's ever loving has long checked out of the relationship and is carrying on another relationship. It's no skin off his back because he's got hal…

...saying they should have "picked better", they should have known he was a dead beat POS... Lets not forget the guys who knock up their girlfriends and cry, "IT'S NOT MINE! SHE CHEATED!" Ladies and gentleman, we've got a runner! Not only guys, but there is something to say for women who also adopt that mindset. I have seen these women in action firsthand and they are just as toxic as their male counterparts. And if it's not the guy who comes up with that, it's a woman who stuck it in his head. …

I was reading this last night! No HVM would let their partner be in pain and respect their partner's body's limitations. The point in the background where she talks about how she ended up having two more babies after the first ravaged her body (not verbatim) came off strongly to me like a lie her husband told her about "how great it would be for their first child to have siblings". Even more was how -at least how I read it- the intention was only to have one child. If that were me, I would not h…

You reminded me of something I saw on the "Am I The Asshole?" sub a couple weeks ago. The submission was about this guy who was upset that his wife wanted a gift after having their second or third child. The comments were all up in arms about "push presents" and how it's basically like a wooky button for the woman. Well shit, if I pushed or had a human cut out of me, damn right I want a token of appreciation after my body goes through all of that trauma! People reward themselves for the stupides…

See, this is what I am also conflicted on. I can understand the sentimentality, although it needs to be conversation between both people, not something that one person just goes off and does. One of my friends dated this girl for ten years and asked her how she would feel about an heirloom as her engagement ring. She wasn't about it. Honestly, I at least want the option of choosing my ring. For me, I don't like the idea of "taking" what belonged to someone else, living or dead. I had a boyfriend…

Are they outside of a gym or something? 🤣 A few months ago, there was a thread on the "Am I The Asshole?" sub where this guy got proposed to by his girlfriend. Apparently she organized a party with their family and friends to do this in front of them and he said told her it was embarrassing. Well, she got upset because she organized the shindig and felt like a fool. They were together for six years or some obscene number - I wish I could find the thread- and he was just, "What did I do wrong? It…

I see your reasoning and understand why you choose to pass those people. It's frustrating to have to keep encountering riffraff when you're there for a completely genuine reason. However, my friends, guys and girls alike, who have listed their career on their profile encounter this endless cesspool of people pushing these hard luck stories ("My boss screwed me over!") and using dating apps as a medium to beg for money from strangers. One of my teachers explained the encounter with run-on sentences in a way I'll never forget. They said that when writing, read the sentence out loud. If you find yourself catching your breath, you need punctuation. Sometimes, though, you'll read something without punctuation that makes you feel out of breath!

More and more I'm glad that it's catching on that the guys using this blunt approach -or even a raunchy one- is such a losing proposition. Over of my friends just had a similar situation to the screenshot (I'll have to see if she still has the texts). The guy messaged her, "Hey", she responded with pleasantries. He replied that he wanted to use her for free, cum on her face, etc. She told him that definitely wasn't happening, so he replied with a frown and that he was "just going to jerk off lik…

I had an especially good laugh with this one. One of my exes was paragraph texter and this was how he broke up with me. We were together for 8 or 9 months and he told me he "didn't understand the concept of others' feelings because he was a diagnosed sociopath when he was 8". (???) I never saw what he described while we were together except for the time I reminded him that it's not a good idea to drive through fog with high beams on. He argued with me that nothing happens 🤦 When he broke up with…

We had been together for over five years. We had issues that festered - going out on a date meant I was staring at the top of his head while he dicked around on his phone- that he didn't see any importance in working on. That fact aside, the friend who he lived with called me one day and told me my ex was awful to live with. A few months later, his friend asked him to move out because he just proposed to his girlfriend. Him and his friend weren't even under the same roof for six months when my e…

I commented above that I should have been more specific. The new guy I talked to for a month and went on two dates with. The first guy I was with for over five years. That was the first time in all of our relationship that he ever asked me to do his laundry. I was aware -at least from what my ex told me- that his friend would overload the washing machine to the point it would stop. Then when it actually broke the washing machine I could understand the urgency and thought there was nothing wrong …

Admittedly I'm guilty of this, but it ended up being a great experiment. An ex was living with his best friend when their washer broke. He called me frantic because his work shirts were in there. I had him come over and I did his wash while he watched TV. Mind you he didn't bring over the detergent he wanted, so I used the stuff made specifically for gym clothes since his work shirts were partially Spandex. The next day he sent me a lengthy text cutting down how I washed his clothes. I fondly re…

Because guys like this think that they're sending a friendly reminder "Did you know you're still single?" and thinking it will lead to "hey, let's bang it out", hurr durr. Guys like this are part of the reason to stay single and be extremely picky. My friend had a guy -who was married, by the way- constantly text her crap like this. Right?? I'll try and find it again, but somebody in the comment section one of the AITA threads linked to this exceptional article from 2013 about why buying a house with a boyfriend/girlfriend is a terrible idea. Side note: I had a boyfriend who begged me to buy his parents' house with him so we could "save our relationship"! I'm not defending Elon, although I can't stick up for Grimes. Either by pure ignorance or drugs that they were both on, she decided to have a child with him. The name of their child aside, yeah, he's got billions upon billions of dollars, but rarely does anyone hear about his five or six other children. Amazing how they all just don't "exist" now... It fits with the "porn sick, limp dick" ideology. There are guys who firmly stand by the "image" you described. Absence of hygiene is an absolute deal breaker for me. I'll throw in one: I had started seeing a guy I was in school with. One day he invited me over to his apartment and when I asked to use his bathroom, well, let's just say I was NOT prepared for when I flipped the light on. His countertop and sink alike were littered with beard trimmings. Immediately I noticed the absence of toilet paper. I hated feeling like I had to snoop for it, but when I opened underneath the sink and found nothing, I wa…

I told her as much! I was like, "Look at how many opportunities you had 🖕👈👉!!" She said she's just letting it seem like what he says flies over her head and let him deal with the fallout when his wife decides to go through his phone.

The problem is she's only ever seen a picture of his wife (that he sent her of the two of them, go figure) and it was a far away picture. My friend couldn't even get ahold of "Ashley" if she tried on Instagram because there are literally millions of Ashleys. The guy replaced his Facebook with Instagram, but even that he only posted once on, so it's not like my friend could cross reference that way either.

I pointed out that statement to her, too. I told her that alone is an admission that he knows what he's doing is bad. Then the mf'er has the nerve to send her a picture of his pajama pants and bare feet and his dog on the other end of the couch. Dude, the fact that you're acting like a dog and now you're sending a picture of your pet isn't a condom for the conversation.

They think you'll look past that attached status to be their therapist. Hey man, that's all you; three's a crowd. It goes both ways. I've dated guys who have encountered Pickmeishas with the same disposition as the guy in the texts. They try to plant the seed of doubt that you're secretly so dissatisfied with your relationship, so why not let me distract you? They see the game a mile away and don't care if the girl calls them an asshole. Thirsty is thirsty. By the way, I've met the guy in the te…

That's like this guy! Is he still with her, as in, he hasn't proposed? Then shame on her, too. It takes a situation like that for an aptly nicknamed "future wife/dog mom" to adopt an FDS right away. Good on you for shutting him down. There is no excuse for that sort of treatment on either end.

Do yourself the biggest favor and do not put yourself through this. I'm not discriminating against people who go through depression and anxiety, although there are varying degrees of whether or not someone is just using those terms to mask how they treat those around them. Five years ago I was in your situation. I adored this guy, envisioned us getting married, but he was constantly threatening to harm himself. It was emotionally exhausting not being able to sleep with the fear that he harmed hi…

He contacted her twice in the same day. Clearly he didn't take the hint when he was left on read earlier.

Yes! I mentioned in another comment about Jorge and Anfisa. He told her he had money, Anfisa comes to the US under this guise, then she finds out when they meet with a realtor the truth. Anfisa countered, "Jorge, why did you tell me you had money?" So who is really in the wrong here?

You're not wrong! Your comment cracked me up. I'm not one for YouTube channels, but h3he made a fantastic -albeit hilarious- video based on a couple from 90 Day Fiancé called The Honest Golddigger. If you don't have it, don't put it out there.

Exactly. I have never, ever lived with anyone I dated, even when the guy begged me to. Once you give up your space, you also give up your independence.

I totally agree with the emotional manipulation. I know a guy who has been with this girl for going on 12 years. He has proposed to her twice and she turned him down each time He's a HVM. The fact that he's wasted too much of his time, money, and youth on this bitch is an absolute shame. The subject came up between myself and a mutual friend of ours. I said, "If she was serious about him, she would want a future with him." The conversation turned pretty heated as the mutual friend countered that…

This is an example of a person who treats their partner like a convenience, hence disrespect. I was in a relationship for more than five years. I poured heart, soul, everything into it and he was perfectly happy with constantly burying his face in his phone when we were supposed to be spending time together. It aroused suspicion in me, so he gaslighted and told me I was the one causing us problems. In the meantime, he began bringing up marriage and I was seeing the writing on the wall on how the…

Good gracious that is awful. Your story reminded me of when I dated a guy who was going to be a groomsman. Here, groom's brother hired two escorts -who happened to be begging for Xanax- for the bachelor party. Guess who went behind closed doors? Leading up to the wedding, one of the other groomsmen had the nerve to say, "Oh, well, apparently he does this when he goes out of town on business trips. After his wife had their fourth child, their sex life really dried up!" So you're empathizing with …

I cannot agree with you more! Until my other comment gets approved, I had the same issue with the person I mention there. Because of his diet and how he wasn't taking care of himself overall, that aspect of our relationship suffered immensely. He would get winded wayyy early into things and then that was it. He just didn't have the energy and it made me tired trying to come up with solutions to help him. Like, you have the components to change your habits, yet you flat-out refuse to for your own…

I agree and disagree with this in the vein that not all men's diets consist of bacon, steak, etc. I have dated men who weren't afraid of a smoothie, salads, and quite honestly trying a variety of foods. What I have found is that (certain) men are eager to try something different when their partner is also eager to. They don't want to dislike something and disappoint you, especially if they really like you! Whether we went out, cooked together at home, or took a cooking class (highly recommend as…

This is worse than the other one I read the other day where the guy got his girlfriend of three/four years pregnant. He had the audacity to ask her to have an abortion, then when she refused, he accused her of "intentionally getting pregnant" (see: trapped). He didn't think he was the a-hole. Read it if you want to go into outer orbit. I can't understand for the life of me how women let men railroad them like the ones in both posts. If they don't have a driver's license and are "between job oppo…

It's unbelievable how many people just choose not to brush their teeth. If you know your breath is bad, so do others. I found out the hard way on a first date. He wasn't really showing his teeth like laughing or smiling, so I knew something was up. At dinner, he kind of slipped and that's when I saw that his teeth were yellow. He didn't kiss me while we were in the movie, yet he chose to sneak attack me for a first kiss in his car. His breath was revolting. My head swam, but it was when my tongu…
