You raise some really good points. I'm almost positive that Reddit wouldn't allow it, no matter the worthiness of the cause because there is a "pool" of money, making it a lottery of sorts. I think /r/millionairemakers works because the donations go directly to the winner. No pool. I would love to do it, it is such a worthy cause and would really help people who need it. Don't make it illegal outright. But for fuck sake make it illegal to do it to a child. If it is a way of showing devotion to your faith then surely a grown man deciding to do it himself when he is able to make the decision is far more telling of their love for their religion than having it done to a child by a man with no medical degree and in unsanitary conditions.
