I'm not what? I don't think there is one right answer here, it should be between her and her boyfriend. Also, there's been some hostility in this post in response to some of the comments. We can't have a safe, productive place to talk about things if people get snide comments for offering their two cents.

Fair enough, it doesn't sound like you are worried about that. Other people's warnings are what I was talking about. Honestly, I think the best advice anyone can give you is to only go if you receive your boyfriend's blessing. Some guys are comfortable with their girlfriends going on vacation without them, some aren't. I would say that I'm a RP relationship and my husband would have no issue with it whatsoever. But some would, and that's fine. It's really dependent upon the two of you.

This is by far the strangest post I've seen in this subreddit when it comes to people's advice. I mean, I'm not the most red pill woman out there (I'd say 80%), but it seems people aren't reading the post. That's all I can assume based on all the "don't go" advice. Also, if a guy you've been with FOR A YEAR is going to demote you to a casual relationship because of a 2 week trip, why would you commit yourself to that person in the first place?

The vacation isn't until next summer. The relationship will be well-established by then. True it doesn't mean she won't cheat (or he won't plate her), but their relationship won't be "new" anymore.

I don't mean to sound argumentative, but this trip isn't until next summer. Their relationship will be about a year old at that point. If she thinks her relationship might die and not recover after a year of dating, she has bigger problems than trying to decide about going on a 2 week trip.

I don't really understand how not going would be beneficial to your relationship. You're not supposed to be joined at the hip. It's good for people to go off and having enriching experiences alone, and this sounds like something you've been wanting to do for a long time. Also, you may not even be with this guy next year. You've only been together 2 months and while they might be the best 2 months you've ever had, there's zero guarantee you're going to be together next year. I'd hate to see you c…

Like /u/freebumblebee, I met my husband by chance online. My blog turned up during a Google search. Lucky me! We were 23 and 28. We chatted online with zero intention of dating and I just knew we were super compatible by the way he talked about his perspectives on things. When we met, it was just like, "Yup, this is it."

Hello Laura! Coincidentally, I bought your book right before reading the announcement for this AMA a few weeks ago, so that was cool. I'm currently reading The Surrendered Wife and really enjoying it. I don't really have a question, I just wanted to say thanks for existing! Many of your ideas were things I naturally gravitated towards before I knew there were actually other women who had the same thoughts and opinions about relationships that I do. It's a relief to not feel like I'm the only one…

This is hilarious because I just got invited to go see this with a friend and her group of friends. I'd never heard of Amy Schumer before and they were all going on about how funny she is. I watched the trailer and yup, not funny. She reminds me of Chelsea Handler. I'm really tired of this fable in movies about how a woman can be as unappealing as possible but some great guy sees her "inner beauty" and brings it out to the surface. Where are the movies about male characters being disgusting and …

That sentence in The Surrendered Wife really hit a nerve for me, too. I wouldn't classify my mom as a narcissist, but like another commenter said, self-absorbed would certainly describe her. I can't talk to her about anything without her turning it back to herself. Most of the time it doesn't seem like she's really listening to me; she's just waiting for me to stop talking so she can talk instead. Last weekend, my siblings and I took my mom on a day trip as part of her Christmas present (we had …

What do you do? Just heat it up in a pot until it browns? I consider myself a decent baker and I feel slightly dumb that I haven't been doing this.

This is really cool. I'm reading The Surrendered Wife right now and enjoying it quite a bit.

I agree with /u/ErikaGD. Personally, I don't want kids and was totally willing to pay for part of my engagement/wedding ring (my husband relented and let me pay for his wedding ring). The responsibilities thing I don't personally think means much right now. It's really hard to plan that kind of thing before you're actually in the situation. Maybe one of you will work way more than the other, maybe you will have kids, who knows. The name thing is difficult because so many women don't take their h…

Considering how the MIL turned on a dime when she saw it was working, I have a feeling that her initial disapproval was scripted. Did you get that from watching it?

And don't forget the overalls. Her husband was all impressed she got dressed up but all she had put on was a t-shirt with overalls. Whatever floats your boat, but that part made me laugh.

I watched it this morning. I found the main 2 couples super cringey, so it was hard to watch. My husband and I are not at all like the veteran couple so I found it hard to relate to. I do think the advice was good, though. I, too, liked that the husband said it was easier to leave work at work when he knows he's coming home to a positive atmosphere. I also thought the show kind of ended abruptly...when the next show came on, I had to rewind to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Nope, it just so…

My husband and I have been semi-long distance the entire time we've been together (5+ years). The other posters gave some good suggestions so I won't repeat those. Another good thing to do is to not text constantly. Don't hash out arguments or make long complaints via text. Keep it light and positive. I generally send my husband a "good morning!" text, maybe a mid day "how's work?" text and then a few texts in the evening depending what's going on. I don't like to overload him with contact. Less…

Agreed. I don't judge other women for not having the same captain/first-mate dynamic that I have, but I sure as hell look down on women who treat their spouse like crap.

Just to clarify, RPW don't care if other women don't agree with our philosophies. We don't look down on people for disagreeing with us. We know our lifestyle isn't for everyone.

My husband doesn't think I'm a child. RPW doesn't condone staying with a man if he treats you like a child.

There's no reason you can't or shouldn't bring it up. You should be on the same page, or at least, know where the other person stands on the topic of marriage. If it was me, I'd say something like, "Hey, have you noticed people keep asking us when we're getting married? I was just curious how you feel about that, since we've never talked about it before." Let him talk about it while you listen and encourage him to speak as much about it as he's comfortable doing so, and then go from there.

Troll...last month you had a boyfriend. You're not even a decent troll.

I think that's oversimplifying it a bit. My point was if marriage is something she can't live without, she's entitled to that priority. It's up to them to decide if it's worth breaking up over. Some things are worth breaking up over, some aren't. Nobody's life is ever going to be exactly how they want it to be, but if something is important to you, there's nothing wrong with pursuing it.

My husband (of 7 days) didn't really believe in marriage, either. Both his parents are twice divorced and he was afraid to repeat family history. He also just didn't really think the tax benefits made it worthwhile. That said, we are of different nationalities and we have to be married in order to for me to move to the USA. It was really, really hard for him to convince himself to propose but once we were engaged, he really seemed to change his tune and get excited about us getting married. Of c…

OP, I recommend going to a nearby Sephora and having them show you a basic routine. Maybe you could tell them to show you no more than 4 or 5 things? I got a free makeover thing there once and it was helpful, although it is really hard to replicate exactly what they do. The good thing with Sephora is that for the most part, the products are really good-quality. CoverGirl and anything you find at Walmart or Target can be hit or miss, although I've had good luck with CoverGirl. You've gotten lots …

Haha that's sweet! I've been thinking about writing a post about how I came to realize I was in a red pill relationship. It is seriously such a relief realizing I'm not the only woman who realizes how much better relationships can be when you stop trying to control and emasculate your partner.

I've had okay luck with eShakti. Their clothes are customizable which is cool. You can even (pay to) have them sew the garment using your measurements. They also send out coupons constantly. I've only made one order and I ended up having to send about half the items back because they fit weird. But their clothes are very feminine and some of them definitely are vintage inspired if that's your thing.

Hello! I'm curious about your experience...were you still with your LTP when you discovered RPW? Was he a red pill kind of man? I ask because I always knew that the dynamic with my fiance and I was different from my relationships in the past, and so finding this subreddit was like a lightbulb going off in my head.

Hello! I've been lurking for a few weeks now but never posted. Initially, TRP really bothered me and I couldn't figure out why, but eventually I realized that I agree with a lot of it, but didn't like the package it was delivered in on the main sub (fair enough, it's a space for men). I'm glad I found this sub instead; I'm a woman anyway, so a much better fit regardless. It's a breath of fresh air.
