Imagine when was the main way to communicate with someone out of your city. Plus is the official way to send the serious legal communication. Its responsibility of both parents and possibly the whole extended family to grow up the children. And raising a children is not only expansive in term of money (much more a normal person can anticipate) and especially TIME. Its not the woman alone that has to provide all, and the man just going around impregnating whatever he found. I would make the "not recognize" of the children after birth, for both parents. That will also avoid family to be forced to grow up children born with issue that cannot be seen before or develop in later stages.
