This is worse. At least with prostitution there's assurance of having sex. This is moving the paywall to the absolute front of the sexual interaction.

"the one who asks pays" is a pretty reasonable expectation Yes, it would be if women asked men out in remotely similar proportions. But since the reality is that men overwhelmingly must initiate, that phrase simply becomes a long-winded way of saying "men pay".

That was exactly the woman i last dated. She was miserable unless around or talking about her dog. Any time we went somewhere, she was checking her house cameras for the dog, and generally not engaged. It really cost me my last shred of desire to date at all.

Women are the only ones who have the right to vote. Men have a transaction. We have to agree to surrender our lives for the country if the gov't wants us to in exchange for the same thing women are just given outright.

Lack of matches or success that men have on dating apps. I just don’t care. It’s better than having an inbox full of guys who just want to sleep with me or send me dick pics. And most of the time, it’s low quality. But men feel like just because women have more options in their inbox, it’s better. No, not true at all. Everybody literally struggle with online dating. Not just men. How are those two points even remotely equivalent?? One is the over-abundance of choice and the other is no choice at…

I had a horrible ex who whined to me about shaving. Her: "I hate shaving! I wish I didn't have to!" Me: "Well, no one is forcing you to. You can stop if you want." You want everyone else to change so you don't have to?" Her: silence

Why in the world should I be so concerned about some strangers feelings?? What about my feelings? Are they not equivalent?? If they want to whinge about that "one poison M&M in 100" thing as a valid reason to be weary of all men, then I think that 33% of women who ADMIT (implying that there are those who engage in the behavior but don't admit it) is plenty to disconnect altogether. Yup, same here. I work for a small RIA firm and men have to wear dress pants and shirts. The partners have oh-so graciously permitted us to not have to also wear ties for this year (starts back up next year). But they don't DARE tell the women how to dress! So they can wear just about anything they'd like, usually lighter/looser/more fitting for the weather. One woman wears what appears to be a silky tank-top blouse thing. And here I am in two layers minimum and pants, always too warm.

Bc female entitlement. There's this woman I've been chatting with. She is most likely attracted to me, but I am not to her. She's great to talk to but I'm not attracted to her. I get shit from a mutual, female friend of ours that says I'm "vain" (bc she's an idiot and doesn't know the right word). And this woman also seems to be under the assumption that I'll pay for things she wants us to do together! I found myself in having an upcoming date with another woman and I do not want to feel like I'…

First of all, it's a movement? So now every hashtag is a fucking movement? Get real. Secondly, nothing he said provides anything helpful or well-articulated. Simply saying "think about [X]" is meaningless. How about even a little specificity? Because, if I do think about any of those things, nothing misogynistic comes up. So what's his point? As others have said, baseless misandry and virtue-signaling to say he's not like those other guys.

I said this to a married friend just the other day. Everyone has codependency issues. They can't go anywhere or doing anything alone. Like, going to the movies. It is the least social thing since you don't talk to each other for two hours. You can talk about the movie any time, it doesn't have to be right after. But most people can't go by themselves. They'll either find someone to go with or just not go at all.

Sure thing! Pan-sear the relaxed steak for roughly two and a half minutes per side in olive oil and butter. Season with low sodium Montreal steak seasoning. Spoon the oil and butter over the steak after you flip it to continue to cook and baste the steak. Add a few sprigs of thyme in at the last minute if desired. Lightly steam the broccoli for about 4-5 minutes. This should coincide with the steak finishing up. Don't pull the pan of the heat! I microwave my potato for a few minutes bc I'm still…

That's you. These babies aren't given any choice in the matter. The arguments made for enacting this savagery upon them hold no weight. "They won't remember it." That's not a justification, that's a rationalization without any merit as to why it's being done. "It's my baby. I can do what I want." False. There are quite obvious things you cannot do, such as amputate a limb or blind the baby. This is no different. "It looks better." That means you're performing cosmetic surgery on a baby to make i…

They'll never remember it!!1! No, of course not. Look, the practice is objectively wrong regardless of whether the baby is going to remember it or not. Why the hell are things like "can hold her liquor", "has a dirty mind", and "has a dirtier vocabulary" supposed to be laudable traits of a woman?? How about "has self-control to stop after socially consuming", "has a nurturing mind", and "knows how to speak eloquently in public"? Guys wouldn't want to date a girl who acts like a guy.

restricted funding for abortions, which many women view as their right. Women view the ability to have an abortion is their right. Okay... But why does it need to be federally funded as well?? Removing the funding isn't the same as removing the access. PP may be able to still perform the procedure but it may cost women more money to do so. Is that what this is about? Right? I always made sure that when the shoe was on the other foot I was behaving the way I wanted her to act. If we were invited to something from her circle of friends I always said yes, i never griped about who else was attending (like random dudes she fucked), or annoyingly bitched to leave as soon as possible. Hell, sometimes she had to pull me away since I was enjoying the company! Same with her family. I never once got pissy and tried to drag her away from time at her parents home. I enco…

Just as whiny and dramatic as any other time. Funny thing is, the number of times she would throw her public tantrums and I said I wasn't having it any more became more frequent towards the end. It kind of numbed that final moment for both of us a bit, so it wasn't as much of a ruckus as one would expect. She just put me into one more no-win situation and i just sighed that I was done.

I've listed stuff like this before but it's more relevant here. My ex got mad/sobbingly upset at me for not spooning her every night. And for sleeping on my side, which sometimes means turning my back to her while I fall asleep. She said I should spoon her until she falls asleep then roll away and fall asleep myself, as though my needs are a diiiiiiistant second to her wants. She also got upset that I got up before her and didn't stay in bed until she woke up, even though she would be in bed hou…

For some men there is a very real choice in what you're describing: Have an SO or have a spine.

Holy shit... I have no understanding or definition for someone that childish. First in the lack of thinking through the keys situation, which I could accept if not for the wild emotional reactions that followed. Freaking out and crying? Like a toddler?? Getting mad at you? For what?? Getting mad at her daughter???? WTF?!? What kind of person old enough to procreate would be like that?

If i'm remembering that stuff correctly, the producers had to send some men to the women's island to make sure they weren't continuing to sleep in the dirt and start gathering food. The women literally needed men to step in and babysit them.

Plus the movie affords her impossible insight into the male characters motivations that she wouldn't get in the real world. It is that insight she likes the most.

You're lucky. The one person I consider my only friend I would be terrified of telling this stuff to for fear of losing them as well. He's the best friend I've had in a long string of disappointing friendships, and I don't want to burden him like that, especially since I know how much shit he already has on his plate. I'd hate myself even more if I were to lay that on him like he has some responsibility. I know, you'll say "if he's such a good friend then you should talk to him about it". Except…

You're right that that's when they need the most support. Unfortunately, it's not available to everyone in the ways that they may need it. My therapist may be horrible, but I've actually had worse.

You got it. My friends tend to want to talk about themselves. If I try to talk about my life they tend to drift off and wait for me to return the attention to them. They have their own lives, and they choose to keep me at a far distance despite their words to the contrary.

Also, i've never been even floated the idea of psycho-corrective pharmaceuticals for anything I've talked about. No drugs for me. Nor would I want to take that shit anyways.

Nope. My therapist has yet to probe on their own into this side of things. It'd be a welcome change of pace if I didn't have to spoon-feed yet another person, let alone a highly-paid professional, the information about what I need from them every step of the way.

I've been doing CBT for a long time, and it's made things worse. I've fallen into depressive realism. I know and see what's going on in my life and it's depressing as hell. I've yet to see how the psychology-world plans to address this.

You would think someone with a PhD and decades of experience as well as teaching in a local college this exact subject would know what those flags look/sound like and be attempting to address it. I love how it's still on me to spoon-feed everyone including the professional I'm fucking paying a lot of money for.

Ha. I did quit my job. I've given up on dating. I've revisited an addiction (alcoholism, been drinking near-daily). My therapist is aware of all of it. No notes or concerns have been raised.

I know what explicit means. I don't feel comfortable or even like I need to be so blatant about it. My therapist has listened to me describe in great detail my thoughts and feelings. All of it is textbook for "i'm on the path to killing myself." For someone with PhD's and decades of experience, my therapist seems pretty unconcerned or oblivious.

That's my thought as well. Do I have to come right out and say "I've been contemplating suicide. I've pictured and planned it out in my mind. I've considered whether or not to write some long letter or not even bother with that. I've wondered if people would even bother coming to my funeral since they don't give a shit about anything else that happens to me. If I had the money for a gun I'd have already blown my brains out." Should I draw my therapist a fucking picture? What's more, I've even lo…

Oppressed? How so? By being protected from war with the lives of countless men? By being kept out of dangerous occupations and kept in the relative safety of a home? By being given the right to vote when men had to agree to surrender their lives for it? That oppression?

And it was great simply because it didn't put the fact that she's a woman in the forefront of the movie. That and Kim Basinger is awesome.

Haven't skeptics been labeled as misogynists already? I know every time something about that movie comes up people (rightly) say how poor of an actress the lead is, how bizarre the whole thing looks, and how eye-rollingly ridiculous the whole "IT MUST HAVE A WOMAN DIRECTOR" thing has been and others call them woman-hating basement dwellers.

Good for you! I recently got out of a relationship so very close to what you describe, and I feel magnificent! Three months in to the two year relationship, she started slowly became erratic, hyper-sensitive, irrational, controlling, and just plain emotionally abusive. Every time she blew up (usually in public) and I called her on it, she blamed medication or having a bad day or me. ANYTHING but accepting responsibility for things she said and did to me. I even moved in with her, against my bett…
