HNWI will typically each have a team of lawyers dedicated to the divorce and they generally are people who can focus on the big money picture and won't fight over the couch, the dish set, or the beanie babies

If it were simply a business transaction then you would be able to mediate/ arbitrate. Business transactions end. Divorce never ends.

It's also operating under the assumption that Dad did something bad and that's why a divorce is being granted

It's like going before a judge except you cannot appeal or relitigate anything later.

This is why I highly recommend getting a divorce coach. A decent divorce coach charges a fraction of the cost of a lawyer and can serve as a buffer between you and your liar. When I was in the process, I would forward my anxiety-attack-inducing emails from my lawyer to my coach and my coach would tell me the content of it in a thoughtful, calm and supportive way. It was really a game changer.

Trump got rid of the alimony tax deduction.

There are also tricks you can do to legally reduce your income for the purposes of calculating alimony, depending on your specific situation.

Before you let her in on what you are thinking, gather evidence that she is living with him. For example, it may be as simple as messages from her telling you to drop the children at the address. You may need to get a private investigator. Speak to your attorney. It is important you do this first before giving away your plan.

When people say Israel is deliberately targeting women and children, are they suggesting that when given the opportunity to kill either an enemy soldier or a random woman, the Israel soldier chooses to use his bullets on the random woman? What would be the motive?

On the Israeli side, we are often told of the 19 women hostages (and handful of child hostages), but not much about the 100+ male hostages, who are also going through horrific abuse.

And if you do something nice or positive the friends will tell her "oh all abusers try to do nice things"

In my case, she didn't change her physical appearance (no hair dye, no tattoos), but I still barely recognize her. She simply has a different face. It's not just that she scowls at me. Her features have restructured themselves. On the positive side I'm completely repelled by it, so no chance of getting sucked back in

Most of the advice here applies for every marriage and for the duration of every marriage. Just because life seems good, it doesn't mean you should give your wife ultimate power over your finances, your cell phone, your children, etc. The law allows her to do almost anything she wants to you.

If done right it could work. Get on the birth certificate, go to doctors appointments, be very involved, and if things ever go south, never leave the home. Do some research before the pregnancy (that's right, before the pregnancy, not before the birth)

Depends where you live. Are you in the US? What state? In most places, 51% custody means no child support (and in many states, you'll receive child support)

DO NOT MOVE OUT OF THE HOUSE! Order two bodycams on Amazon. Always keep one on you, the other one charging. Always ensure one is running. Back up every video on the cloud. You will need to pay for storage (about $10/month). If any allegation is made, simply request the date and time and you will have the video to show it didn't happen. Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE OUT

You need to slowly transition into becoming a stay at home dad. Go to EVERY doctor appointment, take her to daycare every day, etc. Do all of this gradually. Cut your hours. Cut your income. Finances will be tight for a year or so but it is an investment that is well worth it

She can go back to court and ask for more child support though

Yup. In the American legal system, if anyone wants to sue you, they need to allege some kind of wrongdoing and show some kind of damages. Only exception: your spouse. She can sue you unambiguously for "no fault".

If working out seems daunting and a hassle, just taking a walk - short or long - can have an extremely positive effect on your mood. This is not "hokey pokey" stuff. It's science. The movement of your body and the fresh air stabilizes the chemical balance in your brain and fires up the good-feeling neurotransmitters

It's so sad that we have a divorce system that makes nasty divorces basically inevitable because it rewards the person who gets nasty first. So unless you really really trust the person you are divorcing to be reasonable...
