i’ve been thinking over this comment the past hour, especially the first paragraph. you’re right. i have not given it enough thought. i guess i assumed since he didn’t ever talk about it, it certainly wasn’t my place to talk about it. and after that i did not treat the death and his depression seriously enough. he deserves more respect in this regard and i will take some time to think on this, instead of ignoring it. it’s his grandma, she is a hoarder. she’s been very stressful for captain to de…

with the weather warming up we’re both real excited to get back outside - I’ll plan some active things for us to do. keeping up my efforts is always great advice, thank you

haha, always love your comments. he is chill! i’m not sure what “leave the rest” really means, though. i’ve read the advice to only deal with your own stuff and whatever has been delegated to you, and i do the cleaning. he does leave little piles of things at his desk and where he likes to sit, they’re not really in my way, and it is “his mess” are those the sorts of things you mean?

i believe these things about men too. sorry if i misspoke, it wasn’t necessarily about his looks going, i know they will, but that he has said himself he doesn’t put as much effort as before for whatever reason. i don’t expect him to have abs ever again, but i like that he used to exercise.

Thanks for the reply. It's funny how used to things we become. I've never been able to afford counseling besides a brief stint in college. I don't consider it much anymore. And I'm not close to any churches or pastors right now... but it is certainly something I can bring up with my captain! :) I appreciate the reminder that therapy is a thing. And yes, what you said about resurfacing challenges, is probably why I struggle so much with change. Change causes old stress to come back and say hello.…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
