If a woman sees a guy as hard to get for whatever reason, she'll end up trying harder because she sees it as a challenge for validation. Kind of like, "If I can hook this one, then I must be worth more than I thought." Or! "If I can hook this one, it'll validate how attractive/interesting/etc. I think I am."
