Is it just me. Am I the reason the word gaslighting was invented? She won’t see a couples therapist with me. She feels she knows more than them and that most therapists have massive issues in their own life and can’t properly advise her. My wife also does not accept that she could be wrong or not entirely right about something. We sat in a room of specialists once and they all told her something that contradicts what she thinks. She would not even entertain the idea of believing that what they are saying makes sense. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/09/24 06:10 PM
HopeLove hearing this. Congratulations my man, a big W indeed!!! | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 10:48 PM
Is it just me. Am I the reason the word gaslighting was invented?I actually truly feel like I’m in some kind of parallel reality sometimes with her | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 07:37 PM
Is it just me. Am I the reason the word gaslighting was invented? This is a very good answer. They want to be seen as victims and it likely creates a positive loop in their brain. Very insightful! | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 07:19 PM
Is it just me. Am I the reason the word gaslighting was invented?Lol | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 07:17 PM
Is it just me. Am I the reason the word gaslighting was invented?Yes. Oh yes, narcissist. How could I forget that one? The gaslighting narcissist. How many false accusations can we stack in a sentence to validate her? | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 02:28 PM
Is it just me. Am I the reason the word gaslighting was invented? You are right. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone or some alternate reality with her. Especially when the accusations start flying, it sounds like endless projections of her behavior onto me as if I do that to her. It’s mind warping | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 02:23 PM
Wife thinks I’m being ridiculousCareful with putting a camera in private spaces like the bedroom. In a lot of places, if you get caught with ANY recording device in a private space, it can turn criminal on you. By all means record in the public spaces not in view of private and carry on all conversations in public spaces | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 05:17 AM
Getting out there…I’d be ok with never getting laid ever again if it meant my life had peace and laughter in it. The idea that men need women needs to go away. Men love to be providers but I can provide for my dog and be quite happy with it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 05:00 AM
Do you tell her before you retain a lawyer?Ya I feel mine is no different | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 08:57 PM
Do you tell her before you retain a lawyer?Wow. They really do get nasty in this process. It’s truly war | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 01:33 PM
My advice to those starting down this path...What is the wrist recorder you are talking about? I’m very interested | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 04:58 AM
Do you tell her before you retain a lawyer? What happening in your situation? | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 04:51 AM
Do you tell her before you retain a lawyer? In the eyes of the court if I do this then it’ll be bad. She doesn’t make any income so courts will probably get pissed if give her no money | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 04:51 AM
Do you tell her before you retain a lawyer?I feel like this is the correct approach, I just don’t want hurt my kids at all in this. Sending her into a hateful rage will likely trickle into the kids lives to some extent. But you’re right, if it isn’t a surprise, she’ll take advantage of it | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/08/24 06:06 AM
Off my chestI feel like I should tell her before I retain a lawyer. Not sure, what’s everyone’s thoughts on that | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 11:22 PM
Off my chestOh. Interesting. I do like that idea. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 08:37 PM
Off my chestThis is what I need to do. Stay in the home and grey rock her | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 03:54 PM
Off my chestI would love it if she broke my stuff. Anything that can hurt her own situation in court is ok with me | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 03:53 PM
Off my chestI’ve had this conversation with family but I think I will just video record it all as protection. My home is my home, I will not leave unless forced out by law | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 03:52 PM
Off my chestThanks. Divorce would be no surprise. She has been manipulating conversations for years to try and find some way to get me to say I’m an awful person. She told me I gaslight her because I disagreed with her harsh opinion of my forgetful behavior. She records things a lot, so the intention for destruction is there. But my kids know, they see her behavior toward me day in and out. They are not fools. They see it all | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 03:51 PM
Off my chestThanks guys. Such a unanimous decision. Going quietly into the night feels so wrong on so many levels. I feel like she’ll completely shift the narrative to her liking and I’ll be left alone with my kids doubting who their father is. I feel like I need to stand up for myself, my life and my future. But you are right, if I got a full sentence out before her screaming and running off started then I’d be lucky. The whole marriage has been about her telling me I don’t take accountability while she is… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/24 01:36 PM
