Well the big argument I have is that if you don't have much of a reason to, you don't cut body parts. Especially on someone else. There's obviously pain involved, there are risks involved, and it's making an irreversible decision on the body of another human before he can make a decision about it. How do you feel for example about female genital mutilation like removal of the clitoral hood or of the labia majora? It's weird because circumcision is a cultural norm in some places, but so is FGM, s…

What we have have is violent protesters in an ironic situation. How the hell are you interpreting that these people are plotting violence against men and/or women? It's a violent mob. Mobs are stupid. By the way you sure read a lot into people's mind to be able to also know what I give shits about. Some people choose to be bitter and angry. Some choose to focus on positive action and what they can do to improve the situation. Being angry at these women or feeling like I'm more intelligent or com…

Btw, this feels like a twist on the "so what you're saying is" interviewer meme. "This post doesn't fit the sub", "So what you're saying is I should support these people?" "Being angry at women protesting violence against women by using violence isn't related to men's rights", "So what you're saying is we're not supposed to talk about people who actively discriminate against men and openly hate them?"

Eh, if that's the direction this sub wants to take I just don't belong here anymore and that's the end of that. Here we're "discussing" people protesting violence against women, using violence. Where men's rights fit into this, you tell me.

Been here for quite a while, back when it was more of a positive movement than a bitter one. Before it started gathering people from banned subs and shit. But I mean if your definition of discussing men's right it's being angry at feminists or whatever, you do you. The feminists you hate think the exact same, just with the roles flipped.

Is there maybe a distinction between "this sub shouldn't be about X" and "I am telling you to support X"? Fuck this sub is going to hell.

That;'s why you should let your little boys play with their penis. The skin will naturally detach over time. Just had a routine checkup for my 3yo son and the dr asked "does he play with his penis a lot" to which we replied not at all, thinking we had a well-behaved boy. Couldn't help but laugh a little when she said "Alright well encourage him to from now on" for this very reason.

By adolescence?? Now I'm curious, because my 3yo son's doctor has started telling us to pull it back (though nothing major so I'm really not scared of it being horrible advice either). "Funnily" enough, she even mentioned it somewhat frequently causes minor infections... I remember mine being pulled back in a single doctor visit when I was 5 or 6, and let's just say I peed screaming for 2 weeks. Not sure if this was a mistake, a stupid doctor or a stupid trend at the time, but my entire family r…

Yeah I totally understand wanting to sort of swinging the pendulum back, but I'll remain in my overly cautious camp on this. On the rape and pedophiles cases, that beyond disturbing when the rapist themselves can say they did the crime in a judge's face and get away with it. But I mean nothing surprises me since I've seen these studies about how people naturally see victims as females and perpetrators as males and all that... We're just biased animals it seems. Like I said I totally understand w…

I most certainly can and will just "sit here" since as I said, I haven't done my research and haven't seen the proof myself. And I also said this isn't a "who's side are you on" thing so it doesn't matter whether Depp did anything or not. Judging by the sub you can probably guess who's side I'd be on anyway. What she deserves is literally not for me to decide, cause I have next to nothing to build this judgement on myself. That's all I'm saying. I've heard a lot about videos, haven't seen one pe…

Oh I mean I've heard most of this stuff, I don't mean it as a "who's side are you on" type of deal, but simply that I haven't seen enough with my own eyes to take actions in a witch hunt like this. From what I've heard it totally seems like she's a terrible person, and if so I hope she gets what she deserves, but I'm not going to try and have people lose their job over an audio recording and online comments, because that's exactly what's we've been arguing against. Now if you've actually done yo…

I'm kind of torn... I don't think I would personally act on a voice recording in this day and age. Like I would personally believe it, but not enough to act on someone else's life. But I would also understand people for doing it.

Was she proven guilty in court, or did you guys at the very least see the proof in question? Because I keep hearing about it and that's it, so personally it would be no better for me to act on the info I have than when people acted against Depp. I know she seems easy more guilty and worse, but that was kind of the whole deal, that we stop wrecking lives on feelings and start waiting for court rulings. (Btw if the evidence IS accessible, then I agree)

Personally I see 2 big reasons. First and foremost, ignorance. They are simply uninformed about what it actually is and aren't informed enough to make a distinction between TRP, MGTOW, misogyny, mra and so on. Looking outside-in, it's "FOR women rights vs AGAINST women rights" in many people's mind. Second, this sub is not 100% clean, civilized and welcoming. We have our share of morons, assholes, women-haters and trolls. Every sub does. Some threads are more inflammatory than others. But what h…

I don't know... Free speech precisely stops at inciting to violence or harm. Give your opinions on whatever you want, but the moment you encourage people to commit crime, you've crossed a line. "I hate group of people xyz" is your own business. "Let's murder people of group xyz next Monday" isn't part of your right to free speech. Inciting to suicide like this however is kind of a gray area imo because it can be hard to tell to which degree someone was deliberately coaching someone into suicide …

Injustice isn't a competition. It's not a "loser takes all" kind of thing where only the worst thing gets acknowledged. Haven't seen anyone being pro-FGM, and it's MGM that's normalized in our culture. Worse or not, you deal with the bad stuff that happens around you.

Happy to say that while I've had a so-so experience with people around me, the professionals I've seen have taken everything I say very seriously. That's only my own experience of course.

They are a great tool indeed. There's just a backlash from meds being used too frequently or for "anything", plus there's just some kind of stigma attached to taking meds = giving up. It's just that they have their place and often shouldn't be the first line of treatment. As always, both extremes are generally wrong.

I'm always torn when I see things like this. On one hand I want people to be able to make jokes on pretty much whatever they like, and I'm personally not offended one bit by it. On the other hand there's the fact that you can't reverse genders and get away with it.

"Rape" is simply too large of a word. There are without a doubt rapes which will leave their victim traumatized for life, heck some are physically injured, almost killed or abused over long periods, while there are probably cases of rape which are much closer to "kinda wanted but not really wanted sex", which can still be rape, but it's not on the same scale. There's also the fact that not everyone will react identically to the exact same events. Putting it all in the same basket makes it a bit …

I personally think that the issue with "toxic masculinity" is not whether it exists or not, but rather in the distinction between "toxic masculinity" and "masculinity is toxic". Aspects of feminine and masculine identity both have darker sides to them and I doubt anyone would really argue with that. I'm not too concerned with it myself however as it is both a tiny fraction of the whole male demographic that is at cause, and because crime is far more dictated by things such as education and pover…

There a ways to approach these things. As a young man, I wasn't violent. I was beaten at school however. Being told on top of that that I was essentially violent inside would've been a slap to the face. I'm going to sound like a broken record, but only a tiny fraction of boys are pathologically violent, why put all of them in the same basket because as a gender they are maybe statistically more inclined? At this point, why not teach it to everyone without targeting OR find ways to target much mo…

I personally believe that this is the idea with this post. "Teach men not to rape" implies that 1)men rape, 2)they don't know better and 3)they have to be taught not to. A very similar yet much more positive message could be to simply phrase it as "let's prevent rape" as a whole. if a certain demographic is responsible for much larger amount of offences, then a special response (e.g targeted education) is warranted. Maybe, but is "all males" really a well targeted demographic if trying to reach …

Technically the same as "Teach blacks not to steal." Don't target an entire group for the actions of a few individuals. Target theft, target violence, target rape, target the action without suggesting a certain group is doing all of it.

"Is this a case of domestic violence? That's hard to say without context." Sure, I punched and kneed my wife to the face, but IT'S NOT A PATTERN. Seriously, am I missing some important detail here or is it magically "okay" to beat someone if you do it occasionally or follow no pattern!?

It's almost painfully ironic how movements like these have at their very core the belief that a women is inferior to a man. "Men and women are equal. But not. Women do everything better. But we have to level the playing field because women somehow can't do the things men do."

That's actually a pretty powerful statement for a lot of social issues where people are looking for "revenge" rather than equality.

It's far better to stick to the facts and numbers Yes, but no. That's not how the average mind nor the collective mind works. There's a reason stories like this go around, and they can be used by either side. People react to "human scale" stories much more than they do to cold facts and statistics.

Thank you on the clarification! Guess my use of the word feminism wasn't accurate for the purpose I had in mind. The word is thrown much more lightly with people I know so the line was blurred between feminism and equals rights. Anyway, thanks!

I would argue however that "good feminism" is totally compatible with good MRM. Both should seek only to make the situation better for someone, as opposed to making it "better than the other" or making the other worse. Of course if you compare to crazy feminists (just as you could with crazy MRA), then it's pretty much irreconcilable. Edit: TIL what I called 'good feminism' ain't feminism (It sorta meant 'human right activist by women' to people around me. Yes I was raised by slightly feminist p…

Wow, this is getting every bit as ridiculous as some feminists saying "men enslaved women with the fear of rape" and shit. Also, "absolved of all responsibility" sounds like they didn't have much control over the situation either, which could literally be used as an argument against your own logic. More importantly, what happened 'since the dawn of time' is irrelevant to the current situation. E.g. descendents of slaves need not be treated as kings to "compensate" for the past, just as men or wo…

Thank you! So long as masculinism is pro-men and not anti-women, I say it's good. Just the same I approve any feminist who fights for women and not against men. Some posts can get whiny, but then again that's just how people are, makes us feels good and it's at a much easier-to-grasp scale than bigger issues, hence the attention this gets. I see nothing wrong with this post if only it's very small scale. The tweet it shows is offensive, and shouldn't be said about either sex.
