Going to disagree here. Meditation can be a very good supplement for anyone of any religious denomination. When stripped to its core principles, Buddhism expounds a means of asceticism that can be of use to anyone on the spiritual path. Rites or rituals and worship of the Buddha as an idol are not what Prince Siddartha advocated. The universal benefits of Buddhism are also described in The Doctrine of Awakening by Evola. Evola also praises Buddhism (or rather the Doctrine of Awakening) as a spir…

I'm not the OP, but "Mindfulness in Plain English" and "The Power of Now" are decent starting points for a secular person. After that, just go meditate.

You're asking a timeless question of being vs. becoming. Philosophers and spiritual aspirants alike have grappled with this for ages. Start there

Let's say you were working on a woodworking project. And you only have room in your toolbox for one item: A hammer or a screwdriver. You can only put one in your toolbox, and the other you have to throw out. Which one would be better to have? The answer is both. Both a hammer and a screwdriver are used for completely different things. It makes no sense to get rid of one in favor for another. Instead, you should go out and buy a bigger toolbox.

I'm trying to cultivate this type of mindset too and am meditating daily. Do you have any recommendations for books that helped you get to where you're at now?

You may be treating going to the gym as a means to an end. If you do, that'll suck the fun out of working out. Try treating going to the gym as the goal instead. Make it the source of your success instead of just a stepping stone. I personally treat my workouts like a meditation. Whenever I lift I turn off whatever I was listening to and focus on the mind-muscle connection. Makes working out a new experience every single rep I do.

You're frustrations are arising because you're more focused on the goal than you are on the path towards the goal. My advice is to meditate more and really ask yourself what you want in the present moment

Fiction is often better at teaching you certain things than non-fiction. You just need to sift through the shit (i.e. don't read low quality fiction)

You mind sharing why you're learning Japanese? I was considering doing the same but couldn't find a practical application for the language, save for preparing to visit the country in the future.

OP. Listen to this guys advice. While you're reading the book, look up Eckhart's videos on youtube and start up a meditation practice. Itll lay the foundation you need to build confidence.

I keep an index card as my bookmark for physical books that I populate with the core messages of the book in bullet form. This helps you think about the contents of the book and reshape them into for your own perspective.

Interesting topic. This is something many of the major religions attempt to answer with the promise of an afterlife and an end to suffering. What popped into mind when I read your response was Bhuddism and nirvana. What's your take on this?

Okay, lets break it down. I'm okay and he always says he thinks I'm sad and he's worried about me not having any friends or making any friends. He always asks if I met any girls because he sees me growing up similarly to he did and he wants me to be more social than he was Your dad is clearly worried about your mental health. Him thinking that your sad is him thinking "I care about my son's mental state, and if possible I'd like to help him where I can to make him happy." OP, have you tried just…

Good rule of thumb is to escalate until you receive a verbal no or non verbal no (i.e. her body language is facing away from you, she acts disinterested, etc.). She may have been shy or just didn't know what to say.

Damn, a lot of angry answers here. What I believe is that what they say comes from a place of real love (hopefully). They think that since they can wholeheartedly love their baby boy as he is, anyone else can as well. So if he just be's himself, he'll find the right girl. Now obviously this doesn't work, but it's important to note that mothers don't say this with malicious intent.

Porn is cancer. Quit it forever. As for fapping, ask yourself if fapping right now will help you create the best version of yourself. If you're horny for a couple hours a day, fapping would be beneficial to take your edge off so you can actually be productive. Find what works for you.

Every man has something that drives him to wake up in the morning. That void you're feeling is a way your body is asking for a purpose. My recommendation is to pick up meditation again & start giving back to the community in one way or another.

Look into dopamine and the reward systems for the brain. A ton of things in modern society can be explained by boiling it down to dopaminergic responses.

Social media is good to increase SMV if you dedicate your time in it for that. But you'll need to spend a lot more effort to keep it as only an SMV outlet. Reason is social media exploits basic human biology to keep you addicted, so you'll have to be aware of that each time you use it. Tbh, the time you spend trying to display your SMV through social media is better spent doing other stuff instead (in 90% of cases).
