I think what some people can't grasp is that even when you have 99% effective birth control (which is optimistic), there are millions of women using it so statistically you're going to have a lot of "accidents."

All you know, factually speaking, is that more men are arrested. You can speculate that police are biased and you can speculate that men take more risks or whatever but that's all speculation.

That is not necessarily what the debate hinges on actually. Even if a zygote or fetus is a human life, there isn't much legal precedence for requiring a person to go through something as invasive or dangerous as pregnancy to support another person. People die every day because they cannot get a liver or kidney transplant (neither of which are fatal to the donor) for instance. Furthermore, the debate as to whether or not a fetus/zygote is a human life is more a matter or philosophical debate than…

I think it's important that people who are having sex with one another discuss their options in the event of accidental pregnancy. Even plan b isn't 100% and for some women abortion is simply not an option. In that case, you shouldn't take the risk unless you are both willing to deal with the consequences.
