I see you asking others to cite sources, yet you did not include any to support your original claim. That you think your low standards are fine is hardly valuable information. Here is my similarly unhelpful anecdote: I have eaten food, served to me by women, off of dirty plates as a child. Their thresholds must be abysmal! I think you know that individual standards do not vary that much, i.e. most would look at a room caked in stains and clutter and agree it is dirty. The presence of dirt is obj…

Even if we pretend your purported definition has philosophical value, it is irrelevant to this discussion - both because it is blatantly clear that when most people discuss 'who someone is' they are not interested in axon terminals and synapses, and because no one here is wondering how to discern living people from dead ones. If I'm wrong, please refer to MRS GREN.

That is to say every man who has ever written a love song has declared it to the woman it was written for? I doubt. I also don't see how one can listen to a song like Chelsea Hotel No. 2 or Beeswing (which were obviously written post-sexual relationship) and draw that conclusion.

As someone who doesn't do well in CBT because of the homework, the fact you didn't get any confuses me greatly and makes me think the practitioners you had were a bag of wank. I am in person-centred therapy, which is supposed to be the more relaxed approach you describe (and still my therapist is far from silent). I had thought CBT was supposed to involve more direction on their part. Were they private?

I am confused as to why you would have ever thought therapists were a resource for dating advice in the first place. Financial, career, or health advice (beyond mental - and even then, every therapist will have areas outside of their specialty) is not their remit. My therapist is very clear when I discuss physical health that she is not qualified to provide this, but can discuss or help to 'unmuddy' my thoughts about it. The other commenter is right that they should be able to identify patterns …

What about it seems valid and scientific?

Within my age range, usually not younger but that’s because I’m at an age where our lives would be in very different stages if they were. 5 years older would be my maximum, there are exceptions of course but that’s not really relevant.

As much as so many straight women would love to be lesbians, it doesn’t work that way.

No. I dated terrible men who weren’t right for me until I met my lovely boyfriend. If my ex hadn’t been such an abusive LVM maybe we’d still be together. There’s more chance of pigs flying though ;)

Doesn’t bother me at all. Obviously SOME women really care but some men also won’t date taller women, so I feel like it evens out. I’m 5’6 and up until my current boyfriend who is basically 6’0 I’ve dated people the same height/smaller than me. Usually they have a complex about it which is the downside. Or lie about their height or something else weird. But yeah, none of my male friends are gargantuan and I still see them dating. I don’t know where everyone else is living or dating but where I a…

I think that’s it. My previous girlfriend was the same and cheated on me repeatedly, it’s been years since that relationship ended so I think the main thing is that I’m so shocked I let myself put up with the same thing after all I went through with her. Part of me hates myself for not learning a lesson then, but I realise that healing is NOT linear and sometimes we regress or stop realising our worth. That’s okay for a minute as long as we don’t get stuck there, and I’m trying not to. Thank you…

Thank you so much. This sub definitely helps! And good luck with your healing :)

I’ve been in therapy my whole childhood but I stopped at the end of last year, although I think the fact I never saw any of my abuse as valid meant I was sort of dishonest, so I might seek abuse centred therapy when quarantine is over :) thanks so much!

Thank you so much! I’m blocking all his friends from Facebook because obviously he’s still finding a way to see my profile. I appreciate your advice :)

This is the case. TRP men incite violence towards women regularly. FDS women want nothing to do with TRP men, trust me.

This is hilarious. We don’t have any proof that the post pictured here is legitimate (most of all we do not know what country the woman is from or her socioeconomic status), and yet you dismiss any evidence on the contrary for any BS reason you can think of because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

You get a purge week to post ANYTHING you want, and immediately you resort to this? This isn’t even a solid argument for anything, and we can’t even comment on the legitimacy of the image because there’s no source. I knew this sub would become cringe, but this is just embarrassing

Oh my god yes. I find something so WEIRD about this. My ex boyfriends profile picture is still one I took (he made it that once I broke up with him). It has been 4 months and it’s still there with my jacket in the background (it’s also the one I said I liked the best lmfao). The funniest part is he would never post pictures of us together during our relationship or acknowledge me on social media. How the turn tables turn!

It’s mainly just joking about the fact that the guys who claim they’re ‘nice’ ‘quiet’ and ‘women don’t like them because they’re not chads’ are just as misogynistic.
