I usually get a really concerned face and ask "Is that really something you're concerned about?" If it's just a bad day, they talk about it; if they're fishing for an ego boost, they look all nonplussed at me and I walk away.

As a woman, yes. The confidence to approach me already wins a guy points in my eyes. (It's just as intimidating to approach a guy, but we have the convenient cultural "out" that we aren't expected to do so.) The fear of rejection is a universal thing.
