While the nitty gritty of the funding difference is hard to get into here and way above my paygrade, I will say that breast cancer strikes mostly women and at younger stages than other deadly cancers specifically affecting men. Meaning there are more years of life lost from that specific cancer so it's prioritized in research. On the other hand it makes more money than child hood cancer research so it's possible that profitability comes into play…

Sure, based on evolutionary science it's a battle of two basic human drives toward safety and procreation. Familiarity (based on physical appearance and preference) denotes safety and not having offspring with genetically similar mates gives children a better shot at survival. I think these studies describe a phenomenon we see in life all the time. People are generally attracted to what they're used to. Proximity predicts a lot of relationships. And we all know it's ill advised to date family.

The nuance is that genetic similarities between parents are not evolutionarily favored. However we have a bias towards people who are more like us in many different areas including race because familiarity is somewhat synonymous with safety. At least those are the theories it's not an exact science
