I totally agree...as a woman. I find myself arguing with my husband just so something isn't my fault. I'm on the defensive so easily and needlessly. I don't know about other women but it's something I have to be careful about doing.

I kind of feel like if I was going the way I was going, I would maybe some day feel like Lucy. Once our son was born I realized that I would always resent my husband for how much I did and how little he did. Then I realized that I was being an idiot. My husband works hard for us at work. I get to stay home. I get to be barefoot and pregnant and that was my freaking dream. And here I am depressed because I have to cook and clean? What I WANTED to do? So now I embrace it. Now I try to do the best …

Yes I am too! So worth it in the end. No worries, you assumed mostly right. She loves him but isn't really in love with him. I have tried to help her see this but she is comfortable with the situation. I just don't think it's fair to either of them!

All of my grandparents had traditional female roles, and none of them had any abuse or craziness. They were happy, submissive wives. Same with my husband's family. Although his maternal grandparents got divorced, and his mother said it was because her own mother was so extremely stubborn she couldn't blame her dad for leaving. Submission doesn't give a person so much power that he becomes evil.

We pray together most nights before bed. I love it because in sharing our prayers out loud and praying for one another, it allows for some really deep emotional intimacy.

My husband and I waited for everything too. We waited until I was 22 and graduating college. We dated for five years long distance. Our only regret is that we didn't get married sooner! Edit. And I will also say my mom is living with her boyfriend now. It's weird because they probably shouldn't get married but it's too complicated to break up and so they are probably just going to keep dating until my mom breaks up with him or decides to settle and marry. Which is sad because she is a widow and …

Have you read Dr. Laura's The Propee Care and Feeding of Husbands? I would recommend it. You are so focused on what your husband can do for you that you aren't thinking of what you can do for him. If you act submissive, he will become dominant. But you can't expect that overnight after so many years or being a shrew. Focus on changing yourself before expecting anything of him.

Yes, thank you for this! I have a difficult time with my appearance because I am very petite and have a hard time looking my age. I want to dress feminine, but I have to be VERY careful of how I pair things, because something too feminine without a sophisticated balance could easily make me look like a child. That said, I also have to wear juniors clothing or the smallest size carried by a store (and many don't even carry my size in the first place), so it's difficult to find clothes that are ap…

Hi! I am here from RPWi. I am a RPW because even though my husband and I love each other very much, something wasn't working right. I started applying the theory to myself and in three days my marriage felt like it was new. I'm 26, a SAHM, and a former high school teacher.

I have often wondered about how women in the workforce has lowered wages. That's very interesting! It would actually be better for society if fewer women worked, wouldn't it? Men would have higher wages and women would be able to stay home and care for children. I think society should definitely encourage women to have more children. Our birth rate is so low right now. I personally think that more children makes for happier, well-adjusted families. Of course there are exceptions to this, but fro…

My husband has a major interview coming up this weekend. He is leaving the military and entering the civilian workforce. He has never had an interview before, though he is working with a great headhunting company that is preparing him well. He is understandably nervous. I am asking for advice for some ways that I can help build him up over the next week so that he is feeling extra confident. Any ideas?

This was me! I was raised on hamburger helper, instant mashed potatoes, and canned green beans. But you know what's awesome? The internet! Tonight we had fresh green beans (cooked with sautéed onions, butter, lemon juice, salt and pepper), we had fresh mashed potatoes with parsley, and baked chicken wth tomatoes and mozzarella cheese over a sour cream and dill sauce. It was delicious! It's taken a few years and lots of internet teaching but I can safely say I've become a pretty decent cook... an…

I was attacked on another sub for talking about being a SAHM. My argument was that I stay busy and find plenty to do to improve my home and raise my kid. The woman was basically saying that on her days off she does my job, including all the chores after her kids are in bed. Our society just doesn't value or understand what a SAHM does. They believe my job is to do laundry, seeep the floors, and cook dinner. And of course that's part of it, but my main job is to RAISE my child. And just like you …

This is what I was going to say. Four months is nothing. I think you are overthinking things because you have put all this pressure on this relationship. If your end goal is marriage and you have already decided he is the one, but you don't have a ring on your finger (I.e. No commitment yet), you will constantly be questioning whether he feels the same way. I think you need to take a step back and recognize that you are still in the early stages of a relationship. You need to change your perspec…

There are definitely ways to look cute without spending a ton of money. You don't need fancy creams or makeup. I use honey to wash my face and coconut oil as lotion and makeup remover. Putting on some powder foundation, blush, lip gloss and mascara will help you feel pretty. No need for a lot of makeup or anything fancy. Drink lots of water, eat healthy, stay active (even going on long walks each day), and you will look and feel quite pretty! You can buy clothes secondhand (I love thredup.com fo…

A deadbeat father? Has he left his family? Does he have a mistress on the side? Does he leave for days on end to get drunk and come crawling back beat up days later? Does he spend their money on drugs? This man is far from deadbeat. No one is perfect. If my husband were exasperated with me and told internet strangers about my worst traits (which he would never do because he's a good man), he could make me look pretty awful. I will second what HappyWifeLifeX says below. I sympathize with your situation, I really do. It sounds difficult. Welcome home! :) I wanted to chime in and say there are many resources out there to educate yourself on the teachings of the church. Reading the catechism, or watching/listening to EWTN, Catholic Anwers, The Journey Home, Call to Communion, for radio and TV, and even reading the lives of the saints (or watching documentaries on the saints). I think this is fair. This is not an ultimatum, since I know you were worried about that. This is a set of goals to work toward, and a way for him to prove himself before you take action yourself. (An ultimatum would be the threat to leave him) I would also add that he seek counseling. Perhaps you seek it together. If you can't afford a counselor, seek out a pastor or someone who will counsel you for free. It sounds like you have a lot of things you need to discuss with one another.

I totally get that. I would probably feel the same way. But you also have to ask yourself what all these chores are worth. If those 10-12 hours you spend on the lawn each week were taken care of by a lawn crew for $100 a month (totally guessing on the price), would you be freed to have some meaningful time with your husband? And how much is that quality time worth? Just a few things to consider.

I am thankful to join in on a trip with my mom and aunts near where I live. I am thankful to my husband for carrying the burden of providing for or family and finding a new job. I am thankful for my son,who is so sweet and learning so much every day! And bonus question. My Mascara because it's the one thing I always try to put on to make myself feel put together when I don't feel like wearing makeup.

I agree with you. I often felt isolated because I did not partake in these things before I was married, but I don't regret it one big. I wonder what kind of baggage I'd be carrying to my family had I lived differently, or even if I'd be married to my husband today! I do think it's sad that many young women feel like they must do these things because they are surrounded by it, but then it just makes them miserable.

DH is in a stressful place in life. 80-90 hour work week, career change coming, and on top of that is in the process of being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that would explain a lot of symptoms, including fatigue and anxiety. It's a value thing too. My husband and I both view porn as immoral, so I would say something if I was in your position. But more like trying to understand "why are you doing this?" And asking how I can help, if I need to more available, what's going on under the surface. Porn can be a real addiction so it's not something that I would ignore but that's just me. Good luck!

Actually a lot of people stay in the military because of the security it provides, especially for medical care. I know many myself. It's one of the major perks to military life, having a housing allowance and paying so little for health care. I'm sad and scared to leave it.

Women who have careers in the military can't be discriminated against for pregnancy just like they can't in the civilian world. I understand the point you are making about the benefits for single moms, but single fathers have these same benefits as well as married soldiers.

I'm willing to bet that it's less intentional than we would think. I mean women on these vessels are surrounded by lonely men and some of them are suddenly extremely attractive to hordes of men for the first time in their lives. My husband has described this phenomenon to me in places he has served with few women. I am sure these ships have places and codes for how to hook up. Lots of sex means that the chances for getting pregnant go up. That's what's I'd think at least.

There are rules for this! She should have had an approved person to care for her child in the books. My husband had a woman he worked with was out processed because her action plan person (her grandma) fell ill and she didn't have anyone else to care for her child. Whatever that woman on Facebook was doing was not okay and if her leadership found out, she would have been discharged! Crazy.

My husband is about to switch careers so I'm making an effort to really listen to all his thoughts and concerns and not try to "solve" the problem, just support him and be there for him. I know that seems obvious but it took me a while to realize this is what he needs most. Oh also I've totally changed my attitude about whah I expect from him when he comes home. My husband worried like this too when I was pregnant. He didn't know all the "facts" so he didn't tell me what to eat or anything. But if I went anywhere without him, he'd tell me how worried he was and to be safe on the road. I think a few times he asked me not to go somewhere. What's the big deal? I've been on both sides of the coin before having kids. I much preferred staying home to working. When I worked, I was teaching and pregnant and had a very rough schedule. I loved Hatchet as a kid! The sequel is good too. Similar books are Where the Red Fern Grows, Old Yeller, and a little bit more mature but Ender's Game is one I enjoyed immensely at age 13 or 14. The Red Badge of Courage is a great boy's book. Huckleberry Finn is a classic too.

Caring for another human being 24/7 is full of wonder and hard work! If you are breastfeeding, be prepared to feel touched out and chained to the couch or bed for 12 weeks. It can take baby an hour to nurse, and they nurse every two hours. Go easy on yourself. You voiced what I was thinking, as I lie here with a sick baby who won't let me leave him to go be with my husband.. I think it's a priority thing, a frame of mind, because realistically life means that with very young children, you are spending a majority of your time caring for them.
