I agree, it would be, and I agree that it's a situation that should be avoided. Sex should hold no shameful stigma for either sex. Yes, it is objectification - but heterosexual sex is not consigned by a single gender, and society as a whole determines what sex constitutes. We are not two separate species.

I do not wish for male sexuality to be stigmatized, and I never expressed anything to that degree. If sex were considered as triumphant for women as it were for men, instances of false rape would diminish (such as instances of 'getting drunk and then regretting it), and parsing true cases of involuntary sex becomes much more straightforward. My point is simply that male and female rapists would be viewed equally, if male and female sexuality were viewed equally.

I have argued that attacking the most 'malleable' source of inequality is akin to attacking the symptom while ignoring the disease. Laws are a manifestation of social norms; merely changing the laws will not effect lasting change. Social norms have demonstrated a capacity for change, and even if we won't see true progress in our lifetimes, it is the path we must take to attain it. What constitutes instinct is debatable.

Because men have historically been encouraged to 'sow their seed', while women have been encouraged towards 'purity' and preserving their virginity. The shameful stigma of sex for women causes society to view female rapists as having less to gain from their crime than men, because women are typically viewed to have 'lost' something in the process of sex.

It's shameful, not (necessarily) evil. Male rapists are more vilified because the act of sex for males is laudable, making its forceful and unjust possession all the more detestable. Female rapists are treated with greater leniency because the act of sex for females is shameful, making it appear as if they have gained less from their crime. The same applies for the victims; male victims are seen to have gained something, female victims are seen to have lost something.

I never claimed discrimination was good. I'm saying it did not emerge from a vacuum, and one must recognize its source to combat it. I would agree that educational discrimination is probably one of the more tenuous methods towards combating inequality - it is probably the phenomenon most analogous towards the typical approach adopted by members of this subreddit (treating the symptom, not the disease)

The difference is the way sex is stigmatized for men and women. To put it simply, for men, sex is praiseworthy, but for women, it's considered shameful (although that's not to say attitudes aren't shifting).
