Is it just me?It can be "weird" AND what you want to do AND what your daughter wants AND ok for your original family unit AND not ok for your new unit all at once. If your gf understands your motives better she might deal with it better. So long as it is not you hankering for your old life but rather you being there for your daughter (without any expectation from your daughter that it will 'fix' anything) then I'd say do it. But go gentle on your gf - in my experience it can be really hard for anyone who has … | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/12/22 10:47 AM
What do you wish was in your custody agreement?UK based here. I wish I had agreed who would be responsible for pick up and drop off. Its always me both ways. I've moved to 2hrs away from the kids and it's still me doing the work. I dou t stipulation of who would do the pick up would last past a move (I mean if I were in her potion I'd say the agreement changes when the location of either pick up or drop off changes). But something to consider. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/22 03:19 PM
Omg I’m so annoyedGood to hear - well done. I managed a lot of this in my divorce by setting expectations and boundaries ("I will prepare the papers by this date, you agree to sign them by that date"). It gave me clarity on when it was ok for me to get annoyed, and when it was that I was getting annoyed just because the process is stressful. It's not meant to be an easy process - mutual respect can help that. If that is lacking, mutual agreement on expectations. If that is lacking - there are ways but you have to… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/07/22 10:59 AM
Feeling like you failedBe kind to yourself. I went through similar emotions - and still do - around how could I have done better, where were the opportunities to address what was going wrong, and why did I not take them? But a relationship takes two people to work at it. Sure I might identify areas I might have done differently - but so could she. All I can do is work on adjusting my behaviour for my next relationship and be kind to myself for my past and love myself for the future. Good luck in finding a new life tha… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/09/20 09:14 AM
Please post your postive post divorce storiesAfter several years of struggling, trying, working at it and not, I told my wife I wanted a divorce and 15 months later it was finalised. I got together with a friend of a friend quickly after and I couldn't be happier. We got engaged and have an 8 month old baby. My ex has met someone and is happier. The exchanges I have with my ex are cordial and collaborative - we work well together. It has not been easy - but well worth it. I'm happier, more confident, I know I have solid friends and family … | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/20 01:30 PM
Grieving DivorceTime, and self care. Exercise. Also find someone you can confide in who has your back and talk to them openly and honestly. I ended up using WhatsApp and an ex-work colleague/friend in another time zone - but it was someone who gave me consistency of advice and let me feel sad without trying to get me to cheer up. It's ok to feel loss. The hardest bit for me was the broken promise. The promise I made to her in front of all our family and friends to have and to hold till death do us part etc ...t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/09/20 10:26 AM
