How is wanting a monogamous relationship seen as a pathology? By whom?

12 or 13. Possibly earlier, but I've always been really terrible at picking up social cues from other people, so the first time I noticed overt male attention was this one time when I was on holiday, there was like a little dance party outside at the hotel pool and I went there to dance. Grown men, including employees of the resort, tried to touch me and hit on me. All I wanted was to dance alone, I had no idea. I was a chubby kid with barely any signs of puberty at that point. Also around the s…

I've definitely had "conversations" like that, either it was dudes who'd never ask questions back no matter the topic, just zero personality (why would you message someone first and then do that??), or they were interested only in talking about sex and getting to a ONS or free porn as fast as possible. Complete wastes of time.

How can you be sure if that relationship is actually good without any comparison? And I don't mean the sexual aspect at all here, I mean what a respectful and functioning romantic relationship looks like, I'm not sure how much you can really assess that without personal experience. So many young people seem to get stuck in toxic relationships because they don't recognize what behavior shouldn't be OK or don't believe that they could find someone else. Several of my friends have stayed with their…

Just an estimate, since it was a long time ago, but I think I had like a 20-25% success rate with asking men out (0 successes IRL, all the successful ones were online - I wasn't trying to deceive anyone, but I'd guess that some of them thought I was less fat than I was IRL). Yes and used me for sex - 10%, genuine relationship - 0, I'm in my first "real" relationship now and he asked me out in this case. We were aiming to be FWBs and started dating from that situation, which I guess answers your …

Or you could just accept it upfront and have open relationships... just a thought. It seems like most men and women cheat at some point in straight "monogamous" relationships, I kinda wonder why that facade is worth it, when I hear how men talk about their both their lovers and their oblivious "official" partners behind their backs.

Do you have any source for this? I've only ever heard about the Dutch state subsidizing "sex care providers" for disabled people to some extent, not literally everyone.

This. Same as what I would tell a socially awkward girl, or myself when I was 20 and had never even kissed a guy. You have value and you can be happy regardless of your relationship status. It can be hard to believe when you're young, but I believe it's genuinely important. Romantic relationships aren't some kind of an automatic human right, they're just a nice enrichment of life when they happen. If you're lacking real life social connections, find interest groups based on your genuine personal…

Our retirement systems being a pyramid scheme is the problem, not a low birth rate itself. If some people don't see marriage and kids as a way to happiness when they have the choice, good for them. Nobody should be having kids for "muh society".

It kinda convinced me that "porn addiction" could be a real problem. I used to absolutely dismiss it as moralizing and pearl-clutching, but it seems to be a common thread in many shitty relationships posted by women.

What? Aren't most women like, 10 times more likely to orgasm from masturbation than sex (especially intercourse)? That's not much of an incentive to want partnered sex. The complaints on DB seem to be mostly about the man's lack of interest harming their self-esteem, and missing any kind of intimate moments.

They can, but realistically it's about as much of a niche preference as one for short men, IMO.

Oh, this. Having bad hair as a woman is really hard. More women than we realize probably wear wigs in public.

Well... I'm a straight woman who's been into BDSM since forever (the BDSM stuff more than sex itself, actually), so I believe it's probably innate for a minority of people like me, but the normalization of very rough sex in most heterosexual encounters seems pretty strange to me. Even when I was starting to date less than 10 years ago, I don't believe it was the default way of having straight sex, just like rimming and anal definitely weren't normalized like I've heard they are now. I don't beli…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
