Yeah putting a shiny spin on controlling behaviors might be prettier, but it's still controlling behavior. You want a captain? Let him lead his own life, at least.

I agree with /u/becauseIlovemyself. You're not attracted to him. Controlling and changing him is going to hurt everyone. Move on.

It's probably not a good idea to give him any instructions while you're in bed - that'd more than likely emasculate him and make him feel annoyed that you're controlling him. A better method might be to sleep with him, and afterwards, tell him something along the lines of, "I loved it when you did __. Next time can we try __, too?" That way you're expressing your desires, and it's up to your captain to try them or not. Edited to ask: is this guy your best friend? Or is he your Captain? It sounds…

Don't try to date any man. Wait for a man to ask you on a date. Otherwise you're cheating yourself out of being pursued, and you're trying to manipulate a man, and that isn't fair to anyone. If your end goal is marriage, befriending men is unwise, too. They might see you as desperate and just try to have sex with you. If he's not pursuing you, you're wasting your time because he doesn't want to be with you. It's the cold hard truth. You'd benefit highly from reading The Surrendered Single by Lau…

Last time I realized I was in a funk, I spent an hour in the bath with a Greek yogurt mask on my face & a good book & a cup of tea. I followed up with some extra reading and crochet and down time that day. I found myself, unsurprisingly, out of the funk later that night. Please practice your self care! It is so easy not to do it. But don't do that. Take time for yourself or everything else in life seems like it's going to fall apart every second when you're probably just exhausted. So take even …

Stewed apples & pears in oats for breakfast! Super tasty with turmeric, cumin, & ginger, too. Also playing with chai recipes lately. It's really easy and fun to find yummy combinations. :) edit: & postmodern theatre. Oh my goodness, reading plays has been glorious.

In the RPW Wiki, the "16 Commandments of Poon" talks about how a woman should say I love you first, call more often than the man, and be more endearing than him in general. I wonder how this fits in with being a single young woman? Does this mean I should talk to a guy I'm interested in instead of waiting for him to initiate contact? How much is too much interest to show him? This is something I've always been a little unsure of -- how much affection to show a guy you're interested in or startin…

I understand it'd be better to let go of it completely for her own emotional sake, but during that process would it be in OP's benefit to find a girlfriend she can vent to about this?

This reminds me of something Laura Doyle says in The Surrendered Single (paraphrasing here): She says to "relinquish control" on a first date by letting him steer the conversation and fill silence, because it isn't necessary to show off your intelligence -- men aren't attracted to it. I feel like this applies here as well because it's feminine to listen more than you speak. It might even be something your man really likes about you because you're not loud, you don't come off as a know-it-all, an…

Are you supposed to go to these things with friends? Or is it okay to go alone? Naturally, I expect it would vary depending on the event, but would it be odd to go alone?

I feel like you're being honest with yourself, which is a good step. And I definitely agree with others: self-improvement should be your number one focus! You have to live with yourself every minute of your life, so you might as well focus on making that an awesome experience. Getting over grudges and a rough past is difficult - I hear you! Give it some time, it'll get easier if you let it & work towards it. :) Also, I'd like to say that therapy might be really beneficial for you, especially if …

This week: Cleaned something every day (sweeping, loads of laundry, the tub, etc.) and always maintaining small messes (dishes, trashes, etc.) Started writing my to do lists at night for the next day, which has led to me being able to plan a few days worth of to do lists at a time. I've started developing long-term goals. This is huge for me, and I see it as a giant step forward in my own path as a good woman because my desires are becoming clearer to me. I'll live with my dad & step mom next se…

Oooh, pumpkin muffins but pipe the cream cheese icing to make them look like mummies! For savory, you could make deviled eggs, but add a little green onion on top of the filling for a "pumpkin stem". Well, he's been contributing more and more housework as time goes on. He'll also pitch in some house supplies here and there, and sometimes he'll pay the internet bill. He's an unpaid apprentice, and he's never fully supported himself -- I feel grumpy with him sometimes when he brings the party home at late hours because he doesn't contribute as much as my sister & me. if he paid his way, I'd be much more willing to put up with it. Sometimes I am afraid he's living off my sister and me -- I've h…

You're right. I definitely made sure to be polite about it. Gah, you're right about therapy too. Honestly, I should get into it while I'm still so young. It'd probably be really beneficial for me -- setting boundaries is probably my biggest concern as far as self-improvement goes, and it's a big one!

You're right, I'm not stuck with him. Again, I am really happy with this living situation. it's convenient for all of us because it's temporary - we all have separate moving plans in a few months, but this works so well for us in the meantime. It was only an issue because I've been having so much trouble sleeping in general lately, and I wanted to make sure his and my relationship was mended properly, if it was at all damaged. Turns out it wasn't, which I'm really grateful for. :)

Well, it's not that dynamic exactly. She and I decided to become roommates for financial reasons, he is part of the packaged deal. She and I are on the lease, he is not. So really, he is living with us, and I do love the living situation - it works well most of the time. :)

He just woke up, and I did apologize. Unfortunately, our apartment is really small, and I am furthest from the living room. I think I'm going to invest in some earplugs as another user suggested, for the future. Apparently I was freaking out over nothing, he actually thanked me for letting him know early on, and we're having nice conversation. It's frustrating that I got so worried about it.

This is an excellent perspective - you are so right. How, then, can I let him know that we can resume things as usual? I honestly just wanted last night to catch up on sleep. Sure, some consideration would be nice in the future, but I'm in a roommate situation and I can't make everyone here abide by my wishes only.

This week has been pretty good! -My dishes are clean immediately after I eat, spent Saturday night at home deep-cleaning the apartment since my roommates were out, and I've kept up on keeping the floors swept (our dog sheds a lot and its been rainy and dirty!) -I haven't been cooking as much as usual due to working nights more than normal, and I plan to get that back on track this week by planning meals and cooking ahead of time. I really think someone hit the nail on the head earlier -- he's got good game. If you literally do not like any of the traits you've seen in him (you hate most of them, right?) then you're foolish to stick around. End of story. Tingly vagina feels do not amount to much in the long run if you do not admire him as a person. You're speaking pretty harshly about him (and your other dates), calling names and saying you hate almost everything you think you know about him. This doesn't seem very femini…

Oh my goodness, these sound scrumptious -- like healthy rice krispy treats! Thank you :) Edited to ask : Should I double boil the peanut butter mixture? Or just heat on stove? And the second "blend" just means to stir in the vanilla extract, right?

Unfortunately, where I live, we have about three big events a year, and the rest is live music, which we usually attend with their boyfriends. I am so grateful for my girlfriends! Which is why I wanted to get them all together in one place. :)

I've felt scared of the comebacks in flirting too. After RPW and a bit of experience dating, I've learned to just be fun and lighthearted, and never insulting (respect is like oxygen to a man). I don't think you can really be bad at it if you're kind and smile often, chemistry sort of takes over to determine how much you'll enjoy it.

One of my friends taught me to crochet actually, and we've been getting together here and there to do more. It's really nice! And another friend of mine and I like to work out together too! I think developing an actual routine would be beneficial for us, and even having a couple other ladies with us would be nice. It's very motivating doing it together, the only thing is trying not to get distracted by out conversations! lol. I'm glad to hear these are things you do too. :)

It's good to know that travel can be a red flag to men! I wasn't aware of this. I have a strong desire to travel, and I'd also love to be married. I don't mean to ask a silly question, but is it a bad thing to tell men in conversation that I'd like to travel?
