I felt the same way and that's ok. I love decorating the way I like, watching the shows I want, hanging out with my cat. I always hated roommates. But now I've lived with my husband for 2 1/2 years in 700 sq ft apartment and...it's honestly the best. We love the same shows, we have the same decor style, eat the same, have the same cleaning habits, same financial goals, and it's only an absolute joy to spend everyday with him. Plus, he loves my cat as much as I do now haha. I don't miss living al…

I just wanna flex for a second: -My fiance regularly uses a bidet -He came home super excited yesterday saying the dentist said his teeth were looking great and to just keep doing what he's doing -Has his barber's personal cellphone number on hand just in case -Has a TAILOR -Makes solid, regular payments to his investments in ETFs and crypto -Eats vegetables every night, works out every morning

same with the church i grew up in. porn addiction was/is literally the biggest problem with men and they have the audacity to throw stones at everyone else.

Also, my fiance really doesn't care if I take his name or not--and it shouldn't to yours either. The right man won't expect or demand it because he knows you're not property. Again, I'm doing it because I like it and I like the tradition, but don't feel pressured one way or the other.

I personally can't wait to take my fiance's last name--first because it's cooler than mine, but also I like the idea of people seeing us as one family. Some women prefer it because it helps when having children to have the same last name. At first, I felt the same way you do about feeling like you're being "passed" from your dad to husband, and if that's how it feels to you, then keep your last name--it's ok. I personally don't feel that way anymore. I see it more as a convenience and enjoyment …

Oh! I would like to play devil's advocate on this and hear your opinions on this. For decades, if not hundreds of years, men said women couldn't do "a man's work" because of menstruation and the "unstableness" of women during her period. I wonder if paid leave during that time would only reintroduce or enforce those beliefs that women are unstable and unable to "men's" work because they menstruate. Let me know your thoughts. I could go either way on this topic.

I'm sure there are still women who will still want to come in to do their jobs during their period. Personally, my period isn't too bad and I can stay on top of things during that time. Some women though are in excruciating pain and definitely need a couple days off. You could even propose a light work-from-home accommodation, too, if possible for office employees--there are plenty of women who wouldn't mind doing computer work from home with a heating pad, hot tea, motrin and candles on the cou…

I messed around with a 43 year old man when I was 18, 19. I thought it was great--I really felt like age didn't matter and felt like I was in control. But I wasn't even remotely mature enough to be with that man. After a year he was arrested for having sex with an underaged girl and viewing underaged porn.

The last one I found is especially true and I would add to it that men who help out YOUR parents and family is extremely high value. When my parents got really sick with covid (then later went to the hospital) he helped me grocery shop and prep dinner for my parents and grandma (who usually depends on my mom).

My fiance is more obsessed with MY cat than I am! It's my cat's birthday today and yesterday he was talking about picking up a cake with birthday candles. Also, every christmas we've been together he buys my cat christmas presents--like completely separate from my gifts. In fact, he's always telling me we should probably get him a another checkup soon. When we were looking at new apartments he made sure we found places that allow cats. He loves me, so he loves my cat because I love my cat. I use…

I studied in Rome for a year, and catcalling was such a problem, but I would say mostly with older men. The Italian director at the school warned me to be careful of any male attention. I also dated a guy from Italy in the States, and he was so emotional and unstable in the relationship, and chalked it up to his "italian culture". Whatever. My advice is to not change your FDS standards for the sake of accommodating his "culture". Don't let foreign men gaslight you into believing "that's just how…

YES, I weightlift about 4 times a week. Lifting weights is even more important than doing cardio for many reasons, but building muscle builds your physical independence. Plus, women have more bone problems when they get older.

If he's lazy, sloppy, and addicted to gaming BEFORE marriage and children, he certainly won't be any better AFTER marriage. It makes me sad when women assume that men are going to magically grow up once they get married and have kids.

On the first date with my now fiance, he drove over an hour to my city in freezing rain, paid for the coffee date, took me to a bookstore and bought me his favorite book, then took me to dinner. "I pay because he drives *20 minutes* to come out see me" *eye roll*

I really despise when men complain they've "lost passion" for their wives but then do nothing to revive it. It's not her fault you've lost passion if during Valentine's Day dinners you sit there and pout, then do nothing else for her.

Why would anyone ask a woman if she's married? What an inappropriate question. Men don't get that question. Yes, I find myself turning down coffee breaks and lunch invites for the same reason. Do NOT misunderstand me. Even being in a relationship doesn't stop men from misunderstanding your intentions. I'm so thankful for the company I work at--our president is female, the CEO is female, and my boss is female. Plus, there's a lot women in other manager positions. It is SO MUCH EASIER.

"lacks empathy" = excuse for being lazy and not caring. A lot of men like to makes this excuse. They turn it around on women so she has to feel bad for him for "lacking empathy" or "not having emotions". I really despise this excuse.

My fiance and I are going to premarital counseling (standard counseling for religious people when you get married with a pastor at a church) and at first, I was really excited because the minister founded an organization that teaches men to act like a men again--be leaders, be strong, take care of and protect their wives. I really like the premise of this foundation, but he CANNOT stop mentioning "women were made for men", yet at the same time he described married couples as "coregents". Ok? so …

When we first started dating and my fiance and I would have spirited discussions about politics or economics or religion, he would talk over me as soon as something popped in his head (because he gets excited lol). I finally told him he needs to stop talking over me and let me finish my sentences and thoughts, and he hasn't talked over me since.

And it's such a difference when you meet an emotionally mature man! My partner now will insist on talking through our problems if I look upset. I used to hate it that he would insist that I tell him what's wrong when I was upset and ignored him. It wasn't until a friend told me that she wished her husband would do the same that I realized I dated so many awful men that would play mind games like the ones you described. It's so emotionally manipulative to call you a hypocrite for breaking up with him after he acts childishly when discussing politics. I'm personally not a fan of people with opposing political views dating, as (in my humble opinion) it seems like a huge difference in lifestyle and personal philosophy these days to be on different political spectrums. Although, I've seen people make it work. In this case, THANK GOODNESS you had different political beliefs. It really brought out how he handles peop…

I DO get what you mean--I was looking for an 18k gold band with a sapphire in it for my fiance but I was shocked how expensive they come (~1500-1700 dollars). I ended up having a similar band made from an Etsy seller custom designed for 700 dollars.

My wonderful fiancé grew up in Saudi Arabia. A significant number of (conservative) men in the Middle East have very distorted and misogynistic views of Western women perpetuated from TV and the internet. Radical feminism and "sex positivity" does NOT help. I can't help but think of this movie we watched the other day called "Blocked" with John Cena. It's about three (possibly under 18?) girls making a pact to lose their virginity on Prom Night. Throughout the whole movie these girls are hyperse…

She doesn't want the "once a cheater, always a cheater" spiel, but clearly the only way she's going to get over this for good is cut off the relationship completely. He didn't meet basic boyfriend standards, and now she's wondering why she's always insecure in their relationship?

Yeahh, honestly, a lot of Persian men don't date white girls to marry--this is true for many Middle Eastern men. You have to go full FDS with these men (and all men). Major red flags if they're giving you too much too soon.

I dated a very handsome, smart, and doting Persian man before...until I found out he was married. Definitely, definitely message the girl with your evidence. She's clearly missing some major red flags and needs women looking out for her. Prepare for a lot of pushback, but be honest and make sure she knows that you're looking out for her.

My partner is from Saudi Arabia which is, of course, very gender separated. There are definitely women's only gyms, shops, cafes, and beaches that are WOMEN ONLY. The biggest fallacy of Saudi women is that they hate this separation--but I learned that they actually really, really like having this separation and privacy. It's mostly due to culture and religion that these separate spaces are made (in almost every area of life), but even as the Saudi Arabia progresses women still way prefer private…
