The book only makes clear the difference between psychopaths and sociopaths. Psychopaths can be more or less normal, but have no real empathy for others. They learn to fake it. I was married to a sociopath, and know how they can wreak havoc on the lives of others. You can think you're married to a loving person, and then realise you're married to a monster who doesn't give a flip for you, or anyone else. Now you don't have to read the book. Good luck.

The whole article assumes a man lying to or duping a woman. Surely the same happens when men are the dupee and women the duper. Only a guess but I'd expect the statistics to be pretty even male/female, but the the context would be different. That is, a woman probably wouldn't show her potential victim a photo of her house. I'll leave it to you to imagine analogous situations where the man was duped. I'm upvoting the OP so this gets needed attention, not because I agree with the proposed legislat…

I know it hurts, and I feel a faint twinge of sentimentality, but fuck 'em for laying a net for us. Apologies for most of you who've heard this but: Why does a vagina have hair around it? That's so that men can't see the hooks. That is what TRP is all about, and you guys are doing a helluva job, but I didn't hear a word about this when I was in my twenties. You young guys don't know how good you've got it: all this really good information, and all those new masturbatory toys, not to mention porn…

My ex used gaslighting, but with a spin. When I became suspicious, and she realized it, she began telling people around me that I was acting strangely, becoming paranoid and drinking more. Only the drinking part was true but her campaign to make me the nutcase was diabolical and successful to some degree, at first anyway. Once a charming sociopath tells your friends that you're losing your mind, well, they tend to see signs of it in your behavior.

maybe the reason it seems so bizarre is that I am the crazy one. Don't let this happen to you. It's a real possibility when dealing with a spouse's personality disorder; they can make you crazy.

...women are aging prematurely... Really? I see no evidence, even anecdotal, that supports this statement. A woman who wants to boost her desire for sex can talk to her doctor and ask for testosterone cream or patch. The levels of testosterone determine both male and female levels of sexual desire, other factors being equal.

A whore accepts cash for sex but usually it's an honest transaction. When a woman screws around on a loyal bf/husband she's much worse than a prostitute.

In the sidebar links to "Required Theory Reading" you'll see Men in Love that talks about that subject. Basically it says that despite the Blue Pill belief that women are more romantic and men realistic, the opposite is more often true.

Yes, she's good and unbiased in my opinion. Before Tannen, academia accepted that men simply talk more than women, based on several studies with pathetic experimental design. My MA thesis critiqued these studies and gave the results of my own study that concluded if socio-economic status was controlled for there was no statistical difference between men and women. ' I got the MA but as a man my thesis was not well received since it was clearly politically incorrect. A few years later Tannen said…

The rest...bullshit I agree but if anyone is interested in how the conversational styles of men and women differ, check out: You Just Don't Understand: Women and Men in Conversation by Deborah Tannen. Tannen capsulizes her theories by saying that women use "rapport talk" but men use "report talk."

In fact I agree with you and was surprised the doctor said those things. That was a few years ago and maybe the situation, and his mind, have changed somewhat. My doctor told me he will never get his prostate checked for cancer. Why? It is an extremely slow-growing cancer while you will be freaked out about the condition over many years thus interfering with your quality of life. There is little that can be done about it. To determine that you absolutely have it requires an invasive surgical procedure that could hasten your death.

Many years ago when I outlined my planned MA thesis to my faculty advisor, a critique of several studies showing that men tended to control conversations with women, both one-on-one and in groups, plus my own study, her first remark was that several women experimenters in one of the studies were, friends of hers. I wrote it as proposed and got the MA. [My study, which used a much bigger sample that the ones critiqued, showed that when matched for age and other factors, there was no difference be…

I think feminism gets quite a lot of publicity. I support it myself. In this case though I think she was trying to promote herself and her breasts more than the cause she ostensibly supports. It's a difficult call but to me it looks like she's promoting her own body rather than the cause she says she's working for. I could be wrong but that's how it looks to me.

I believe false charges of sexual harassment carry a heavy fine or even imprisonment, at least in this country, but you have a limited time to protest. Good luck. One student often came unannounced to my office to chat. She was a foreigner in this country. Two and a half months after her last visit to my office she accused me of approaching her and kissing her. I was fined about US $5,000 and never promoted after that, as with you, based only on her word, all lies. I learned from her seminar tea…

I'm not fearful of all women but I'm never going to marry one again. Forever alone and with male buddies sounds great to me. Women can take a lesson here too: why make it legal? If you like someone, or think you do, stay with them. If it doesn't work out, just drop off the key and leave. In any case, no hard feelings.

By the way, I never insinuated that all women were responsible for my situation: only one. I did suggest that 99% of men and women tend to believe the man is usually wrong in such cases.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you cheat on her and then prove conclusively that there was adultery? Yes, I was venting and wouldn't have unless I was quite drunk when I posted that. And I might have seemed to indict all women which is obviously not applicable, but both men and women who cheat usually "lie like hell" before and after they're caught, don't they? Thank you, and I really mean it. I live in Japan where the laws are different. Unless I can prove conclusively that there was adultery, and that is difficult, then divorce is almost impossible. Mental illness is one condition for divorce but even then it would be a protracted and very expensive procedure so I will most likely just disappear from this country, remain married and hope that eventually she'll want to contact me to make a consensual divorce so she can remarry someone as stupid as me.…

People love to make assumptions and one assumption in 99% of cases is that it was the man's fault. He was fucking around and she was innocent, but that is not what the statistics show. Women screw around as much or more than men. The man is always wrong is what most people want to believe, but I've lived through it and they can lie their asses off. Sound bitter? I do not disagree with you. Right now I'm in one of those marriages in which mistrust, for clear reasons, has already destroyed the relationship but the legal nastiness has not yet begun. So I know a bit about the delicacy of trust. Retest: After writing that it hit me that I know nothing about the test or if a retest might give different results. I was talking through my hat. But I think the mandatory test is good. The thought of possible lawsuits would cool the libidos of both sexes so there w…

Even on retest? In many of those false negatives, I think the husband will not be upset after the statistics are explained to him. That is, in some marriages I think, paternity test results would not break up the family, at least where a whole lot of trust is involved.

There are a lot of pregnant women out there who are very upset about this. Expect a wave of abortions within days. [Edit: To be fair, I'm sure there are many men, the naughty ones, who are worried and a lot of private investigators who are looking forward to more clients. Those guys are expensive. My comment was not intended to be sexist because, as they say, it takes two to tango.

Factory2: Perhaps you did not read the links sneggiwt provided above. To summarize, research shows that "male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%." Whether you decide to be circumcised or have the procedure done to your son(s) is of course up to you but sneggiwt has given us some very important information to consider.

Wouldn't teaching men to skin it back, wash and apply a bit of disinfectant—something that did not burn genitals—have the same preventive effect as circumcision and be a lot cheaper?

I think many/most people in the US do not know that men in the UK, except Jews of course, are for the most part uncircumcised. Can someone answer the following question for me? Why are most non-Jewish men in the US circumcised? One possible answer is that doctors, at some point in US history began to insist on it because they could make a few extra bucks. That is merely conjecture on my part. I'm hoping for a definitive answer if that is possible.

You feminists like to spew lies and misconceptions about men--your present post is a good example--but you get really upset when men point out the inaccuracies in your rhetoric.
