You’re not wrong, if he truly loved you he wouldn’t give you an ultimatum of moving to America or relationship is over. That’s not compromise. That’s not love. You’re basically leaving everything behind, and risking to move with someone who could possibly change his mind and leave you. Please consider that carefully. Tell him you won’t move until you guys are married. Let’s see what he says about that. I’m pretty sure he won’t like it because he sounds like he’s trying to get the best out of you…

Exactly! But they do that because they like the benefit of having a girlfriend. So instead of breaking up they string her along, until they find someone else they can use. Personally my ideal time would be two years. I feel like that’s enough time to know about the person, their family, friends and habits. And by then the honeymoon phase of the relationship is over so we’re both clear headed and know if we’re really compatible.
