| 1 | On addictionCaffeine is a stimulant, yes. But it's an indirect one. It doesn't work directly with dopamine or noradrenaline like amphetamines or cocaine do. It does just antagonize adenosine receptors, which (adenosine) is a inhibitory neurotransmitter that promotes sleep. Caffeine action on dopamine levels aren't even remotely comparable to other NDRA or NDRI stimulants, which directly boost dopamine levels, and that's the reason why it doesn't give you any euphoria.
