Oh god, let me try this again. Read it slower than you usually do, be sure to sound it out with your big stupid mouth: Your little internet argument is with a different user, fucktard.

I'm not even the person you were arguing with, but good try dipshit.
/r/MensRights02/03/14 11:42 PM

What? Yes you did. Should have simply been titled, "feminists ruin event. Again". What is this bizarre form of argument where you make an unfounded claim and then, when someone points out it's unfounded, accuse them of doing the same and demanding they present evidence to refute the thing you just made up?

Um...isn't it obvious the people putting up signs about "pretending to be victimized" are already passing judgment on who's the victim?
/r/MensRights17/11/13 06:13 PM

If you are victimized, you are not playing a victim, you are a victim. Uh, okay. Who decides whether your victimization is "legit," then? This is the same shaming used to silence men from speaking out about their own issues.

Seriously? This is no different than the "man up" bullshit you guys always claim as misandry.

Gender =/= biological sex.

let's not pretend like calling yourself a boy when you are genetically a female changes anything about the fact that you're a female Yeah, you've obviously done some real extensive research.

Frankly, the whole "gender" thing as distinct from "sex" is total nonsense. Thank you for spewing this bullshit early enough to save me from wasting time trying to explain anything to you.

It doesn't take away from the fact that complaints about the announcement are pretty useless Totally agree, but I think a lot of transgendered folks are fighting just for awareness and recognition, so they saw this as a chance to latch on to a trending topic and be seen. I was simply clarifying what seemed to be a misunderstanding about anatomy versus gender.

First off, the bizarre aggro response to simply answering somebody's question is unnecessary. I get it, it's the internet and you're super tough. Now try to have a conversation like a grown up. Your whole "the person is not able to identify at 1 day old" is exactly the point these people were making (not the ones hating on the mere fact that the kid is male): the kid will decide his gender identity when he gets there.
/r/MensRights23/07/13 05:31 PM
5

In this case they are referring to the way a person identifies, not anatomy. So you couldn't change your male bits without biochemical intervention, but it's very possible you could have grown up feeling like you're actually a girl, or a girl who's attracted to girls, or some other variation of gender.

I didn't read anything in that article that implies feminism had anything to do with it. I took from the piece that it was more about civil rights, since the death penalty was mostly used against black convicts.

Except the comment I replied to wasn't arguing rape, it was arguing that the assumptions made in this thread about how she's automatically saying only men should be punished and that the idea of "consent" should include whatever rules two people have established for their sexual relationship. Great try with the ad hominem attack, though. Really makes you seem informed and knowledgeable.

I think in some states it is considered sexual assault to knowingly spread an STD. Might just apply to HIV/AIDS though.

You should be asking these questions to feminists if you want a debate. What you seem to want is people to agree with your points.
/r/MensRights13/05/13 03:07 PM

People start behaving that way when they live in an echo chamber of their own ideas and convince themselves that "all" of any one group thinks or acts in one specific way. Sort of like what you're doing here.

Just to play Devil's Advocate, she has repeatedly said she does not identify as a feminist in the comments on her own page. I haven't read enough of her blog to know if that directly contradicts a previous statement or not.

Depending on your state laws, recording a phone call could at best be inadmissible in court and at worst get you busted for trumped up wiretapping charges. OP: know the law before you start recording phone calls.

I understand it's fun (and easy!) to write in heavy-handed sarcasm, but it makes it really hard to communicate your legitimate issues when even the people on your side are wincing. This article brings up a salient point only to bury it.
/r/MensRights27/08/12 02:43 PM

As would I. But some people might just come here for the camaraderie/commiseration. I think the point is there's not really a right or wrong answer, just that the majority of us don't agree with this person (and she really botched her analogy).

Playing Devil's Advocate: one could argue there is no shortage of places to find people who disagree with feminism in the outside world, and their subreddit is a place to find commonality and sympathetic people to discuss issues they face together. Much like this sub. That said, I firmly believe if you actively avoid people you disagree with you're going to have a warped worldview.

Eh, I guess it's wrong (unless the employer can demonstrate women are better suited for the job over men somehow, in which case I believe it's legal to say something like "must be a woman"), but this seems less like "anti-man conspiracy" and more like "small operation with a specific idea of what they want not realizing the consequences of their ham-fisted approach."
/r/MensRights03/11/11 11:51 PM

I guess I can ask because I don't see evidence (yet) that this actually was a feminist plot and not just some nutter wanting to have Justin Bieber's baby and/or bilk him for money. Those things are deplorable in their own regard, but they strike me as more the product of mental imbalance than feminism (cue "they are the same thing" joke). Feminists may advocate this, but does that mean every case of female-on-male statutory rape is a feminist ploy? I don't really understand what you mean by this…

Yes, odds are it's a joke/prank. But even suggesting that the police might want to know about this brought out redditors scolding me for daring to take it seriously. What would the reaction be if the genders were reversed?

No, seriously. You're just trolling. I've repeatedly clarified that I'm not arguing that people are not mindless automatons. I'm pointing out that people do some things because we are hardwired as social primates to blend in with the group, in this case dressing sexy/slutty. Not once have I said "women do this because they are dumb" or "women do this because they don't have the ability to resist the pressure like men do." You have repeatedly tried to jam these words down my throat, making you th…

We were talking about women, hence my example of women. The same types of pressures, albeit through different messages, apply to men just as equally. Is your shtick just parsing enough out of comments to get pissed off and then posting some sarcastic jab at your own misinterpretation?
/r/MensRights05/05/11 10:36 PM

I'd agree with that. I wouldn't argue that people mindlessly emulate it, but I do think the influence it exerts is greater than people realize individually.
/r/MensRights05/05/11 09:50 PM

Actually, it's statistics, not objectification. You're already hellbent on being offended though, so by all means go for it.

I'm inclined to think the kind of person who rapes is likely to seek out the path of least resistance. Maybe it's a combination of our arguments.
/r/MensRights05/05/11 07:50 PM
1

I don't think it's "society tells us to act in a certain way and we do it because we're mindless automatons." I think it's "images of people acting a certain way are prevalent, and our primitive ape brains wired for conformity pick up on that subconsciously and influence our behavior accordingly."
/r/MensRights05/05/11 07:46 PM

I think it's over-generalizing to say "women need to get over this notion." I would argue most women are at least aware of the increased vulnerability they have just by being women. That said, I agree with you on your "perfect world" point about responsibility. Maybe the dissonance comes from framing this as either a "women need to change" or "men are pigs" argument. Rapists are rapists; no amount of safeguards or preparation is going to stop all of them from trying something.
/r/MensRights05/05/11 06:38 PM

You make a fair point about it going both ways. I feel like the type of rape we're referring to here, though, the "late night, back alley, random assault" is more likely to happen to just about any woman, regardless of dress. What I think the "slut" phenomenon relates more closely to is date rape, usually justified by "what did she expect, wearing that?" or "she shouldn't have had so much to drink," etc. In those cases a woman is going out for a night on the town, trying to look her best (again,…

I think you're minimizing the effect it has on people. It's not as simple as "I saw this on television so I will emulate it." We are awash in our culture, and as a species we're very fine tuned to social cues that help us follow the pack, not make waves, and keep our social status.
/r/MensRights05/05/11 04:57 PM

I think the problem with your analogy is that there is not a hegemony in society that says in order to be an attractive, sexy man you should dress with money hanging out of your pockets. A lot of women, particularly young women, are socially conditioned to dress slutty for a night out because it's what mass media tells them people expect.
