Obviously raw physical attraction will fade as we age but if I'm already lukewarmly attracted to someone in the early stages then the physical chemistry just isn't strong enough it to last in the long term.

Sometimes a guy will find a woman attractive enough to sleep with for a night or a few but not for the next few years (let alone the rest of his life). For instance, at least for me there were a few women who I've slept with in the past who I thought were hot enough for a few nights of casual sex, but I definitely wasn't attracted to them enough to want to sleep with them repeatedly long-term. It wouldn't have been fair to both them and me to date them if I wasn't super turned on by them. Genera…

I love all aspects of a relationship, like being able to share cool experiences together, share an emotional bond, etc. but IMO sex is a necessary aspect of a relationship. A relationship WITH sex isn't necessarily a good relationship but a relationship WITHOUT sex is missing a crucial component and is doomed to fail.

Signs she respects you: Shows genuine interest in your passions and hobbies Is there for you when things aren't going perfectly for you... for example if your job is at stake, if you're sick or injured, etc. Lets you live your life without always questioning your judgement or trying to control you/change you Speaks highly of you to her family/friends and doesn't air your dirty laundry Offers to pay sometimes when you go out Signs she doesn't respect you: Often questions or second-guesses your ac…

Honestly the biggest way to tell is if she treats you with respect or not. How sexual she is with you isn't even that great of a tell; PLENTY of girls will put on a show and be all freaky in bed until she secures commitment. There's the stereotype that women stop giving blowjobs after the wedding for a reason. But it's almost impossible for someone to feign respect and admiration for you when in reality they see you as beneath them. Especially over a long period of time... if someone doesn't res…

I love to travel but I think it's really tacky to brag about it in a way like "I've been to 50 countries". I feel like these kinds of people see it more of a status symbol than anything... like "Look at how adventurous I am!" What's funny is that a lot of these "I've been to 50 countries" people are often the ones who only stay in 5-star hotels (often paid for by their parents), spend most of their time posing for Instagram photos, and only hanging out with other American tourists. So much for b…

Plenty of people are on their best behavior after getting into an LTR, but I can definitely see the comfortability factor making some people care less about keeping up their A game when they feel like they already "got" their partner. Fuck that shit, people should always be improving themselves (especially in an LTR), and anyone who "lets themselves go" past a certain point deserves to get dumped.

It really depends. People on here like to act like all FWB arrangements are just crazy pornstar sex with zero strings attached and no drama involved while LTRs consist of nonstop arguments and once-a-month missionary sex. From my experience FWB usually has more drama because feelings always get involved from either side or both, even if we had gone into the arrangement not looking to catch feelings. It's bound to happen eventually if strong attraction is involved... honestly the most stable FWB …

Yeah if someone's personality is really unattractive then it definitely takes then down a few notches for me. However there is a limit too... if a girl is REALLY hot then she'd have to be worse personality-wise to turn me off. My open-minded I mean someone who doesn't judge me but is also open to trying new things and venturing out of their comfort zones. I consider myself to be pretty adventurous and I wouldn't mesh well with someone who only wants to live life deep within the confines of their…

My perspective can change a lot based on personality; someone who's really interesting and fun to be around for example is automatically more attractive in my eyes. On the other hand, someone who's superficial, bitchy, or annoying will become unattractive to me even if she's objectively good looking. Let's not kid ourselves, looks matter. A great personality can make a 6/10 seem like an 8-9/10 but the same can't be said for a 3/10. For example, someone who's overweight/obese will never be sexual…

Outside of looks, I see someone as LTR material if she's interesting and fun to talk to, kind, open-minded, and independent. I don't really care about what her job is or how much she makes as long as she's able to take care of herself and doesn't expect me to financially support her lifestyle. Also, lack of social media usage is a HUGE plus. I hate social media and if a girl is always posting on there and trying to show off then it's a massive turn-off. I'm cool if she uses it for something crea…

I personally don't really give a shit about social media and I find it annoying when people gush about their SO on social media all the time. Especially when a lot of times people I know are actually going through problems, making their sappy Instagram posts look fake as hell. HOWEVER I'd also find it a red flag if a guy/girl posts a lot of pictures on social media but never posts his/her SO. It's one thing if someone just doesn't post a lot on social media in general (like me) and doesn't post …

I have a few close female friends who I grew up and basically knew since I was in my early teens. Objectively speaking they're decently attractive but I kinda see them as "one of the boys" and have never felt anything beyond platonic towards them. It's nice because I don't have to filter myself around them... when you've known people for over a decade there's no need to impress each other or hold back on opinions. Overall I think that male-female friendships can easily exist without any feelings…

Women 100% take rejection worse than men in my experience. Most men are pretty used to getting rejected... even attractive guys get rejected often if they approach a lot of girls. On the other hand, even okay looking girls will be used to getting a lot of attention from men (especially with online dating) so to women, getting rejected is a HUGE deal and will stick with them.

Depends... I like to drink, party, and do drugs on occasion so I'd definitely want to date someone who also shares the same interest to some degree. Someone who has zero interest in it wouldn't be a good match for me. At the same time, I wouldn't date someone who goes out and gets hammered multiple times a week because that's definitely too much for me.

Honestly if a woman takes good care of her body/health and exercises on a regular basis, she can look youthful and hot into her mid-late 30s. I live in a big metropolitan city and it's not uncommon to see women in their 30s who can easily pass as someone in their mid-20s. On the other hand, women who continue to drink and smoke like they're in college will very quickly lose their looks and hit the wall as early as their mid-20s.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/20 08:48 PM

Depends on where you are. In big cities like NYC, most young people are decently in-shape so the bar is far higher. However, in less metropolitan areas, an a thin woman with an average face would start to appear attractive simply because most other women would be overweight.

Huge dick move, and you'll lose him as a friend. IMO friends' exes should always be off limits if the relationship was serious. And given your friend was with her for 2 years it had to have been serious. Only exception to this rule in my books is if the friend cheated on his ex and that's why they broke up.

I'm only into women with a slim and toned bodytype, so honestly anything that doesn't fit that profile. Also, short girls. I don't have a hard cutoff but I rarely find women <5'3 attractive.

It matters a TON, and I'm saying this as a late bloomer. I grew up pretty shy and out of shape, but my body is pretty naturally built for athletics and I pick up sports/stay lean easily. Additionally, even at my shyest point I still found it pretty easy to make friends (given that other people did the heavy lifting at first). Obviously I had zero romantic success back then but at least I was likable and never felt like a loner. Nowadays with the social anxiety out of the way meeting people is pr…

Women should be free of any gender expectations such as cooking, cleaning, etc but men should still pay for dates and financially provide for women. I feel like most women feel this way nowadays.

I do want to eventually get married. But in the end it really depends on our sex life. If we have fun and passionate sex on the regular and she calls me "husband material"? Perfect. If we have boring duty sex once or twice a month? Salt in the wound.

To be fair these are the cartels you're talking about. There are many videos out there of the horrendous shit they do to people who go against them, those women really didn't have a say in the matter.

If a woman is thin and in her 20s/early 30s, then I'll most likely find her at least attractive enough to have sex with. Since I live in a big city, I'd say ~40% of women I see on a day-to-day basis fit that profile. I definitely have higher standards in terms of dating though... I'd say that maybe 10-15% of women I see are attractive enough for me to date.

I was skinny fat/chubby for most of my life and basically invisible to women. During my early 20s I lost a lot of fat and gained a bunch of muscle, and the difference was enormous. I ended up actually getting a good amount of matches from online dating, and could hook up pretty easily from it. Girls were also WAY more receptive when I approached in real life too. Now I’m not some model who has girls throwing themselves at him 24/7, but I certainly do a lot better than I ever could have imagined …

It's not just about dating a girl who has had casual sex in the past... I've dated girls before who have definitely slept around in the past and I never cared, but that's because THEY ALSO HAD CASUAL SEX WITH ME. The problem is when a girl has had casual sex in the past but then makes her boyfriend wait and jump through all sorts of hoops for sex. It's like having to go through an extensive interview process for a job, masters degree, 5 years experience in the field, etc and then finding out you…

I think "charm" and seduction is 90% delivery and your overall vibe, versus what you say. I've seen guys say very "smooth" things to girls but fall flat because their delivery and overall demeanor was off. I've also approached girls before in the past, say the right things, and also get rejected because I was nervous or not feeling that social. On the other hand, I've also said some absolutely retarded things to girls and still have them dig it, because I was feeling very confident and self-assu…

Not escalating fast enough. This one used to bite me in the ass ALL THE TIME. I used to think that trying to have sex with a girl was "not respecting them", and that I should wait X amount of dates before making a move. Case in point -- back in college, I met this girl in a dance class who was instantly very into me. I thought she was cute too and I wanted to date her. We went out a couple times and she would always be hitting me up and looking absolutely ecstatic whenever she saw me. One night,…

No they usually meet guys through online dating or at bars/events. After going out with a guy a few times they'll probably ask him for his Insta, if he doesn't have one then it's ghost city. If he has one, she'll "evaluate" his Insta with her friends, and if they don't approve then it's "Sorry this isn't working out" city. For the record the type of girl I'm talking about are usually the upper-middle-class type who are obsessed with status and went to a private school, there are plenty of girls …

I've been thinking about this topic lately and I definitely think that social media has negatively affected a lot of women in my age group (lower-mid 20s). I live in NYC and I work in an industry that's heavily female-dominated, and has a lot of "Stacey"-type girls so this is all from anecdotal experience on my end. I know a LOT of girls who are overly concerned with how they're perceived on Instagram. It's common for girls to be checking their phone every 5 minutes after posting something, to s…

A man can only open up to a woman without her losing attraction if he does it from a position of control and being a winner. A big mistake a lot of guys make when "opening up" is that they unload a lot of their insecurities onto their girl, and make themselves look too weak. Now it's okay to admit to some insecurities, but the crucial part is that YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT KNOWN THAT YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER THEM. For example: Good - I used to be made fun of for being skinny as a kid, that pushed me to t…

There is definitely a limit on what 18 year olds would know when it comes to politics and ideas and just life in general, especially since the majority of them have never even gotten the chance to be independent yet. Not trying to say that people in their 20s and beyond are automatically much "wiser", but there isn't denying the fact that there's a HUGE gap in maturity between someone who has just graduated high school, versus someone who has actually worked a full-time job and has lived on thei…

The alcohol REALLY catches up with the heavy partiers after a few years, especially when it comes to weight. I remember going to college with a few girls who were model status when we were freshmen. But after years of weekly drinking, they are now 30+ pounds heavier in their mid-20s and look nothing like what they used to.

I can't think of anything a 40 year old man would have in common with an 18 year old. Like seriously, what would I even have to talk about, if I were dating a teenager? Besides having to listen to a bunch of bullshit school drama.

Yup, part of a reason why I wouldn't date an 18-19 year old girl is because my family/friends will (rightfully) think I'm a creep. Hell I'm in my mid-20s and I'd find it weird if one of my peers was dating a teenager... if someone I know is in his 40s and still dating a teen then yeah I'd definitely be judging.

It really depends on where you live... I used to live in the South and 22-23 would be considered "old" to get married. On the other hand, in NYC it's pretty common to not get married til your 30s. Overall though I'd say that if a girl takes care of herself, exercises several times a week, and limits the drugs/alcohol/cigs, she can look youthful into her early-mid 30s. The idea that women hit "the wall" in their late-20s is largely false unless you're only talking about people who are getting bla…

I’m frugal when it comes to stuff like buying clothes or drinks when going out, but I do like splurging on experiences like weekend trips, international travel, music festivals, etc. I make pretty good money but I people who don’t know me would probably assume I make a lot less.

I've been single for a few months so far. Most of my friends are also single. When we hang out it's usually to practice our mutual hobby, or go hiking, or just hang out in various parts of our city. I think part of it has to do with the fact that I'm frugal too, and providing for less "insta opportunity" like you said. I'm not the biggest fan of spending money to go to fancy places to eat/drink, and am happy doing things that are within a certain price range.

I'd say I'm fun to be around, but I'm just not a very social person outside of the people I already know, and I am not really the "life of the party" type of guy a lot of girls seem to go for.

I've had two LTRs in my past, and our sex lives differed greatly. LTR 1: We had sex most nights we were together, and the nights we didn't have sex were usually when I was too tired after a night out Can't remember a single time she turned me down during the entire relationship Was down to experiment and try all sorts of stuff in bed Would always give me BJs every time we hit the sheets Often bought sexy underwear on her own to surprise me with Initiated very often Got in bed with me during the …

No we were never married. Honestly a big part of it was fear/obligation/guilt. She REALLY knew how to lay on the guilt; plus she had some dirt on me I was afraid she'd spread to my circle, so it took me a while to muster the courage to leave.

Honestly he's just a massive doormat and super submissive... what's funny is that he's actually a pretty good looking guy -- sort of has that model look to him. I think he could pull pretty easily if he developed a backbone + lifted (he's very skinny).

She basically goes out drinking on weekends without him on a regular basis. Sometimes she'll go hang out with male friends alone, with alcohol/drugs involved. Or grab drinks with old FWBs. From what I know she generally doesn't fuck the guys she hangs out with (although I know it's happened before), I think a lot of these behaviors are just for attention. But it's still pretty disrespectful to her BF and I honestly think he has zero self-respect for putting up with it.

YES this is so true. My ex was kind of like this -- picking some place to go for dinner was often a pain because she HAD to be "in the mood" for whatever food we ate. While I'm the kind of guy who can just go anywhere and get #2 on the menu and be satisfied. Even on nights where we were just going to get a bite to go and hang out, I'd often have to suggest 4-5 places (with her turning down each suggestion) before one finally stuck.

Calling out a pattern of bad behavior: If I've been leaving dirty dishes/trash on the table every night for weeks, or letting the kitchen get disgusting with my GF having to clean it up multiple times, or if I've shown up to work late a bunch of times and have gotten a warning from my boss. I'd certainly be open to being called out for all these. Nagging: If I normally do all my dishes but left some crumbs on the counter and she berates me for that. Or if I decide to have an extra drink at dinne…

Seriously though... it's RARE to meet a girl nowadays who isn't super into Instagram. I don't mind if she posts occasionally and uses it to keep up with her friends, but HOLY SHIT pretty much every girl nowadays is posting bikini/clubbing pictures 24/7.

I think it's a mix of both. I'd rather date someone who likes to get drunk at her apartment with her circle of friends, than someone who likes to get drunk and then hit up a crowded bar/club full of strangers until late in the night. Obviously I'd rather date someone who doesn't get drunk often at all (because I don't), but the first in that example would certainly be preferable.

Simplest way I could put it, is someone who gets drunk and participates in nightlife on a regular basis. I personally drink on occasion to catch up with friends or try out a new place -- but it's always in a "grab a few drinks after work" context, rather than get trashed and hit up a club or some super-packed bar until 3am. I'd say I actually drink to get drunk only a handful of times a year, and only for special occasions (birthday, concert, celebration, etc), so I'd like someone who's on the s…
