This. If you really have been trying for 22 months, it's probably time. Most doctors will see you after trying for a year, and it often takes a while to get an appointment (or so I've heard). If you're looking for something to read about TTC, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is full of tips. Also Making Babies, which ties in some Western medicine aspects too.

I would say extra socks, too. Have you tried hiking poles? My sister and (female) cousin who do lots of hiking love them.

I started trying to lose the 30 pounds I gained while on hormonal birth control earlier this year (bc implant removed at the end of Jan). So far, I've lost 10 pounds. I'm not a nutritionist or dietician or medical professional but here are the changes I've made, in case they can help you! Gym 3x a week, 15-20 minutes cardio followed by 25-30 mins of strength training. Before, I was only jogging 2-3x a week. Smaller breakfast and lunch. It was really hard for the two weeks. But I swapped my break…

The writing quality is meh but the online magazine Evie is truly pro-femininity (unlike some mainstream magazines) and they have style section and beauty section. I like to pop over every once and a while to see what they have to say about trends. https://www.eviemagazine.com/section/style https://www.eviemagazine.com/section/beauty

For regular pie crust you want the butter to be cold - and use ice-cold water, too, if the recipe calls for it. This will result in a tender and flaky rather than a rubbery crust when baked. Shout out to Alton Brown's old show Good Eats for teaching me stuff like this.

I know you asked for pie crust recipes and not pie but since you mentioned key lime, my FH absolutely loves when I make this key lime pie recipe so it's a winner in my book: https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/key-lime-pie/ If you don't have Joy of Cooking, see if you can pick up a (used) copy at a yard sale or library sale. It's my go to for American staples like pie crusts and biscuits.

We've been loving pulled chicken tacos and had them several times in the past month. I don't usually measure but here's my attempt at a written recipe: Dump 3lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts into the crockpot with a pinch of salt, 1ish tsp chili powder, 1-15oz can enchilada sauce, 1 medium onion (sliced), and one bell pepper (sliced). Cook on high 3-4 hours, remove chicken and shred, reduce sauce on the stove if needed, mix sauce and shredded chicken back together. Optional: add spinach (fr…

Yes! And when something becomes a habit you can replace it with a new, manageable goal. Good luck.

Have you tried setting achievable goals and writing them down? Even for little things? That can help with self-discipline and learning new things without it being overwhelming. In your case I might consider writing out things like: JOB HUNT Make a resume and read/watch tips on job interviews Apply to 5 jobs this week Find appropriate job interview outfit COOKING Try one new recipe each week (start by browsing YouTube or checking the cookbook section of your local library or thrift store) Make a …

My FH proposed New Years' Eve. We were out of town on a mini-vacation, visiting a small town that has some personal significance (I'm not from there but many generations of my family were). While we were planning the trip, I thought on multiple occasions that this would be the perfect time for him to propose--on vacation by ourselves, during the holidays, visiting a personally significant location, and we had been talking a lot about having kids and buying a house. We made NYE dinner reservation…

Beans and lentils are super cheap, especially if you buy dried rather than canned. You should be able to cook dried beans quickly in your pressure cooker. Also buying bone-in chicken rather than boneless will save money (or just stocking up when the boneless chicken is on sale). Eggs are a good option as well for cooking dinner on a budget. Some regular items in my rotation that are easy and cheap: -vegetarian chili with cornbread (black beans, kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, onion, garlic, bell…

All Clad is great! I have a stockpot and a 9x13 baking dish. They're both excellent.

Do you have a dutch oven? My 7-1/4 quart dutch oven gets a lot of use in terms of both stovetop cooking (soups, stews, curries, beans) and baking (bread).

I work from home most of the time too and I am always sneaking in little homemaking tasks in my workday - start the laundry before I log in for the day, and when I take a break go put it in the dryer, another break take it out. Or start a loaf of bread right when I wake up so it does it's first rise and gets shaped before I start work. All I have to do while I'm on the clock is pop it in the oven after the second rise, and it'll be ready by lunchtime. I also sometimes use my lunchbreak to prep d…

I think the other commenters make some good suggestions about getting to the root cause of your feelings. I just wanted to pop in and say that a good compromise for clothes can be leggings and a t-shirt dress, shift dress, or swing dress in a jersey material. I've always dressed pretty feminine so dresses and skirts never felt foreign to me, but I did during the pandemic fall into the trap of wearing sweatpants all the time and had to find a way to break the habit. Leggings+comfy dress was a gre…

I roasted a chicken on Monday night (super basic, drizzled with olive oil and rubbed with just salt and pepper, threw a sliced onion, carrots, celery, and mushrooms in the pan). We had that with roasted broccoli and salad greens. After eating it fresh Monday night and leftovers yesterday, we still have half the chicken left. Tonight we had vegetarian chili topped with sharp cheddar and sour cream, with tortilla chips for dipping. I added frozen spinach to the chili for some extra hidden veggies.…

I love Little Women, too, but most people have heard of that. My mom suggested An Old Fashioned Girl to me when I was in middle school and I've reread it countless times since then.

Anyone have literary characters to share? I LOVE Polly Milton in Louisa May Alcott's An Old Fashioned Girl and Meg in Little Women and think they are inspiring.

I put up a small display for myself and my boyfriend (he loves it). We have a pretty small apartment, so I put decorations on the TV console (festive cloth over the console table, a few figurines), the living room bookshelf, the big windowsill in the kitchen (Christmas-tree shaped candles, twinkle lights, Santa figurine), and a wreath on the exterior door. It feels much cozier in here now!

You can also put some ground cinnamon into a pot of water and simmer if you don't have essential oils. I did this recently when I accidentally spilled a bottle of fish sauce in the kitchen and it got rid of the smell pretty quickly.

I've always enjoyed cooking/baking but really got into it in high school when I decided I wanted to learn to bake cakes from scratch. Once I nailed that down I was interested in making bread, which is now something I do weekly. It might be good to pick a few things you actually like to eat and start by learning how to cook those. You can start with simple things like stews, mac and cheese from scratch, a basic chocolate cake, MUFFINS (I love making muffins for breakfast), good scrambled eggs, st…

I'd have to think if these really fit the RPW values but I'm a big fan of classic movies in general. Some of my favorites are It Happened One Night, Bringing Up Baby, The Shop Around the Corner, Desk Set, The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, and Roman Holiday. For pure comedy, it's hard to beat The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Yes, I did not have a boyfriend until I was 23. I was incredibly introverted all through high school and college, very small group of friends, did not let any guys who were interested take things anywhere. Honestly, I was scared and a bit uncomfortable about it. The year after college (when I was 22) I had a job that put me very much outside of my comfort zone, doing a lot of public speaking. I think I grew a lot in that year and that helped me be more comfortable with just being myself. I then …

Double-up on tights, for sure. Two pairs...or even three. Or tights and plain black leggings under a dress.

Happy to come across this post - I know I'm not great at doing this. I think my biggest issue is not always recognizing when it's needed.
