Also, everyone shows basic decency and courtesy sometimes. It’s nothing special. Nice people are giving and kind when it’s difficult. Someone can be nice occasionally and still mostly be an asshole overall.

Yeah I’ve seen obvious manipulation to try and get sex described as niceness too many times to count.

It’s really sad that some people have no examples of nice men in relationships. What kind of environment are they living in?

It’s strange that you think that because I’m friends with lots of couples plus acquaintances and I truly do not see the “woman chasing assholes” thing in any of their relationships. The guys are all nice. I have a friend who chased an asshole for like a month, 10 years ago, probably kind of for the sake of him being an asshole. They hooked up a few times, she was miserable throughout cause she didn’t really enjoy trying to be with him, and not long after she got into a long, great relationship w…

This but unironically. Date who you want, but fucking 250 people doesn’t make a woman or a man good or bad. As long as they’re not cheating and being upfront about their intentions. Who cares honestly. People are so weird getting obsessed over this shit.

Yeah, I could just list all of my friends in happy relationships that totally defy the redpill idea of what women want, but the response would be that the women are all secretly cheating on their partners with chads or something. These RP people are so sad, but instead of trying to understand that women don't want to date men who despise women, they convince themselves that everyone is actually as miserable as they are. But we're not!

All of my friends and even acquaintances are respectful feminist men and women and this is very wrong. The women I know would never ever date someone with conservative ideas about gender, or anything else. They are aware of the existence of red pill ideology and find it disgusting. If a guy showed any support for those ideas it would be an instant block. I know this because I'm friends with them and the people they date! I would notice if anyone dated a conservative because it would be so out of…

This explains why red pill men, typically very conservative, always act like dating is the most difficult thing ever, "you've gotta be 7ft tall and worth $1billion to ever get laid, and she's still going to leave you for a bigger chad in the end," blah blah blah. They're only able to date a small pool of women who are fucked-up and self-hating enough to consider dating someone with an ideology around hating them. And yeah, maybe women with the warped values of the conservative mind actually do f…

In that situation you can talk to her and try to reach a compromise, get to understanding her needs and get her to understand your own so that you can decide on a level and schedule of cleaning that works for both of you. Or, if she really is so unreasonable that that's impossible, break up. Either one of those options would be way better than dating and living with someone you don't seem to like and have animosity towards.

Lots of men (hi) enjoy talking to their partners about things that bother them while also feeling free to say "I don't feel like talking right now, I'm watching TV" if needed without any problem. You don't have to approach romantic relationships like an angry 80s TV sitcom dad. It doesn't sound very enjoyable.

Well, that's just about what I make and I do already try to spend my money and time on the movement so I guess I'm doing alright by your standards, thanks. But yeah, you're misunderstanding entirely if you think I put myself above "the peasants." My whole worldview is based on the idea that poor people, and everyone, myself included, are no more or less holy than anyone else, but that we all deserve everything that rich people have, regardless of whether we're saints or sinners. And the idea tha…

Yeah, yeah. If I believe in a cause, I should sacrifice everything for the cause. If I do sacrifice for the cause, then I'm joyless and forgetting to live. If I'm poor, I'm a loser. If I'm not, I'm a hypocrite. It's easy to argue when you don't actually believe in anything and just use whatever sounds good at the moment.

Think of it like redirecting the flow of a river. I wouldn't advise someone who wants to redirect a river to start carrying buckets of water by themselves from the current location to where they want it to go. You can't make an impact as an individual that way. But you can make an impact as an individual by organizing people: by getting everyone affected by the river together to dig a channel (and do your part with the digging) or by organizing them to demand that the government do it.

People are so oblivious to this, it would be funny if it wasn't so sad. "It feels like something has made dating so transactional over the past several decades..." CAPITALISM "I just feel like an interchangeable list of stats, alienated from true humanity" CAPITALISM "And these dating app developers just want to make money, they don't care about creating a good dating experience" CAPITALISM

An individual "living by" communism is meaningless. If an individual gives all their money away in a capitalist system that's just... being a philanthropist in a capitalist system. ALL of the rich people must be forced to give up their property, and most essentially, political power so that working people rule. "Living by" communism would in reality mean dedicating your life to organizing towards that goal.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/21 04:38 PM

My goal isn't for upper middle class people to give away their possessions and live simply. It's for all working people, including myself, to work together to take power in order to force capitalists, the ones that own large portions of the economy, to give up their money and power. People at the bottom aren't saints. This is a movement out of self interest. Take power and improve your economic situation because you're sick of being ruled over by people who did nothing but come from a rich famil…

I really need to remember that many people who stick up for the rich have just been deluded by capitalist propaganda into opposing their own self interest. It's easier to believe pro-capitalists must be rich but the reality is far more sad. Like slaves who get a few extra privileges and then protect their owner when a rebellion happens. I have a good professional job that pays well. But you're right that I don't think I'm better than people who fail or are mediocre. My belief in socialism comes …

Hey, full communism hasn't been achieved yet but expropriating a bunch of rich fuckers has happened over and over again. And that's a fine consolation prize. From ancient Rome to the medieval era, and especially in the current time, poor people have been very easily organized to take what's theirs. Ask the former plantation owners of Cuba or the landlords in China whether anyone had trouble finding them. If you're lucky and don't resist you'll be allowed to have the same standard of life as all …

Luckily the success of redistribution does not depend on rich people agreeing to it. There are a lot more poor people in the world, and they will be making the decisions without your input :)
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/21 10:19 PM

It's pretty common for people's selfish class interests to trump other identities. Think of slaveholder women who accepted enslaved women being regularly raped by their husbands. If your economic position requires throwing other women under the bus, you will likely do it. Similarly, if you're dedicated to hoarding wealth and keeping it out of the hands of poor people, you might accept sex slavery for women in order to prevent the horrors of a fair distribution of resources.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/21 10:17 PM

I wish I could say it's surprising that an anti-communist would prefer sex slavery to poor people having power and dignity but yeah you could have just said "I'm an anti-communist" and I would have understood.

So you want legal prostitution and to break up a company that has a monopoly on an industry. These are standard political positions for left-leaning Democrats, leftists, blue-pilled men, and (feminist) women. Why are you complaining that they're against you when they (we) support everything you want? Right-wingers, on the other hand, are generally against legalized prostitution and in favor of letting monopolies exist and hate the idea of the government breaking up or sanctioning companies. And …

This is totally wrong. The difference is that people who are concerned about "dating inequality" don't even have a program that they want to implement. You can argue about the feasibility and practicality of the solutions to income inequality, but they exist. Huge amounts of redistribution from rich to poor via the tax code. Simply expropriating every dollar in excess of $10 million. Abolishing private property. Welfare. They are on a spectrum of more and less extreme, some of the less extreme o…

Agreed. Every time I see one of their super-confident "THIS is how the world and women work" things I just feel like "it's very sad that your life and relationships are so unpleasant that you think this is even remotely realistic." Like they've never had a genuine relationship with a woman, so they see the whole dating thing as a war that requires strategies and tricks and hatred towards the women/enemies they want to sleep with. In my friend circles, men and women are generally having a good ti…

I don't think all the language and strategy stuff is necessary (and I don't know what it means). If you make sure both her and you are having fun and enjoying each other's company on a date, you'll probably kiss and more if that's what you're into. I feel like all these "guidelines" will just add confusion and take you out of the moment rather than just letting you connect with someone genuinely.

As a guy, I feel like the signs are usually pretty obvious. First, whether the situation is datey - OLD, hanging out 1-on-1 when it would have been easy or expected to invite others, etc. Then, the "I'm just waiting for something to happen here ;)" kind of vibe. Looking at each other a lot, smiling, without speaking, being physically close but just barely not touching, having your faces near each other's without backing off or pulling away. I don't have these kinds of moments with my non-romanti…

You just described why women would do that if they're looking for something serious: guys who want to pump-and-dump will probably get frustrated and dump after several dates with no sex. The men remaining are likely to be interested in more than sex if they went on dates for a while without it. So if it's someone she actually wants to date waiting might make sense so she doesn't get a one night stand when she wanted a relationship.

Some preferences are more biological than others. I don't think it will be easy or instantaneous but it's really the only solution to the lookism that's hated by incels and feminists alike. But some things are clearly socially determined. Weight is one example: More weight has been an attractive feature for much of human history and it's only recently that that's changed as food became more abundant (social conditions changed). Likewise, many hetero men find a confident, independent women attrac…

As both men and women internalize the lessons of feminism and egalitarianism and the harms of patriarchy, many of the problems cited by both sides are reduced. Men realize that much of what's hardest about being men, things like suicide rates, violence, child custody, alimony, encouragement to be tough and not show emotion, these can all be improved by relinquishing gender roles, not reinforcing patriarchy. This makes life easier for men as well as women. As women become fully equal earners and …

The main thing I see as wrong in these scenarios is when people play this dating stuff as a game, treat others as disposable, and aren't sincere about the relationship. The thing that bothers me about a man "logically" finding a more attractive partner because he's become more successful is that if he's really thinking that way, he doesn't sound like someone who is capable of loving or caring for a partner. If he is thinking "ooh if I make $10 million I can trade in my 7.5 wife for a 9.5" his id…

Again, I think this has a lot to do with the relative frequency of these things. Where I live I've seen many women I don't know be harassed and threatened on the street and in social settings. Pretty much every woman I do know has stories about these kinds of things happening to them fairly regularly. I try to intervene when possible, but it's a hard ideal to live up to, and I appreciate being encouraged to do it more. On the other hand, I can't really think of examples I've seen of men being vi…

A human being is different from a biological process that will eventually grow a few cells into a human being, in my eyes. But my point is that people have different definitions about when life begins and when/if abortion would be acceptable based on a wide range of beliefs and personal philosophies. So people are only "celebrating a mother who killed her children" if they believe that abortion is murder, but still celebrate it. Which seems very rare. My values say that abortion is morally fine,…

I don't think that's true. Men aren't mistreated in public with the same frequency women are, or in the same ways. Like, if someone is threatening a man in public they're either robbing him or bullying him, and an adult man being bullied in public by a stranger is something I haven't seen much. While women are very frequently targeted by random men trying to harass them, scare them, etc. So yeah while it comes up a lot less with men, I think most men and women alike think it's a good thing to st…

While some religious fundamentalists types think abortion is "killing children" many people believe that life begins at birth rather than conception, so it's hardly different from stopping the pregnancy with an IUD or birth control pill. Personally I'm happy to applaud anyone who gets an abortion. But it's pretty unrelated to what we're talking about.

Helping women in danger, as in put yourself in harm's way to help someone, isn't that strongly expected by the public, in my experience. Same for standing up to men that make women uncomfortable. Yeah, some women make noises to that effect but I don't think many people take them seriously. I'm agreeing with you that the idea that we should stand up for other people who are being mistreated is a relatively popular one. But I think that's a good thing, not a bad thing.

It's not that he wants to date younger women to manipulate them into sex. He wants to date younger women so he can create an entire manipulative relationship. Younger women have less or no frame of reference to understand when her partner's being unreasonable, abusive, or manipulative. He sleeps with women his age out of bitterness and desire for revenge, but he also knows that they wouldn't put up with his shit long term since they know more about how the world works, so it's also to protect hi…

I don't know about all that. I'm a man who doesn't ever want kids. I get pressure from family to change my mind that I can brush off fairly easily. But I have women friends whose family and even sometimes coworkers or friends can be incredibly pushy and judgemental in a way I've never dealt with. In terms of sex, I don't think "take responsibility" or "keep it in your pants" for men who cause a pregnancy are unfair. Since I don't want children, I can take responsibility in many ways, like using …

One counterpoint to consider: responsibility for children. Men who make a baby and run off without supporting it are considered negatively, but not in a totally irredeemable way. If a woman has a baby and abandons it, she will face some of the worst judgement our society has for a person. Men are even considered to be doing a decent job, "doing the right thing," if they father a child, decide they don't want it, and pay child support while never seeing it. If a woman does this, it's generally st…

As with a lot of similar "it's ok to have a dating preference" things people get pretty indignant about I think a lot of people act like having a preference and going around talking about that preference a lot are the same thing. Pretty much nobody in the world cares if 0% or 25% or 100% of people you've dated have been fat (or short or of a particular race or trans). The guy above gave good advice, but I'd really consider how getting too into red pill ideas at a young age might be feeding into this. Thinking about social relations in terms of value and optimization can disconnect you emotionally. Thinking about a girl as a ten isn't going to make you care as much as thinking about her cute smile or weird way of laughing, or whatever unconventional, personal thing draws you to her. People will seem interchangeable to you if you think about them as numbers or …

I'm a man, 5'7, and I'm certain if I posted a photo of myself to some kind of red pill sub they'd tell me "it's over" in terms of dating. I have a steady job, but nothing that's going to wow anyone. I'm in my early 30s and I've been in long term relationships with attractive women or actively dating successfully for my whole adult life. Under capitalism, when a job is available that pays better than the other options and involves less work, only idiots will be surprised when people take that job. And only the truly foolish will think that saying "hey, that job is morally bad" is gonna stop anyone. I mean, check out this quote from Marx and Engels' Communist Manifesto from 1848. If you updated the language, it would fit with what a lot of people are still rightfully angry about. (Bourgeoisie = capitalist system) "The bourgeoisie, wherever it has got the upper hand, has put an end to all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. It has pitilessly torn asunder the motley feudal ties that bound man to his “natural superiors”, and has left remaining no other nexus between man and man than naked …

I wish Marxism was in control like you imagine! But everything you described is a result of capitalism and part of our capitalist society, even the parts that I personally would consider good, like feminism. In a socialist or Marxist system, the whole point is that capitalism is abolished, rich people don't exist, inequality doesn't exist, etc. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether you can be fired from a job for racism or whether or not you get genital piercings or whatever (I assume thi…

I'd call it basic human decency to help a stranger who's in danger if you have the ability to, regardless of gender. I'm a man, and I hope if I'm being attacked on the street, any man or woman who is able would try and help. They might be able because they're big and strong, or because they feel like they can talk the assailant out of it, whatever. If it seems to them like it's too dangerous to help, or they don't have the ability, that's their calculation to make. And I hope I'd be brave enough…

Is it news to you that something can be legal but also ethically wrong? Wanting to build an equal partnership in a relationship with someone you love is admirable, noble, and reasonable. Wanting a relationship where you manipulate and emotionally abuse your partner into doing everything you want while providing nothing of what they want is shameful and distasteful. For many people who pursue a relationship with someone much younger than them, this is "what they're truly attracted to" in the rela…

It's weird that we seem to live in such different worlds. I can't recall ever feeling like "men aren't seen as people". I think one thing that article shows is that fighting toxic masculinity can result in men who enjoy being aggressive and masculine being able to do it and women who enjoy men doing that being able to enjoy it too. Sure, plenty of women enjoy being with a physically dominant man if they know he's not going to assault her if she says no. Creating a culture where the woman isn't a…

But even as there are increasingly vocal and sometimes violent episodes of toxic masculinity recently, I think that's actually caused by the fact that we're making real progress against toxic masculinity. Lots of violent or discriminatory behavior that recently would have been considered acceptable or too private to condemn is now being exposed and condemned. There's a visible backlash, but overall I think these lessons are being internalized. In my social circles, no one is perfect and there ar…
