my experience on that: six dates, three at coffe places, three in bars. the coffee places went nowhere, the bars got me one SNL, one day-two lay and one day three. i don't meet anyone at coffee places any more. YMMV. an addendum: the girls who insisted on coffee turned out more boring than the other ones (while sober).

in germany i don't feel that way as a man. i would never not help a child for the fear of being labled a pedo. i don't think the media went as bad here but on the other hand, i am not a father, i do not know how young parents think. on busses i sometimes make faces to children (i started doing that with my small cousin a few years back; i love her to death) because laughing children are a joy. i never got a bad reaction.

it is an issue for MR, yes. and if we would be talking about a more stable country, i would agree with you that this issue should be adressed to the nation in question. i know it sounds cynical, but i think everything that does not add stability to the young afghan democraty is a none-issue. you need stability in order to have schools and educate people. educated people can get over their women issues and thus solve the problem we have right now.

another one is, that if i want a child, i can not just get one. i lean towards women folk, but i have trouble finding one that i actually like (for more than a night); i can not even start to think about a family with one of them. i see myself as a potentially single father, and i have no idea where to get a child from, without getting women (emotionally) involved.

everybody is innocent until proven guilty. that means, if you have not been caught in 19 years, you have not done anything in 19 years. or would you like to have your licence taken away every other year, just you got a DUI once? i mean you could have been a drunk driver without being caught, who knows.

but he is not 95% of the rapists, he should not suffer for their crime. i he one convicted fella. he got what the court thought was right for him and did not do anything else since. would it not be fair, if he, too, can return to a normal life after all these years that he was an outcast? after all, he has to provide for a family. his kid will always be known as "the rapist's kids" no matter what school they go to. after 19 years. they, too, have the right to have a life.

that is one sad story. though there does not seem to be a lot he can do, as long as legislation doesn't change. the incident happened when he was 21, he is now 40. so that means 19 years and no "rapes". even if he did rape someone, after 19 years being a perfect member of society, you should have a clean slate and the chance to start a new live.
