Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?I think she would be able to rent something but it wouldn't be the quality of life we have now that's for sure. And yes, I don't feel like I have been appreciated or acknowledged in this situation. I appreciate your support and validation. Keep in mind you are looking at a 'divorce' sub and one for divorced men at that...so your sample group may not be representative of the entire population. I mean you are hearing the stories from men who are divorcing so obviously it's going to be filled with … | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/22 06:49 PM

Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?Being a step parent is tricky. It's generally best if the bio parent does the majority of disciplining. Initially I was acknowledged as a person of authority in the house and the kids still listen to me. She has recently started undermining me by picking a fight with me if I tell the kids they need to do something like turn the light off. So the kids were essentially being told mom is in charge. When I brought this up she started with the whole I dont provide thing. Its rather silly and unreason… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/22 04:44 PM
"Is that your uncle?"I'm jumping in here so pardon me. It seems like you are operating under the assumption that divorce courts and custody courts are reasonable and fair. From what I have heard, this is not the case, especially when it comes to custody. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/22 12:33 AM
Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married? So you are coming from the tactic presented in that divorce movie where the attorney tells him that he is being reasonable and coming in reasonable only means you lose more? You gotta come in with some ridiculous offer and then act like you are giving what you want up in order to settle on a fair amount? Is that what happened to you? God...I don't want to go through all that. What a nightmare. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/22 12:30 AM
Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?Yeah I think it is. Everything changes when you move in together. It may seem pretty harmless prior to that because the kids maybe see you as this fun guy who comes over but once you move in it's entirely different and the whole dynamic changes. No one sees you as 'belonging'. You are an intruder. It's likely mom will see it that way and the kids will see it that way. The mom doesn't want your help no matter how much she may be open to it during the dating period. She is going to resent your int… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/22 12:28 AM
Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married? Our equity skyrocketed. I think I was informed that she might be entitled to half the equity from the move in date minus the down payment I made because she had paid towards the mortgage. I don't really care. I mean I said I would split it fairly and splitting it 50/50 isn't really fair because she didn't pay half but houses in our neighborhood are selling for like 200g's more than we bought it for so...whatever. Best investment I ever made with the worse person I could have made it with. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 10:45 PM
Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married? To be honest I didn't know what I was getting into. I thought I could kinda be a somewhat neutral but influential figure in their life. I have received nothing but resentment from everybody. My wife resents my involvement and any help I provide. She has called me a tattle tale which pretty much illustrates that she doesn't really see me as an equal; but yeah I got labelled that because she likes to tell the kids to do x, y or z "or else" but then she never follows up. So I told her she is basica… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 10:42 PM
Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?Accountability! We have had so many fights over her complete lack of accountability. Yeah , huge red flag right there. Then there is my dumb ass "Oh it will probably be fine...I think maybe she is getting better about it." Yeah FDS is so hypocritical it's funny. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 10:35 PM

Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?you know whats funny about the baby daddy? I've gotten to know him over the years and it's become abundantly clear that everything she told me about him was a lie, except for one thing. The rest was her projecting her flaws onto him. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 09:25 PM

Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?Yeah I made a grave mistake. I have been learning a lot with this one to say the least! I ignored so many warning signs over the years and acknowledging this fact has led me into a lot of self growth and personal insight. Thank you for your support! It means a lot. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 09:23 PM
Might be facing a divorce. I'm curious about what you guys think about this situation. Am I obligated to pay mortgage because I'm married?Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it. It would appear that I am entitled to my downpayment on the house and that the rest of the equity will be split between us. I'm generally okay with that. But it depends on how everything else goes. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 05:50 PM
what to do when your soon to be ex starts a propaganda war with your young kids?Parental alienation syndrome is the clinical term for this. You may find it helpful to do a google search with how to deal with it. And yeah, collect evidence to give to your lawyer. And remember the ABC's Always Be Cool (keep your cool. Be level headed. Don't get baited into being the bad guy). | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 05:33 PM
