Maybe I’m a huge uggo or I just live in a place where there’s too much competition because I basically never get approached. And I am SUPER friendly. Or maybe I just don’t notice? I don’t think I get approached ever

I like young adults and teens. Good work. I’m a crisis therapist doing hospital diversion. The kids are pretty fucked these days

Addiction counseling tends to be a bit quirkier and more lax on boundaries than other sectors of mental health treatment IME. I have drug experience and credentials. I am pretty unprofessional and it seems to help me build quick rapport—I work with teens these days. We are so off topic 😅

Yes it’s important for females to work in women’s program, especially those focused on trauma due to high prevalence of sexual trauma in women. I’ve worked in both women’s/girls programs and adolescent boys programs. The boys programs I’ve worked in were for adjudicated youth so it had less to do with some of the stuff you are referring to as they are mandated clients. I did sex offense therapy in 3 different programs as well as drug & alcohol treatment. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am fe…

My experiences in the mental health world is that male counselors are quite sought after due to the gender imbalance of qualified professionals.

I’m 5’1”. My dad was 5’11”. My husband is 6’ and honestly built a lot like my dad 😬 My last LTR was similar height and build. My high school sweetheart was 5’7”. I’ve dated guys ranging from 5’2”-6’

Portland OR is absolutely leftist and had over 100 nights of protests. Leftist in the sense that they have Medicaid expansion, just voted in universal pre-k, allow homeless to camp anywhere they want as long as it doesn’t become SO big and SO dangerous, decriminalized drugs, cops stated they are no longer pursuing minor traffic infractions, DA lets everyone out of jail, and the city is setting up ‘safe rest village’ sites for homeless to live in tiny structures on public property.

It’s because it’s relative poverty and not abject poverty. Those in poverty abreast the wealthy will be more miserable than folks in a third world country surrounded by nothing but poverty

That’s pretty pathetic and exemplifies my point. We don’t teach personal responsibility.

Good luck to them entering the work force with no work experience. Many students also work part time while going to school. Why are we having this argument? The person I’m replying to stated nothing about school.

20 is not a teenager. They shouldn’t be jobless and living at home. This is a huge problem in contemporary society. Maybe a baby would light a fire under their asses to get their shit together

I’m married and have a masters degree. My husband has an associates and makes almost $30k less than me. He has many other good qualities and supported me financially and emotionally during school. It’s not a problem for us. When we have kids, he will likely stay home

Sounds like you married a lousy woman. It says nothing about marriage and everything about your marriage in particular

They actually don’t shit talk average looking men. With regard to looks, they just want someone with good hygiene that puts effort into the way he presents himself.

As someone with an MSW, I gotta say that the MSW is a degree that opens lots of doors for different types of work and also leads directly to higher pay (within the industry) and employment options. Most social workers make shit pay but it’s not a useless degree like gender studies etc.

It’s not about being interesting, it’s about increasing attraction so that you have an opportunity to show how interesting you are.

So a baby at 42 weeks gestation is a fetus as long as it hasn’t come stateside?

Where did this stat come from? I’ve previously worked as a domestic violence & sexual assault advocate and never heard this although I have heard that 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted at some point in their life

Indeed. Grad school was what pushed me right. I work in juvenile justice. It gives me a bit of law-and-order
