What I meant was removing the advantages women have over men, where they are given preference due to things like quotas, child custody cases, etc. I wasn't really sure what the proper words are for that.

When people here say they want MRA to look good, we are defining good as being consistent with the goal. Thus, advocating for mens rights. The problem isn't with the hate it self, it's that hating feminists isn't an avocation of mens rights. Yes, there are feminists who actively oppose the rights of men. However, establishing mens rights will remove the advantages women have over us as a natural consequence. It's not necessary to separate the establishment of mens rights and the destruction fema…

I need to defend the term mens rights because I am a supporter of mens rights myself, and have experienced a lot of hardship due to the lack of equality. Since this place carries the name "mens rights," and is modestly popular, what people see here affects not just their view of the subreddit it self, but the entire movement. Most people I've come across that call this place a hate group are not feminists, and more so middle of the road type people. I've managed to change their minds in the past…

But when that dominates the subreddit, and overshadows specific men's rights issues, I can't help but think that it hurts the cause. People call this place a hate group, and I can't defend it anymore. Moreover, I'm not convinced that letting off steam is helpful if those listening are doing the same thing and fueling their anger even more. Letting off steam helps in a therapeutic setting because the other party is steering them towards understanding and a practical approach to dealing with the i…

Really? That was an opinion piece that doesn't show up anywhere on the front page of their website. I wouldn't call that amazing.

I agree that their excuse and even reasoning is ridiculous, but there still has to be a cause for them to not apply morals in situations like this. Not in the sense of something that justifies this, but more for understanding why this happens.

Just because people rush to judgement too quickly with male abusers, does not mean that doing the same to women is the solution. Rarely is anyone ever pure evil like in the movies. Usually it's good in some areas, and for some people really bad in others. This video is not sufficient evidence to make cogent inferences about her entire personality. It's interesting you bring up logic, because what people are doing here is a fallacy of composition.
/r/MensRights16/08/14 04:56 PM

Even if literal, those are not intended to be justifications, but rather possible reasons for why he would tolerate this. Where does he go on to say that this situation isn't bad because of these reasons? He doesn't, so why assume that?
/r/MensRights16/08/14 01:43 PM
-6

Hm, I didn't interpret that as being literal, but rather in a hypothetical sense. As an example of what we don't know. Again, even if that is literal, none of this implies that what she did isn't absolutely horrible.

Where is the flaw in logic here? Why would anything be different with the genders reversed?
/r/MensRights16/08/14 01:07 PM

It doesn't really seem like he's defending her to me. He's just giving an example of how one video can be very misleading in regards to the rest of the relationship. Not that any of that makes this specific situation any less shitty.

Desperation? The sex is really really good? The guy could have started out with his own issues such as major depressive disorder.

I've seen a lot of variation. In the bar setting, or any environment with a less educated crowd, what you say makes sense. However, girls that make it past the first two years of college seem more focused on finding someone that agrees with their beliefs. That and they seem far more sexually liberal and don't even care for relationships. Given that there is plenty of studies showing a strong negative correlation between education and birth rate, I would expect your typical monogamous family with…

This may sound crazy, but another alternative would be to get them to accept the idea that their is no particular need for a certain gender in an academic discipline. If no women are interested in a class, then that is okay. That doesn't mean any sex based discrimination occurred.
/r/MensRights16/08/14 02:53 AM

Well they're an interest group. So those that don't leave the group will maintain the interest, as that is the point. I wouldn't expect feminists to ever change their goals, just that the percentage of feminists drop. So I guess the question is how many Norwegians are active feminists now in comparison to a few years ago when the percentage of female graduates was lower. In an ideal world, women's interest groups and men's interest groups would influence government and institutions in a way that…

/r/MensRights14/07/14 03:19 AM

That doesn't sound like a demand for everyone.. Just that people recognize the different interests between groups, and you can't lump everyone together and expect everyone to be happy. Why don't they just make different editions of the book?
/r/MensRights14/07/14 03:16 AM

And if the reasonable feminists come up with a new name for their movement so they can distance themselves from the crazy, the crazy are just going to follow them when the new name acquires enough brand power.
/r/MensRights03/07/14 01:35 AM

But you could turn this around and find a group claiming to be part of MRA that did something hateful, and then blame the whole group. These exact same comments are made all the time in feminist circles against MRA's. Can't we just focus on the changes we need to make, rather than talk shit about people? Even if /u/Sasha_ is correct, I see little practical value in expressing it here.
/r/MensRights03/07/14 01:11 AM
1

For the same reason that we shouldn't be considered a hate group, as there are no doubt subgroups within the MRA label that could qualify as hate groups. Some groups have more trouble making subgroups than others, but you have to be careful to not suppress viewpoints that are not hateful, even if the better members happen to be a minority.

The whole gay pride thing started when we were not accepted at all. People are forgetting way too quickly just how much worse things used to be just a couple decades ago. We were not accepted, and in most places, parades or anything like that not allowed in western countries. Only a few cities allowed it. Even being recognized as a political group was a long and hard fight.

Why would all the gun rights activists support him? I strongly support gun rights, but I do not believe that the father did the right thing. For one, I don't understand why a kill shot was necessary. If he was reaching for something, why not shoot in the arm? A kill shot only makes sense if you actually see a weapon being grabbed.

With all the fancy masturbators out there now, such as Fleshlight, I find it very easy. That and I am very obsessive about my hobbies, so the time it takes find and hookup with girls just seems like a waste when I could have been doing something better. To me life is about making the world a better place in some small way. Spending all my time for the sake of physical pleasure is not intellectually satisfying at all. That doesn't really answer my question. How is it not? Won't this fucked over the lives of a bunch of women before it changes the law for everyone? And seems like an awfully big risk for something that is not even guaranteed to work. I think people will be more than happy to just continue to demonize a bunch of new women with the men, without any thought whatsoever that the law is unjust. In fact I think that supporting the application of this law against women will just send the message that th…

See I don't think social power is a universal thing, although it is probably a majority. In particular since I come from Finnish culture which is roughly based on Law of Jante, which harshly opposes social heirarchies. Thus, I am less certain that there are a large majority that consider teachers as having higher social status, since it is such a cultural thing, and we live in a multicultural nation. It seems to me if rules are going to be made based on perception of social status, then it shoul…

But that social power doesn't exist universally. Many certainly have this regard, while many others instead consider them as normal people. I mean, did the laws come to fruition as a result of studies by psychologists? Or is this a symptom of democracy, where the people most likely to vote, are the ones who view teachers as having a higher status if they are in the role of student? Is this something that you, and the majority in the subreddit agree with?

Just a quick side question, what power is there other than grading? How is "power" an advantage to hooking up with someone? I never understood how teachers really hold any power to begin with, since you can always have your grades challenged and reviewed by someone else if need be. In cases like this, I think we should be focusing on relaxing the punishments against men, rather than increasing them for women. I want equality, but not if it means applying unjust laws against more people.

I think if you're decently attractive and somewhat indifferent, in my experience with girls, and from observing friends who are similar to me, there are certain girls that are somewhat aggressive and make all the moves. Hm, I guess I just saw issues like that as more of a Men's Rights thing, rather than red pill. Isn't red pill more about the characteristics of each gender, and how they inherently interact and perceive each other? Red Pill no doubt has an explanation for feminism, but this seems more political and specific to the western world, where as I see Red Pill as focusing on something deeper that seeks to deal with humanity as a whole.

Thanks for that info. It was a legitimate question, not just rhetorical. I couldn't think of any benefits to marrying, and taxes is the only thing that came to mind. I don't even like being friends with guys like that, and none of my girl friends do either. It isn't even possible to be friends with all those guys. At least two or three guys would try and hit on me every time I simply went to the grocery store. So part of it is just the pracitcal issues of a ton of guys all acting nice, so you can't use niceness as a means of filtering them. Even if they were all truely nice, the market supply of niceness is far oversaturated, causing its value to plummet.

Basically, but I did think that many had good intentions, and were more so lying to them selves. Nice guys are awesome when you first get into the dating market, but it gets old real fast when every guy is saying the same shit. It loses its meaning after awhile. I do not beleive that girls are into assholes, just guys that will tell the truth, even if that truth is ugly and is hard for us to accept at first. If you act like a dick all the time, I really doubt that you would have much success.

Do you happen to know of a study that shows that a fully developed brain is required for consent though, as opposed to learning from experience? Minors, people under 18, are actually not allowed to consent to any contract legally either. If they do, the contract is voidable at their option whenever they choose. This is actually fairly normal for the way the law treats the consent of minors. Sex isn't a contract though? I don't see how consent equates to legal contract, when you consider that a 10 year old can volunteer for a job delivering papers. What about in family court, why do judges often let teenagers choose which parent they want…

Can you cite this? I don't disagree, I just wasn't aware that neuroscientists took any stance on the matter.

No, but if there is a problem in the marriage, staying together for the kids isn't going to fix it, and pretending to get along will create worse problems. I'm saying divorce is a lesser evil.

Why is it better for the kids? As someone who grew up with parents that hated each other but stayed just for me, it really messed me up.

Here I thought being an atheist would guarantee I go to hell, but I guess I won't have to worry bout that if I am already banned by Satan.

I just meant that it's not just feminists. I agree with everything you said, I was just adding this point. I often see similar comments in other subreddits, and have always been annoyed by how many people take it as a joke. Its refreshing to see support here.

Say that in almost any other subreddit and you'll be laughed at. Its not just feminists.

Of course, but if law enforcement and those who control it were to gradually become composed of Mexicans, then the differences would fade.

Your not factoring in law enforcement presence, which is not controlled by Mexicans.

I have never seen slittyness celebrated. It is almost always hated, especially by other girls. What backwards world does this guy live in?

How does anyone take them seriously? That seems like something I would expect to read in The Onion.

To be fair, the quality of $300 daycare versus one on one attention is quite different. Otherwise I agree with your overall sentiment.

Do reddits algorithms start messing with the numbers at only 6 votes though? My guess is it is people browsing /new who are not familiar with this subreddit.

The fact that hormones affect behavior makes it much more controvercial. This fact needs to be acknowledged so that we have an answer for those who beleive that men and women should be treated differently due to behavioral differences.
/r/MensRights29/09/13 12:23 AM

I would guess it would be easy to say that male to female on female hormones qualify for female standards, because the hormones make them weaker, while female to male on testostrone treatments as male because the testostrone increases their strength. However, there are gender queer people who go through treatments to be gender neutral, where estrogen and testostrone is balanced out. That would be tricky one...

Yea but our environment is always changing, so it's not just about us messing things up, it's also about us progressing towards the new equilibrium that was shifted due to externalities.

So are you confident then that if you showed your daughter what you wrote about her, that she would not interpret it as being judged?
/r/TheRedPill25/08/13 06:17 PM
1

Then what the heck do you call judgement? What is the distinction? A statement is saying she slept with 20 guys. Saying that makes her a slut, which carries the connotation of being morally wrong, is a judgement of the action of having sex with 20 people.
/r/TheRedPill21/08/13 04:20 PM

The way I have always interpreted the not judging thing, was to not quilify actions as good or bad(aka judging right from wrong). Therefore using words with negative connotations to describe an observation would imply judgement. Ie, "slut" would imply that having sex with many partners is wrong. Therefore it is a judgement of that action, in addition to describing an observation. I'm not saying my definition of judgement is right, it's just that the way you're defining it is new to me, so I'm cu…

they can talk to me about anything without being judged Awesome Materialistic, enormous sense of entitlement, requires drama in her daily life, and to say my youngest is a promiscuous slut is a vast understatement Umm...I guess we have different opinions on what being judged means.

You toss around the term whore as if sleeping around is a bad thing. Secondly, quality is subjective.

Is there a link somwhere where I can read more about it? I've always wondered what the backstory was. EDIT: Sorry, I'm a dumbass. Missed the link posted by the OP. So I guess it's just some random redditors word eh.

How do you know that he is mentally challenged? I've seen this video many times, and never before have I heard that there was anything unusual about the guy.

I didn't assume anything. I was just asking a question because I don't have an opinion one way or the other.

I understand that that is the intent, but is that the message that's being interpreted by the majority? Is their message having the desired effect? EDIT: I think people are misinterpreting what I'm saying here. I have no opinion at all in this. I'm just asking a genuine question here, as I don't watch TV and don't know much about the DOVE campaign. And sometimes people try to do something good, but end up causing something different to happen that wasn't intended.

Yea, as someone that has been raped, the only thing on my mind during the whole ordeal was if he was going to let me go alive after, and being do damn glad to be let go in one peice when he did.

I am talking about the real world here though, not what the law says.
/r/MensRights31/07/13 08:36 PM

My point though was that we should change the law. And as a strong believer in jury nullification, I think there needs to be a point where people stand up against unjust laws. Just because men have been treated unfairly due to these laws, doesn't mean we should suddenly support these fucked up laws just for the sake of revenge when a woman is faced with the same thing.

Not legally, but realistically, yes they can consent at 16...16 year old are not children, despite what fucked up laws would have you believe.

/r/MensRights13/07/13 04:05 AM

Why? Is it because of the hate? If so, would you want to apply these same laws to the millions of Americans who openly and loudly proclaim intent to torture pedophiles?

I've had some experiences like this too. One of them actually admitted to me that she simply just hates men. She was raised by a single mother that constantly complained about how evil men are, and was sent to all girls schools. So she didn't even get much of a chance to learn for herself that her mother was wrong.

But that just means the laws are fucked, and innocent fun like this shouldn't be a crime even if the genders are reversed.
