Nah, I good a really good vibe. Real big smile, twinkly eyes and gave a very truthful impression. I've done enough approaches to see what "I'm not enjoying this" looks like and this was something entirely different. However, no point in discussing this.. simply must go for the digits next time then.

You know, that actually popped into my mind, but honestly I was content with leaving it like this. Although the possibility intrigues me now... Also, it has put some fuel in my "confidence"-tank, which I think will make future approaches a bit easier again.

Introduce myself.. Probably asked her if she was from around, where she was going.. find something to create some banter about. Maybe ask her what she was listening too. Then switch to more direct game and tell her she looks very sexy, and I especially likes what she did with her hair.. Eventually I'd try to number-close of course.

Oh, damn, I typed that out wrong. While I'm absolutely not against 22 and up, I'm actually aiming for 20-21... True about the opener though I guess (see my comment to Only1nDreams). Thanks for the alternative questions. I should know those already! However I was in a relationship for a while and my game is a bit rusty now...

Yeah, I should remember that.. although it's a difficult topic to start out with. Maybe I should just try out "How old are you?" as an opener in such cases and see where it ends up.

Don't think too much about it when she says those things. Just think that whatever she said was a joke or a lie and act accordingly (either ignore or laugh it off or reflect it somehow back to her, also jokingly). You must act (and better yet, feel) secure with yourself. Interestingly, some of the things she might say can be useful to "upgrade" your style. You can't help not being as tall as your brother, or having a certain shape of lips, but manly might very well mean that you could deepen you…

Well, you should give it another go. However it will be likely to be perceived as weird because you came back. I would suggest to always just go for it at the first attempt. I think in your place I'd probably have continued with some smalltalk and then have told her after a while: "So, now that you've got my number, how do I get yours?" or ask her to call to test your phone or something similar (while making it obvious that you just want to take her out).

True. I should do more regular daygame. Regarding the hairdresser, yeah, she's paid to be friendly, however she seemed to actually enjoy the conversation as much as I do (including the flirtation), and was very open about things I didn't even ask for. Then again, they're usually naturally born talkers so...

Things I've often used are "What's superpower would you like to have?" or "What kind of animal would you be?" and ask them why. From her answers you'll be able to start a whole new conversation.

"There's no step between noticing a cute girl and talking to her." -- I think that's how it should be. I myself always seem to get stuck on finding out if the girl has a boyfriend nearby (to avoid confrontations) before I make a move. Almost impossible to find out in a short time though, which results in delays in my approach. Any experience with this?

I think so too. In fact in my experience most girls do this at some point (even among friends). Not sure if they're fishing or actually have low self-esteem. Nevertheless I think your approach is ideal either way.
