Oh, she did way more than just have it cancelled. The FYC game jam is actually still alive and well. She let it live on, but literally no one will cover it. She doxxed the creator and had her contacts at gaming publications basically blacklist him from being talked to. He attempted to get in touch repeatedly to figure out what was up, and they almost always said, "Well you should buy into her game jam instead." The whole thing is rife with controversy the more you dig. It's outrageous.

But again, the same could be said about them calling in entirely. The company still pays them sick leave, and you -- as a coworker -- are then more inconvenienced by their complete absence. Even if they're having a bad cycle, with the cramps and faintness etc., and they put even just 25% effort into their work that day, it's better than the 0% that they'd still be getting paid for to call in.
