Hey! I just found this sub and I’m really wanting to learn more, since I’ve always labeled myself a feminist and have secretly [verbally to those willing to listen] despised how men are treated, especially in leftist spaces who claim to be so progressive. Any book/academic readings you could recommend? I’m asking since you said you’re an academic so I wanted to directly ask while I continue to search this subreddit for resources (and simply to read the theory and reality)

A hormone for confidence and aggression 😭😭😭 this is the best (maybe accidental) satire I’ve seen

“Men are the ones with testosterone” well…. That is simply not true. You need to be educated on hormones more before commenting about estrogen and testosterone [the basic educating I’ll do is that the average healthy person has both estrogen and testosterone apart of their hormones, regardless of sexual reproductive organs.]

You do it while it’s awkward. Maybe one day it won’t be awkward approaching people. Maybe it’ll always be awkward. Some people don’t mind awkward and those that mind will mind you for other reasons and probably aren’t giving you the proper chance you deserve as an individual. My best advice is to just keep trying.

“There are a lot of issues bigger than..” you have made it a competition. Talk about one and/or the other but you cannot compare which issue is bigger while ignore the factor of individuals caring about their own issues first because, yeah no shit people will have more care if it’s in their front yard as opposed to someone you are not physically witnessing.

Yep. Lately I’ve been calling it “the ego”

Doesn’t this then circle back to “men not having room to express their emotions” which is pushed by, I guess society? I agree that saying “the patriarchy” makes it sound like an issue within men when it’s an issue within individuals only caring about their self interest. I have a theory here that because men have been the ones in those positions of power, it’s easier for women to have sympathy because you cannot imagine yourself as a man in that place of power while growing up, whereas a boy can…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
