When I feel down, what I need is probably just to talk with a friend. Or even just socialize with strangers, meeting new people. But it's most effective when combined with the gym. Yes, there is a double standard. That being said, I don't see anything wrong with women wanting a guy who's taller than them. It's just how things are. Can't blame them for their preferences. I feel a bit awkward saying this as a tall man though - I understand it's easy for me to say. And it's totally fine for men to prefer thin women. We just gotta work with reality.

Great news: It's totally fine that you can't relate to most men in your environment. It means nothing about you. All it means is you should probably go out of your way to meet a more diverse range of people. Do you live in a big enough city to find meetups, events, and other ways to meet new people?
