Thank you, finally someone speaking some actual sense. Why are we even considering defending this behavior? No one is saying there aren't any parallels, but since when has retaliation ever been a proper way to make progress? "Ohhhh well WAHMEN do XYZ so that makes this justified", like no dude, that doesn't make this justified, that makes it equally bad. Two wrongs not making a right is a pretty basic concept. Embarrassing.

Because for starters, they didn't give an opinion. They answered a question. Secondly, this wasn't a debate post, it was a question for men. Thirdly, you should always be polite until given a reason otherwise; it's common human decency. I don't want to talk to you anymore. It is clear you are not a good person.

When we don’t assume men want sex, we get accused of manipulation, ignorance and leading men on There's a difference between assuming and treating someone as if it's already 100% guaranteed that they want sex. You can assume things and still treat people fairly. Most men get treated with polite indifference Do you think you treated Aafan with polite indifference?

Lots of men do want sex only, and show us. So therefore the ONLY thing you can possibly do is baselessly and repeatedly assume every single man you interact with is this way because...? To make matters worse, even when you have been given every single possible indicator that you are WRONG in your assumption (with regards to Aafan and this conversation), the only thing you can do is double / triple down because...? And finally when you are confronted with this, your response to being called out i…

She also (seemingly) contradicted herself. She is clearly trying to imply that all men want is sex, yet she also stated that all men she dated approached her platonically. These things are mutually exclusive and cannot exist at the same time, thus the contradiction. If I were you, I'd just stop responding to this person. I am not sure if it is worth it to continue talking to her as she is only trying to get you to slip up and say something that would push her already fragile narrative. Instead, …

Hey, sorry to jump in here. It seems like you're trying to imply that men only want women for sex, when, by reading Aafan's responses, I really do not see where you're drawing that conclusion from in this instance. I think Aafan is being pretty clear with his intentions here. I am not attractive, so I don't approach I believe what Aafan is saying here is a mixture of "I don't find myself attractive, therefore I will spare women from dealing with me" as well as "I don't like my odds anyway, so I …

Are you in the trans spectrum? More specifically, were you born a female and are transitioning into being a male, hence the "FTM" subreddit?

Your comment implied you're a cis-dude. I'm going off the assumption that you are. A FTM subreddit is meant for FTM transitioners.

YOU said those things. He did not. You are adding meaning where he did not add any. I am not saying you are wrong, either - MAYBE that's what he meant. But also maybe we should give people the benefit of the doubt when otherwise it did not seem as though his intentions were leaning in that direction. For instance, this was a direct comparison between his view on superficial standards, right? It would only make sense that if he was listing his own standards, he was listing them to further his own…

Not to defend this guy, because in my opinion you're mostly right - however I would say MOST of his qualities are not as superficial as "tall" and "hot". I'm looking for someone intelligent, passionate about a topic they love, compassionate, in shape, and somewhat cute. These aren't super unreasonable. Almost everyone is "somewhat cute", and there are ways to make yourself cuter. Being in shape is also a choice for the vast majority of people. Being compassionate should be a standard EVERYONE ha…

Not to argue Star Trek, but just because Picard was in the captain's chair when giving that advice does not mean he always was. Don't assume people in more ideal situations have not experienced the unideal. I know this isn't what you were trying to say, but for those who may have taken the wrong message from that...

Jesus CHRIST I had to scroll this far down here to actually read an opinion about this from a woman lmao Like a needle in a haystack. Thank you for contributing.

I don't know if men are welcome to post here, and I apologize if I am intruding, but I feel as though I have to say something about this. Even if men were """wired""" in a way that makes it more difficult for us to remain faithful (which I will put my foot down and proclaim with all my confidence that that notion is absolute fucking horse shit), that ignores the fact that all human beings have the ability to defy their """wiring""" whenever they please. If ANYONE makes a commitment to another pe…
