I had a thought about wrongful conviction but I erased it in my comment. I wanted to say, many victims of wrongful conviction only get their case looked after release. So we're gonna be castrating potentially free men? The bill did say only certain and specific charges related to child abuse so they have that going in their defense. Another fact: the sponsor of this bill (Steve Hurst) did originally advocate for surgical castration, which as you may imagine is not reversible. Just wtf.

While I understand the means of protecting children do we really have to force castration ? Surely there are other methods of security and rehabilitation that don't require involuntary injections. Even though there is proof the treatment is reversible upon completion. The payments of this treatment are court mandated, so prisoners will be paying for it. Shouldn't it be their choice what type of rehabilitation they undergo? They're paying for it after all. The people dealing with these consequenc…
