| 37 | If you are ever accused of a crime, like domestic violence, do NOT EVER say anything. Immediately request a lawyer. I was falsely accused of it, and I won in court. Had I talked to the police (despite never hitting anyone, ever), I would have been charged and convicted of something I didn’t do.This is a hard thing to speak to in absolutes because every place is different. I thought I should add my experience for perspective. Where I live, if you get arrested for DV, you are automatically held overnight and the accuser can get an easy 30 day restraining order.
