My feet roll inwards; they have very flat arches. The article on Wikipedia said that over-pronation was the leading cause. My ankles roll inwards so badly that I often walk bare-foot on the sides of my feet, so that my achilles tendon is kept straight and my centre of gravity actually stays over my heels. I can put my legs straight and point the soles of my feet so that they face each other. If I walk too far without supports, my left ankle particularly is always hurting badly the next day. I do…

I'm not the person who downvoted you, but... men need to solve things, not to have the woman solve it for them. He's probably talking through his mistakes so he can be better next time. It's OK just to let him talk. My SO does this all the time, and after a few days of this he reached out, took my hand and said, "Thank you. I appreciate you listening." Then he took me to dinner, spoiled me rotten, went back to work the next day and solved the problem. The only thing I did was to remind him that …

Your words are giving away more than you know. I'm going to translate the stuff that I can see between the lines. It's going to be harsh; your perspective also has some validity, so this is just the other perspective - please take it as constructive intent! Suggestions at the end. The argument was over something EXTREMELY stupid. We were with two of our friends and we are both at fault for starting the argument in the first place. "This argument should never have happened, but it wasn't my fault…

Playing up more feminine behaviour. Wearing dresses, making sure the house is welcoming, always putting on make-up when we go out, doing the shopping. He does help with the house, but I do most of it, and that's OK. It turns out that I enjoy having a home that I feel like I made more than worrying about whether we're each doing our fair share of tasks. I also let him make more decisions. I have a better taste for wine than he does so I'd often order the wine at restaurants, but I realised I was …

Don't think of it as being treated like a child. Think of it as being subject to a ton of biases. The women that the Red Pill guys are talking about are largely unaware of those biases (or in the case of extreme feminists, actively pretending that they can completely overcome those biases). The idea that you can overcome bias is, itself, a bias. So; we're subject to biases, and so are they. The whole Red Pill movement is about understanding those biases and how they contribute to happiness and p…

The running shoes I got came from "Runner's Need", in London. They put me on a treadmill and photographed them with my insoles in properly; the whole shebang. I'll check them when I get back (out visiting my mum for her birthday!) but I don't think they're particularly worn. However, it does make me think that I should be wearing better shoes when I'm walking. I've been wearing flats, which make me roll horribly. I get the feeling that the shin splints might actually be caused by the ridiculous …

Thanks, I'm incredibly grateful! I'm so pronate that in bare feet I pretty much walk on the sides of them... I have special injection-moulded insoles and everything, so the shoes are good. I will do this and see if it helps!

I run. That's pretty much all I do. I run outside rather than on a treadmill. I live in London, so I go up through one of the parks, around a lovely reservoir and back down again; 5k total, pretty much every other day. I like it because of the nature I get to see - lots of waterfowl, grey herons, tons of smaller birds. I even do it in winter. In the rain. On the days between, I walk. Usually manage to get my 10,000 steps in on those days. If the place I need to get to is an hour or so away I'll …

Without sex and intimacy it's not a relationship; it's a friendship. So let's say you meet someone special, or that this guy turns out to be the one you want. If your man is sticking around despite the lack of sex, and does this for months, you're more likely to end up with a dear friend that you find hard to be attracted to than a partner for life. Maybe you're OK with having a friend and less sex. This probably isn't the right sub for you, if that's the case; we're into developing and maintain…

I don't think RP men want lots of sex with as many girls as possible. They just want sex, good sex, regularly. It's just that it's very hard to find one woman who will give that to them without putting them at risk (see their stance on being tricked into making her pregnant, committing via marriage and getting divorced, etc.) Rather than risk that commitment, they go for multiple women instead; "plates" in their terminology. And they would never, ever consider making a sexually experienced woman…

My boyfriend has been resisting all my gentle urges to get more exercise, go down the gym, etc. I finally got fed up (plus I know that nagging doesn't help, thanks ladies) and started getting fitter myself. Running, losing weight, talking about how much I'm enjoying it, eating more healthily, etc. Ordinarily, I'll ask if we can walk back from the shops or something and he'll make some excuses and take the bus instead. Today he said, "Sure," and I was able to show him the lovely little path by th…

My man's been away 4 nights. Tonight will be the 5th. We moved into this place for the first time in March - first time we've lived together - and though I've been away for work, this is the first time he's been out with me here on my own. It's a really creaky house. I have no advice, except to let you know that I'm nervous too, and I'm 40 years old and not as RP as all that; I'm pretty independent (40 and moving in with my boyfriend should tell you as much; thank God I found this sub when I did…

I think this gets to the whole heart of RPW in some ways. We've been taught for so long that we're equal to men, that we should be independent, that when we're faced with another choice instead we feel guilty about it. You are both better off. It isn't a zero-sum game. The only reason this would ever become an issue anyway is if you were to leave him, having taken advantage of his support. And if you're thinking of doing that, and feeling guilty because you want to have that choice (and he's giv…

"A study by the CDC found that in 12 months prior to administering the survey, 1,270,000 females were raped and 1,267,000 males were 'made to penetrate'. Approximately 1 in 21 men were 'made to penetrate' another person during their lifetime, and about 80% of them reported a female perpetrator" Use the weighted percentages rather than the numbers. They show sexual violence as slightly more prevalent for women, but still in the same ballpark as men. You're less likely to get called out on inaccur…

If you were on your own, what would you be doing with the money? You're almost certainly both saving money by being together, even if he's paying for more of the bills. He's also got someone looking after the house and making his life comfortable. Don't feel guilty unless your extravagance isn't what you'd normally indulge in without him around. He likes being able to look after you. Shut up and be grateful. Or, better, talk about how grateful you are - and show him! - and make sure he knows you…

It sounds like his ex was a family friend, and the family have continued being friends with her. Their relationship with the ex has nothing to do with your relationship with your SO, so let it go. If your SO was hanging out with her then it would be a different story, but he isn't; don't worry about it. It sounds as if you might want to do something to boost your own self-esteem though. Keep his focus where you want it by being awesome.

Last time someone sexually assaulted me I did escalate; I think it's different when it's sexual. It was a bit different, though; I was in a nightclub with all my friends around me, so making a scene in that case was the right thing to do to be safe (and it ended up with me chasing him out of the club at a run!) Glad you were OK in the end.
/r/RedPillWomen13/06/15 09:14 AM

Definitely agree with having some kind of self-defence mechanism. When my man said he'd have escalated, I asked him if he'd done martial arts training and he said, "When I was a child." I did a bit of tae-kwon-doe as an adult, and knowing I could defend myself was part of the reason I could stay calm, regardless of which path I chose.

My man says it's how he would have responded. Whether it's an innately masculine response or not, I think men are more likely to do that because it's expected of them to be "hard" and not back down. But; you're an RP guy, right? What would you have done?

Being emotional isn't a flaw; it's imposing them on other people that causes the problems. As long as you can handle your emotions yourself, it won't be an issue. I find treating them with curiosity is helpful. "Wow, that made me feel unhappy. Fascinating. I wonder why?" That can also help you to develop self-awareness about the triggers and where they come from, which can help you to gain control. Having said that, +1 to the red flags. Being 19, attending a good university, never-kissed, with a decent body and all makes me a unicorn? Being 19, attending a good university, never-kissed, with a decent body, self-aware to the point of not suffering any of the biases induced by innate human biology, while still being attracted to your man despite not having any of the biases that actually cause those feelings, would make you a unicorn. Hence; they don't exist.

Alpha guys are hot. Anything which helps them stay that way is good by me. The reason /r/theredpill gets bad press is because there are a lot of guys there who've been badly burned, and some of them are going through a phase of hating women. If a woman on a support forum started talking about bad experiences with men and some guy chimed in and said, "Not all men!" then he would rightly be reminded that it was a support group for women, that the man was distracting from the point of the topic, an…

FLEA-ridden mum from a narcissistic gran. Being firm with her and holding frame in the face of her occasional martyristic tantrums has really helped her, and helped our relationship; even though I'm her daughter she seems to thrive with a bit of guidance. She isn't a narcissist at all; she just picked up some bad habits. So did my sister! I wish my dad had helped her better. They're separated now; have been for years. Have a read of some of the things the women have written in this sub about poise. It's the female equivalent of frame. Flirting should, ideally, be a natural facet of your poise, not something you turn on or off. That you're capable of being off-puttingly blunt tells me you might need a bit more practice at that. There are ways of being gently honest that aren't off-putting (and if you're doing it to put off men you're not interested in, try a firm but gentle "Thank you, I'm not interested," and…

Do you have any advice on what I can do/what I can read to stop thinking of men as entirely shallow? Yes: I am witty and I have the art of flirting down to an exact science. Stop doing this and just enjoy it. It's not meant to be an exact science. It's meant to be fun. You've almost certainly internalized the behaviours you need already; you don't need to be thinking about them consciously all the time. You've described yourself elsewhere as a bit asperger-y. This worry about your future could be contributing to your depression. Yes, the future is uncertain. It always will be. That's OK. Learn to work with that. The other thing I noticed is that you waited 3 years for one guy. Don't put men on a pedestal like that. If you're an I and end up with an E, make sure that either you have plenty of time to yourself (housewife would probably work) or that he has plenty of places to go for interaction (his job is not a solo desk job for instance). My ex and I drove each other up the wall. I work with people and come home wanting solitude to recharge. He worked alone and came home wanting to talk and interact incessantly. Not a good mix!

People admire charismatic individuals; the "accidental alphas" of the world who are dominant, strong, have high status, etc. Those individuals can manipulate the world around them unconsciously, and nobody minds. As soon as you start learning those tricks, though, it becomes conscious manipulation. People don't like the idea that they're being consciously manipulated. Bizarrely they're usually completely fine with worshipping charisma when it comes naturally. The fact is that if you do the consc…

It doesn't even matter whose fault it was, who bears the blame, etc. What matters is the impact of actions, not the reasons. If you bear this grudge, what will it get for you? What will it do for you that's useful? You don't have a time machine. If you did, it might be useful to obsess over those wasted 20 years, go back and do them all again. Without a time machine, you're just wasting the next 20 years too. Learn from the first set, focus on what's working, not on what didn't work, forgive her…

There are a bunch of women out there (myself included) who revel in freedom, independence and standing on our own two feet. For some of those women, any reversion back to cultural stereotypes seems threatening. They also reckon that the only reason those stereotypes exist is because of our cultural upbringing, so they must obviously be "wrong". I think there's probably a bell-curve. Woman here. It works because having a boyfriend who's attractive enough to pull other women, and confident enough not to be all clingy and possessive over the one(s) he's got already, is damned hot. From what I can tell, Game isn't really about manipulating women. It's about being a confident, assertive, non-clingy, non-jealous and therefore very sexy man, and letting that manipulate your woman. I'm okay with that.

Yep. Also get one which cinches at the waist, in the middle of the corset; you can tighten the top and bottom separately. You'll relax into it so you'll need to re-tighten about 1/2 hour and about 1 hour after you put it on. Don't be afraid if it's a little bit tight to start as the lacing settles and you'll be fine. New to this and to the RP thing, so please do share opinions on what I'm writing; trying to learn... and I may not be stereotypical, also curious about that. I (now 39f) spent 9 years with a guy who was like OP's friend's. He did have a degree, but he ran his own business, didn't earn a fortune doing it, and he was a massive hoarder. I was at Uni in 1993; I guess that's when I heard the myth. I really have met that kind of proportion of friends at uni and school who were raped - but perhaps I'm just a magnet for people in distress. I couldn't care less about the 1-in-4 stat, except to show that there are also stats which show a very different bias. If I knew what the accurate figure was I'd post that. Sorry that I came across as defensive. I'm more curious than anything else, honest.
/r/MensRights16/12/10 04:35 PM

I don't completely believe it either, that's why I restricted myself to saying "the stats floating around were..." I showed further down that even with the data given with the links mean0dean0 has supplied, his stats aren't accurate either. I suspect it's more likely to be one in 10, and I just happened to be a good listener who got to hear all the cases; that would explain why I met one in 4. Just trying to chase down a figure that's more accurate than "struck by lightning".
/r/MensRights16/12/10 04:33 PM

Of the two links made in mean0dean0's statement, one shows that the odds of being struck by lightning in the US are 1/500,000 in 2008 (estimated rather than reported, so being generous). The odds in the Wikipedia article of being raped in the same year are 29.3 per 100,000 (reported rather than estimated, so being mean), or 146.5 per 500,000. It is therefore far more likely that you'll be raped and report it than hit by lightning, before we even start looking at the relevant gender populations o…

Thank you for showing me that; it's useful to know. A lot of the cases I'm talking about were repeated over years, or one-offs, and never made it to court. AFAIK none of the girls / women I knew made any public accusations. Most rape victims unfortunately never even go to the police. Of course, this only makes the false rape accusations stand out even more in proportion, which doesn't help anyone. I get that sometimes false identification can happen, and I'm glad the FBI is able to eliminate the…

Didn't imagine I was right, just saying that your "struck by lightning" is orders of magnitude out. The stats aren't just from uni, and I have no idea whether they're true or not. What I know is that about one in four of my female friends told me - independently - that they were raped. I've been out of Uni for 15 years, and the friends I mention were from junior school up until Uni - meaning most of them were under 18 when they were raped (this is in the UK). Most of them were abuse from family …
/r/MensRights15/12/10 03:10 AM

Um, not sure about your statistics. Back when I was at Uni, the stats floating around were that one in four women had been raped. That certainly matched the late-night confessions and tears of a lot of my friends. Most of them didn't press charges because they knew they wouldn't get a conviction. Now, convictions for rape as likely as being struck by lightning? That I believe. Justice for men in rape-accusation situations as likely as being struck by lightning? That, I also believe. You know wha…

No. I think she did that because she's genuinely pissed off that other women can't get this kind of justice when it's clear-cut, and yet every ambiguous case in the US / UK media seems to hit the headlines. Many women I've met who denounce porn seem to be annoyed that it causes men to hold them up to a standard they can't meet. I've since realised it's only women ourselves who hold us up to that standard. All the men I've met seem perfectly happy with less than perfect; they just also like porn.
/r/MensRights01/08/10 08:34 AM

I guess there's a number of people out there who believe that men can't be raped, or should be grateful - in the same way that there are people who believe women deserve it if they dress provocatively. They may not be trolls, just idiots in need of some serious education. If this site doesn't give that to them, then who does?

I only tagged on "for unprofessional reasons" later, once I'd worked it out. Still don't think they were evil. They were just lads, in a self-reinforcing culture which probably encouraged them to behave their way as much as it encouraged me in mine. I'd love to know how it started in the first place, but I suspect it happened when we left the oceans.

Think of it as a mitigation, rather than an all-out "not guilty". I wasn't in a position of authority, so the only thing I can really take responsibility for is for playing into a system that was already there. I admit to being young, short-sighted and irresponsible. Trying to take responsibility now, with the hindsight of experience, seems a bit pointless. I guess I'm just saying, I get it, and if I see any other women doing the same thing that I used to do, I know to help them find a better wa…

I used to be one of these women. Sorry about that. I didn't sleep with the boss, but I was an outrageous flirt. In my defence, the guys at the company encouraged it. I was straight out of university, and quite cute at the time. A lot of women got made redundant in my last year there. They were the ones who weren't young, blonde and pretty. No other company I've worked in had quite such a laddish culture, thank goodness, and most men are very much more respectful and challenging. I've now got a w…

I get that there's a difference in the way that men and women are treated in response to sexual abuse, but this doesn't look like a good example of that. It is, however, another amazing example of the way that different countries treat young perpetrators of abuse. I'm with Norway.

Yes, except it seems to work on us Brits too.

I'd argue that the oppression of women in the cultures which practice FGM is more serious, and this is why women get riled up about it. Thing is, neonatal circumcision happens in our own cultures. It may be less serious (on a serious scale of "very"), but it's far more easily fixed. See my comments above for avoiding the comparison altogether.

No, I lump one aspect of the cultural oppression of women in some societies in which the oppression is generally horrific in the catch-all term FGM. Bear with me, here. When you start comparing circumcision to FGM, you invite comparison of all the other aspects of FGM. Since the majority of people - especially the ones you're trying to convince - see men as empowered and not oppressed at all, the argument is unconvincing, and therefore not useful. Instead, convince them that neonatal circumcisio…

Rather than playing into that pattern, try, "We're in agreement that <XYZ female problem> is wrong. I'd like to talk about <XYZ male problem>, because right now <%, number or severity of cases>, and far less media attention." Have the stats to back it up handy.

Absolutely. That doesn't make Cresur's assertion that most of the "benefits" listed are actually for women. true. I would like people involved in debates like this to be as credible as possible.

Every paragraph that mentions the benefits to women is also balanced by similar benefits to men. I think your bias is giving you a skewed view. I'm letting you know this because I would like your arguments to be effective - I care about this issue - and a less biased, logical argument will be more effective than the one you're making here. Please reread the article and tell me if you still disagree.

Your comment's been published now, anyway; it appears third in the thread. I'm a woman, and have recently had my eyes opened regarding circumcision. Please don't make it into a war of gender - some people have different opinions, and there are men and women on both sides of this argument. Comments like "the author is a woman. Double standards hurt" make me want to react defensively, and I'd much rather spend my energies fighting against a practice that's wrong than fighting against men. I don't …

Depends on how hard the slap is. I'd leave a guy for doing it, but jail seems... well, excessive. It's a different story if it bruises or draws blood.

I'm a woman. I was in an emotionally abusive relationship for seven years. I walked away. The only thing that could possibly stop a woman from walking away is her own mental issues* (which stopped me for those first seven years). I don't believe that my partner should have been jailed for my lack of will. As it is, after I left him he took a good, long look at himself, dumped his stressy career, learnt psychology, and now works as a hypnotherapist. I still cry sometimes when I think back on thos…

I give it two years before someone uses "psychological abuse" in the self-defence plea at the murder trial.
