Seriously (6'3 here), people inflate just how important height is ALONE in determining one's value on the smp/rmp/whatever.

Conflict has been a part of humanity since it's inception. We were waging battles amongst ourselves since we were wearing loincloths and wielding sticks. I think you give a bit too much credit to those in power for being responsible for something that is a part of our nature.

Not only that, but most people see a therapist for one hour per week. These platitudes don't address how one should functionally go about their business for the other 167 hours each week.

Yup, what a disingenuous, far-fetched statement to make claiming that guys usually only have one option. Often times they have absolutely zero options available.

Nice mental gymnastics. I never said anything of that sort about the definition of despising someone, but I guess reaching is all you're able to do when you've got no counter. But sure, keep putting words in my mouth about that and what a therapist is. Be angry that men can hire people or form friendships that fill the few things you seem to think men expect from women.

Oh please. Men can pay for a therapist and a maid, and come out ahead instead of the costs of marriage if that was all men wanted. At least with my therapist, I know what I confide with won't get used against me in a future fight. According to the women here, I'm failing to see what they even have to bring to the table when they clearly despise male companionship, aren't interested in equitable emotional intimacy, and demonize male sexuality. It's apparent the more glaring issue worth discussing…

He means that men who aren't slaving themselves for a society that doesn't value them are losers. All of this "enjoy the decline" stuff is a natural response to high-risk low reward lifestyle presented to men. Many men have endured far worse then being called "losers", I think they'll keep trucking just fine.

Do a your due diligence into the local groups. Many beer leagues actually play just for fun and look down on those who are talented and play at a competitive level. Usually the teams have a listing online that tells you the level of seriousness and skill required, but I'm sure you can always call too.

I don't disagree with the solution you're proposing. It's not even so much that we can't agree on what the problems are, but addressing the root cause seems to be a chicken and egg conundrum. Disconnecting from social media seems to be the scorched earth approach, yet best outcome. An idealist might say that socal media without filters, Photoshop, and other shenanigans might be serviceable. Although I do have to object to your claim that most women don't inflate their appearance in some way, sha…

Make-up, filters, and angles aren't something that is exclusive to above average women, and it's disingenuous to suggest otherwise. Women of all tiers are all involved in this to vary degrees. Maybe the issue is that a majority of women are inflating their physical qualities, therefore raising what men believe the average standard of beauty is.

Thanks. Doesn't make me feel better, but that was never the goal tbf. So the general idea I'm getting from you and others is that we'd be fortunate if the woman we snag is only as neurotic as most of the ones here. Big yikes
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/22 12:59 AM

Introspective being a generally good quality, right? Or are you implying that the ladies here are introspective to a fault?

I need to take a serious break from here. Some of the women's opinions I'm reading on this sub are turning me into a depressed doomer. Obligatory: men have plenty of hot takes too, but as a het man I'm more focused on what the ladies are saying.

You've displayed zero effort to hear anybody who bothered to actually answer the question in the OP. I'm not convinced you asked this question in good faith. The only thing you've accomplished is instigate a flame war. You're right, this is a sub for debate, not an echo chamber. One idea I never understood with the make-up thing is that men are constantly reminded that women don't make themselves cute on our behalf. Fine, that's something I can respectfully get behind, but it shouldn't then be used as leverage for how dating men is such a burden when they make it clear that they aren't dressing for men to begin with.

Reading your post gave me a ton of hope for gender relations. Each gender faces enough hardships that there's no need to fabricate additional talking points.

Man here. With some slight nuances, most men I know and myself fall into group number 2. I think the malicious player types are really just an outspoken minority. It's no secret that men crave sex, but what they desire even more is to have sex with somebody they can also share a companionship with. The issue is all about the results. Society can spout whatever it wants to about how men should behave, but the outcome isn't fooling anybody. I think that's why many men are "enjoying the decline", b…

I think you make a really interesting point that I don't think gets enough recognition from folks. Many factors about a standard can be weighed against the average with nominal (but not free) effort, making it easier to dismiss in conversation without doing some legwork. In comparison, if you take a look at the quantifiable stuff, it's really easy to weigh the expectations against reality. So saying that a man needs his shit together first isn't so easily measurable the same way that wanting a m…

Comparing porn to an actual man sharing your company is disingenuous and a false equivalency. It would be different if your partner was enlisting the services of a hooker because you weren't open for sex that week.

And we get to the crux of the problem. Women appear to find overwhelming the majority of men to be unattractive, and yet they have no idea how men can't just conjure up a sexual partner like they can.

Mega based take. Spend 20 years telling men their very existence and innate nature is revolting even downright evil, and you're going to see the impacts on a sociological scale. When men feel like they're not valued in any way, especially sexually, this detachment from society is exactly what you get.

I applaud you for your confidence and glad that it's worked so well for you. I'm not convinced it's the most ethical strategy, but I'm also not going to argue with results. Good for you too for selecting a man before bringing it over to the bedroom. Respect. Like OP said, I don't really care if that's your objective, but I at least expect honesty and not being gaslit otherwise. The only issue I see with hypergamy is the idea that it encourages disposability. Like, sure you might find the most superior mate possible, but does that mean you'll upgrade if the next greatest thing crosses your path one day? If that is indeed the case, I think men being aware of this idea of being swapped out for an upgrade probably makes us less likely to want t…

Speak for yourself, dude. Not all men are desperate enough to lower our standards just to get a little action. I've got way too much pride and respect for myself than to exponentially drop my standards. Many women aren't even that great at sex with a man either, so it's silly to have sex with the first person that breathes in your direction. One thing I really do appreciate about this sub is being able to have these discussions were we can come out with a little more understanding. Note that I worded it this way because these hormonal messages aren't something that's going away, just like your example of PMS. It's a shitty situation, and my heart does go out to y'all because both the toxic messages boys and girls receive messed things up a lot for us. I can relate in some ways because we're taught the only value we have comes from materialism and by extension the things we provide for others. Also the messages that get instilled into girls affects us too because we're given the original sin of being these violent, depraved, and sexual animals. I think you give men too little credit by underestimating their desires. Thinking sex is the end all be all for men is going to be women's downfall. Sex is only supplementary to what men desire. You're coming off like the first half of the meme that says what women think men want, followed by sexual images. Then you've got the second half, which says what men actually want, which depicts images of family, fulfillment, and companionship.

Yeah and in a self-referential context it also used to refer to somebody who was simply lonely and without sex or relationship. There's wasn't this connotation of bitter rage and spitefulness until outsiders appropriated the term as an insult and warped it's original meaning. If you think the same meaning used by critics has the same understanding as what those in the community used it to mean, then you're acting narrow-minded even by contemporary standards. Which is really funny because nearly any insult directed to men is calling him an *ncel or how no woman would ever sleep with him. It's almost always the first avenue of attack, so it leads me to wonder what else these women in question have else to offer. I sincerely believe that many women have more to offer, but you sure as hell wouldn't know it based on how they talk about us. Either that, or they just choose not to offer it at all. It's a tough situation. I won't for even a second excuse the actions of those violent men, but I think the explanation is definitely a societal one. It's no wonder why men act out the way they do. If what you're saying is true, women have already made up their minds on all men before they've had the opportunity to express what they are about. It's like the biological equivalent of original sin, but assigned to the entire sex of men. I'm going to ask again, how are men supposed to form any sort of connection with women if the gate is always closed and the gatekeeper is clearly burdened by your very presence? But yeah, let's just label men as …

If women ever approached men, we wouldn't have to throw so many darts at the board, so to speak. Let me put to you like this, if a man never approaches women, he might as well resign to being single and lonely for the rest of his life. If the efforts put forth were equal and expectations were balanced, we wouldn't even need to be having this discussion. Btw, if catcalling and unwanted touches are going to inflate the number of sexual assaults, fine, but you'd be surprised how incredibly frequent…

How are men supposed to learn how to empathize with women (ignoring the fact that they aren't putting forth the same effort with men) without having opportunities to establish rapport with them out in the world? The ones who are out in public are almost always not wanting to be approached anyways, so what would be your solution? Obviously, I'm not referring to those who aren't interested. Unless you're telling me that women by large aren't interested in dating, I am not convinced that there isn't more to these absent or unapproachable women. At least that's not the attitude I see from women on here or anywhere else on Reddit. It seems like the prevailing attitude is that men must perform like dancing monkeys for a crumb of attention. The narrative does get old when women here say that a majority of men are basement-dwelling porn addicts that haven't seen the sun in over a year. I seriously can't think of one public social space I've ever been too that isn't a total sausage fest. Concerts, clubs, bars, parks, arcades, etc. Very rarely do I see a woman out in those social environments that isn't with her man. That's a very interesting study which covers some findings that indeed conflict with some of the narratives here. What I'd like to see is more studies done on these statistics since we have many years worth of data backing male to see such a sudden change without any guesses as to why that may be. Some data I think would be really interesting to see would be the volition rate among each group, meaning whether they did not have sex by choice or if it was a voluntary decision. If studies continue …

I hear what you're saying, but I'm not exactly sure that I'm convinced just yet. It seems that even swinger pairs are looking for a lady third and almost never a man. I'm not blaming polygamy as some big bad boogyman, nor am I saying we need state mandated girlfriend assignments, but the sexually liberated age we're continually moving towards seems to have indeed benefited a majority of women along with much fewer men. I think that the reduction of restrictions inherent with polygamy, at least i…

Polygamy or other forms of partner sharing is likely what it is. The diminishing number of relationships formed on the basis of monogamy sure isn't the answer. How else would there be a disproportionate rate of sexlessness between genders in this balanced™ dating field that you and others on here seem to believe in? The number of lesbian partnerships have not increased substantially enough to both take over gay couples and affect the stat that much.

Sometimes I wonder if people who have been through the ringer will actually form stronger connections with somebody who's been down their own path to improvement. If the goal in dating is to form a bond with somebody who gets them, maybe targeting those with their own history makes for the most sensible approach. Is it really that big of a shocker that men being told their physical presence is theatening and unwanted has coaxed more of them to migrate onto the apps? You've got an interesting perspective of looking at this problem btw. Why is the issue of too many men on a dating app, but not too few women? Men are conditioned not to be allowed to have any input on women's issues. Who hasn't read, "if you don't have a uterus, your opinion is worthless", on social media before? This comes back to bite women when something happens like Roe getting overturned and try to rally for support. In a capitalist market, services will only be successfully rendered to those willing to pay for it. You're right though, and it's a shame with these sorts of predatory practices you see from dating apps. The closest comparison I can think of irl is when nightclubs have no cover for women only, knowing that men will flock, the spenders that they are. I think the dissonance here is that just because women who aren't overweight are the minority, doesn't mean men's standards are invalid. It seems to boil down to this one fundamental: Society doesn't feel comfortable when their workhorses complain or do anything besides provide. Of course, there are enough exceptions worth mentioning, such as family, friends, or the uncommon romantic partner who actually values their other half on a subconscious level. I don't inherently blame society for doing what society does, but I do hold some irritation towards the way men are shamed for venting what they've observed. I'm more than willing …

I think it helps those who are frustrated to feel validated when venting their frustrations. After all, who doesn't want to feel heard? Despite what gender norms might say, even men have emotional hygiene that needs upkeep.

Lol gone are the days of telling men to take showers. Now any guy who struggles with dating must be gay. Imagine that.

I couldn't agree more, and really appreciate reading your posts. It's refreshing to hear somebody else on this subreddit sharing your outlook. That's the very bare minimum just to feel comfortably at peace in your own skin. Reading your post, I'm reminded of a quote I once read about forgiving others, not because they deserve the forgiveness, but because you deserve the peace. I think by virtue of being human, we should have that happiness by whatever means, short of depriving somebody their own…

Not caring ≠ Homophobia Many people would benefit from understanding that simple idea. I think the greatest form of equality is to be treated unremarkably, just like the rest of society lol. There's never any place for bigotry, but that doesn't mean most people want it forcefully shoved into the free real estate of our minds.

Um....okay, wow. I could understand minimal resistance from others from somebody using themselves as a point of discussion for beauty standards, and maybe I could even wrap my mind around others being reluctant to compliment a woman on the internet out of fear of being perceived as a "simp", but I don't understand where all of the vitriol from that thread was coming from. I'll die on the very same hill as you by saying that we would all be doing so much better to share a little more kindness to …

Oh, no rush or anything like that. I can only perceive the world through my own eyes and standards, so seeing what others think helps me to understand the situation we all face. Don't get me wrong, both sexes have their immense struggles, but I think we could all benefit from a little more listening and a bit less talking.

Do you have a link of that thread? I don't doubt you, but that's something I'm insanely curious to see for myself.

You're hear no argument from me there. It's incredible that just being at a healthy weight immediately makes one above average for both sexes.

I highly doubt women are going after fat men at a higher rate than men are going after overweight women. Women aren't pursuing fat men either on top of their numerous other standards. That's the point worth making here. Don't act like men are being picky when women's standards are much more exclusive by far.

7/100 cases That's a fringe minority. I never said that there isn't certain cases where it's justified, but when 93% are for reasons due to personal inconveniences, I find it hard to understand how so many people here are taking the moral high ground with the stance. But yes, I do think those 7% should have the access to abortions that they need. I'd be more willing to get behind the idea if that side was more honest about the reasons people are primarily seeking abortion. But between each side …

Those are the exceptions, not the rule. I'm not even pro-life, maybe on the fence, but fringe cases shouldn't be the foundational basis of an argument.

Talk about comedy gold, those posts lol. I'm open to input and suggestions from the opposite sex about how men can respectfully approach them, but it needs to be both feasible and workable. These people need to understand that it's not for a lack of trying that many guys here are frustrated with the current state of dating.

The part that stood out to me the most was how two thirds of his matches weren't even contacted. Unless that many profiles were scams, it does seem a bit odd if they're trying to prove a point about men's experience online. I haven't yet watched the video since I'm at work, so forgive me if this has already been addressed.

So let me get this straight. The onus is on her to declare her standards, but not you? I'm getting a headache trying to work through those logical hurdles you've got to leap through to make that assertion.

Do you have any suggestions of a book that guys could read that you could vouch for it's validity? Since this is a topic you feel strongly about, I want to meet you in the middle here, but saying men need to brush up on their techniques while not offering any specifics is what gets really impressionable guys to mistakenly think what they see in porn or movies is how to treat a woman in bed. Maybe not all guys, but I think some want to put forth the effort, but are overwhelmed with the vast array…

I don't see how your can classify a group as top women, and in the same breath say they are below VS models (I.e. not fat, but cute looking). Sounds like they aren't "top" women then. Don't get me wrong. You're making a fair point that both sides are guilty, but I don't think it's anywhere near as extreme as you're making it seem for men.

Well yeah, can you blame us? Personally, I'm not interested in dating a woman that weighs more than I do.

You can't die from a bullet. You can die from a cardiac arrest or organ failure or a major hemorrhage, small piece of metal ain't the problem.
