It’s been really hard to watch shows through the FDS lens, so I’ve been binging on Top Chef. It totally satiates my competition and drama cravings and some (not all) of the women on the show are crazy talented and inspiring. Yeah, some contestants aren’t HV, but the show doesn’t focus on their personal lives so it doesn’t take away from the show. Eric from season 16 is hands down my favorite, what he did in season 17 for his wife (ep 5 for those that are curious) I melted.

I definitely didn’t initiate the breakup but I certainly ended it. I was with my college boyfriend (who was in a fraternity) at a bar and as I was making my way to get another drink he slapped my ass. Annoying, because I’m not big on PDA. But apparently his drunk brothers saw this as a green light to do it too. I FLIPPED and, like a coyote going after chickens, I started chasing them around the bar and smacking their asses, saving my boyfriend for last. He was livid (wow really no way!) and left…

I hate that society refuses to believe that women KNOW they don’t want to be a mother from a young age. This has been my argument as of late and maybe it doesn’t change their mind but it sure shuts them up: Say you’re a doctor. And you’ve known you’ve wanted to be a doctor ever since you were a child. So you graduate high school, you go to college and study pre-med. Then you take the MCAT and go to med school. And then you do your rotations, pass your boards, complete residencies, and then pass …

They do truly see it as a challenge! I've had men go full 'bear riding a bicycle while juggling' trying to convince me to change my mind while I sit in the stands eating popcorn watching it unfold. But when the show's over, it's still a circus, and I'm leaving. The whole 'nature finds a way' is so incredibly unsettling to me knowing that's an indicator he'd 100% mess with any form of protection. Guess he's blocked just like your tubes 😂 Side note- so glad you were able to get that procedure done…

I am entirely in the child free camp (always have been, always will be) but I've been toying with the idea of starting to date again and I'm at that age where the kids question is entirely unavoidable so I went down that rabbit hole of thought to see how I would handle the ask. And here we are. In the past I used the same approach as you- remove any possibility of that option up front to weed them out, but that can end up as a double edged sword. It runs the risk of LVM not thoroughly vetted not…

I mean he mentions that he’s “heavily into music” but then hits you with the billboard top 100? That’s not heavily into music- that’s just him having the radio going while he plays video games or puhtz around the house in 5 day old underwear. I’m someone who’s heavily into a few related music genres and whenever I encounter someone who describes themselves like this schlub, it becomes very apparent within 3 minutes they’re not as educated as they’d like to think they are. They’re just a normal p…

Read the handbook and 2. Don’t sit around, don’t wait, don’t make excuses for him. Block, delete, and walk away.

When I look back on my relationship I'm completely unsure of who I even was. Within my three year relationship with my ex I - Allowed 7+ months to pass before getting commitment from him. - Took him back after a argument (over text, nonetheless) where he thought I was with someone else. - Moved into an apartment HE wanted which was almost out of my means, not the one I wanted. - Did not fight him when he told me he was leaving for an internship in a city 6+ hours away, a month after we moved in …

Right??? I understand that it’s the nature of job to not receive a please or thank you. I accepted that years ago. What really stuck out was the fact that the women were trying to overcompensate for them. Enabling their childish entitlement. When women do this they’re not doing anything for them besides allowing them to wipe their feet.

You should read some of the responses from that pic on murderedbywords... People are jumping to defend the same people called out and it’s not even the right sub!

..... are you me?? I don’t think I’ve ever related to something so much before. Everything. Living situation, job growth, and especially fitness. I’m the confident take no shit bitch that has always been told I’m intimidating until they talk to me, and then I’m the bubbly wise comic who always knows what to say. Until there’s mutual interest in a guy and whoosh it’s gone. I’m working on all of these too and so far, this is what I got for you- DO the fitness thing. Especially if you’re looking to…

It sounds like you’re infatuated with the idea of him. It’s only been one date, you really don’t know that much about him. Like a pining for the unknown. With that being said, this sounds like it’s falling into the “crush” category. Texting creates this false intimacy and yes you may have messaged him for weeks before meeting up, it wasn’t face to face. People are able to hide a lot when they’re behind a screen. Drop the idea of ‘what could have been’. Being stuck in the past is only going to st…

I’m new-ish to adopting FDS but I’ve always had an aversion to getting into relationships unless the guy proved himself to me. I’m so grateful for this community because it’s finally putting words to how I’ve always felt. I’ve been dabbling in OLD (I know, I know) and I think the one thing I’m having trouble with is identifying flags AS they happen in real time as opposed to later on well after the conversation is over. Any advice on how I can work on this?

Yeah it’s weird. We’ve been on 3 dates with maybe 7 hours max of actual conversation, with very little communication in between because we only text when he sets up a date and casual flirting before and after. I even called him out on it. I was on the fence because there were some yellow flags, but typing it out pretty much sealed his fate. Thanks sis for the nudge, I needed it.

Felt like he was fishing for compliments... what do you like about meeee!? It just came off as kind of needy and a little insecure.

Holy shit I JUST started doing this too! Keeping track of topics we discussed, who was initiating conversation, their background, hobbies, and goals. I keep meticulous notes of my workouts and meetings with my therapist, so why wouldn’t I do the same with the men I date? I knew I wanted to keep track of the information but I wasn’t sure what I’d do with the information but this helps a LOT. So so glad you posted this, thank you!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
