Hey! Thank you so so much for thinking of me.

I replied to your other comment on how we talked about the RP lifestyle and how I wanted to live, and how I was immensely particular about making sure he knew and wanted the same thing organically.

I’ve put out a bunch of applications already and plan on putting out more. We definitely talked about RP values and I was abundantly clear on what I wanted/expected out of our relationship, especially since the beginning, because I didn’t want to waste my time on people who didn’t see things my way. I was very active on my pursuit on traditional femininity and values and never shy away from conversations about it, especially with him. In talking to him last night, he mentioned me not being consi…

I’m definitely persuading him to go to therapy!

That’s an excellent idea!! I’ll start doing that. Thank you!

I wrote a comment on what he was like earlier in our relationship and even in our marriage. He sank into a deep depression and became a husk of the man he was, which is what I’m dealing with now.

Gotcha. We’re going to hang out with some of his friends out of town this weekend, and I’ve asked them to have a “guys night” of some kind. We don’t have any local community yet, and this was the best I could do, so hopefully that’ll do the trick.

Probably so. I’ve been honestly distraught over the situation that any small desperate steps I’ve taken recently seems almost inconsequential.

I’ll put it in the post! He hasn’t been attending classes recently which has also added to my concern.

We’re taking steps to get involved at a small, local church and I’ve been trying to push him to get some mentorship from an old friend. Thank you so much!

When we got married, a lot of the friends we had drifted away and got super distant. We would check on them, text them, I would bring them baked goods and ask if they needed anything, but they got cold and stand off-ish. Eventually, they decided that it was not ideal for us to remain friends. We never had any money to really contribute when disaster struck them, and all I could really do was prepare a meal or some baked goods, but that wasn’t enough.

Definitely no kids until this problem is in the distant, distant past.

As far as why I chose him, when I met him, we were coworkers. He was an extremely hard worker and had distinct goals in life of grad school and eventually wanting to pastor. He had such a clear sense of morality and even on our first meeting did not hesitate to call me out on things I wasn’t doing well, and would teach me to be better. He was gentle, kind and well respected in the community, had no debt, and even though it wasn’t technically his responsibility yet, he led me through some hard ti…

I don’t. I’m pretty much stuck at the moment, so the only way out is through.

You’re definitely right. It’s easy to get exasperated when all I’ve done is give and I’m at the end of my rope. He’s stopped attending classes this week, which is also why I’ve been stressed.

I’m Chinese/Indian mix and grew up in Singapore and he’s white American.

Depression is a wild, wild thing. Definitely feels like I don’t know who I married anymore.

We don’t have a community sadly. Just us. No breaking up allowed as we’re very much so newlyweds.

Thank you so much! Sadly I don’t have any friends/in contact family since I got married, my family relations have always been strained and friends are too caught up in their own stages of life at the moment.

I can’t leave now or I lose my job. I make the bulk of our finances at the job I have. The hospital I work at has the policy that more than six days of missed work or leaving work early a year = termination. I missed four days when I had my procedure and left ~30 mins early one day two months ago to handle my name change.

I can’t go now. If I left work early, I get fired. It’s the same reason I had to go back to work as soon as I did post procedure. I make the bulk of our money at the moment, and if I get fired = no income.

Hi! My husband and I worked together as servers. We knew each other as acquaintances, he had dated one of my coworkers the summer before we started working together. I didn’t have a great impression of him because of that, and sought to ignore him at work. He started conversation with me and was determined to make me laugh. We had lunch and talked for three hours, and we started watching a series on a consistent basis. He was my best friend, and I guarded my rp values pretty closely, and after m…

Thank you so much! I’m actually culturally Chinese and from south east Asia, and I’ll look into it so I can reconnect to my roots. That’s super insightful

Yes! I definitely married up. I think the frustrating part is that I was in the military, got out, and had severe PTSD from it. I’ve been through a lot of therapy and I’m coming out the other side, but picking up the pieces and rebuilding myself just seems like such a crazy big task to undertake. When I have days where I’m a glimpse of my healthy self it’s wonderful and we’re both type A and doing great, but every other day seems so grey and apathetic. I don’t know if that makes sense!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
