Sadly it looks like you're going to have to "friendzone" him, although I hate to use that word. I think what he's doing now isn't exactly appropriate (by my personal standards at least), but you need to make it clear to him that you're not interested in a relationship so he doesn't get hurt down the road. As for being friends with men, I think's it's possible. I could see where male-female friendships might often become romantic, but I think it's also possible to remain platonic. As long as you …

Ooooh boy, I could go on about this for hours. Here's a few: Feminists purport to be all about letting a woman choose her own lifestyle, but what they usually mean by that is that women should be encouraged to pursue careers and be independent. As soon as a woman says confidently that she wants to be a stay-at-home mother, she is accused of having "internalized misogyny" and complying with the patriarchy. But if feminists were really for letting women choose, they would be supportive of a woman …

I don't know how I feel about the claim that no man is born an "alpha." Certainly there are men whose "default setting" is to be beta and who have to learn to hone their masculinity. But what is your proof that no men are born with a personality naturally high in masculinity? I've personally known many young men and boys who exhibit very masculine/alpha traits from a young age. I don't know if you're a man or a woman, OP, but if you're a man I feel like you might be projecting. Just because you …

I didn't mean for my comment to come across as a defense of rapists. There is no excuse for rape, and they should be punished accordingly. I'm simply saying that it's not uncommon for a rape investigation to eventually reveal that the rapist had a dark past that involved some kind of sexual or physical abuse. I think it's common knowledge that anyone who bullies or hurts others is fuelled by anger and psychological damage from being abused themselves. I think instead of just blaming rapists for …

Your basic personal well-being should always come first, in my opinion. Sleep is absolutely crucial for your health and you shouldn't compromise it, especially if you're waking up at 4:30am to interact with children all day. It's really unfortunate that your job is disrupting your romantic life, but since your husband is the one who suggested you take the extra shift he should understand that you're tired and not always up for sex. Forcing yourself to stay awake just to satisfy him isn't fun for…

That sounds kind of ridiculous. It's not his concern when you're on your period. If he prompts sex during that time of the month, let him know, but otherwise who cares? It's not like he's not allowed to know, but there's no real reason for it. And like you said, sometimes us ladies don't even know when it's coming, so how could we expect men to!? :P

I over heard him telling the same friend that Im desperate to settle down because I suggested we buy a house together. But I didn't say any of that. He was the one that suggested and pushed the idea to buy a house together, not me. If he's making comments like that, it sounds like he's the one who's a little insecure about his lifestyle choices. Are people around him pushing him in a different direction, or making him feel ashamed for wanting to settle down with you? I somehow doubt that it has …

I agree with you /u/batting4fireflies . There's a difference between making yourself vulnerable to a certain consequence and being morally deserving of said consequence. I understand what you're saying /u/loneliness-inc but I think "deserve" is the wrong word for what you're describing. An expected outcome is not the same as a punishment for acting foolishly.

By "covering up" I did not mean wearing a burkha. I just meant not showing everything for the world to see..

To me one of the worst things about all this is that feminists are telling men that just because a woman dresses provocatively or flirts with them doesn't necessarily mean she wants to have sex. I can't imagine how confused men must be nowadays with this narrative!! They must be terrified to interact with women for fear that they're accused of sexual assault! The way we dress and act isn't meaningless, and is an amazing tool for non-verbal communication. But now it's all breaking down!!

I agree with you completely, but I think a feminist's response would be that the solution should be teaching men not to rape, rather than asking women to be cautious. To me this seems too idealistic, since men often rape because they were also abused (as a child, for example)

So we get to keep our old flairs, great – but why can't we edit them? What if our "status", or age for that matter, changes? It'll just stay the way it is forever?

I have things like my prom and a weeks holiday away with my best friends in a few months time so I'm really focusing on those things Excellent, I'm glad to hear it. I think at our age friends are a lot more important than boyfriends :P My friends have told me to focus on me right now and to focus on getting amazing grades and getting into University and that I will likely meet someone there Oh yeah, people tell me this a lot too. I can tell that this is good advice in theory, but I feel like some of my insecurities would get in the way. I hate the idea of making a silly excuse to talk to a guy and make myself look stupid by doing so. I'm not a fan of "putting myself down", so to speak, to get attention. Am I interpreting this the wrong way? Is there a way to get past this?

I feel like I want to give you a hug, I relate to this so much <3 I've been RP'd for a couple years now (I'm 18), have never had a boyfriend, and I'm also going into uni next year. Is it normal to be single at 17 years old? Oh my gosh, OF COURSE it is!! I 110% understand the pressure you feel to be in a relationship at this age. I feel it too, all the time. Even if no one says it explicitly, there seems to be an underlying pressure for teens to be in relationships. It's not wrong to have a boyfr…

It's hard to say what/who first got me red-pilled, but it was mostly through youtube and people like Jordan Peterson. Since then I've just started following more traditional values that my mother has taught me (that I used to ignore) because they make the most sense to me.

It is important for a man to lead a relationship, but that doesn't mean you have to obey his every whim!! Just because he wants sex doesn't mean you have to give it to him. Use your judgement and do what feels right to you. And I would talk to him about it as well. Explain why you'd want to wait to have sex, instead of just saying "no" and leaving him confused. It's really hard to say at what point a relationship should become sexual. Every relationship is different, and all people are different…

I don't see why talking about it would emasculate him. As long as you approach it in a gentle and non-condescending way, and be honest about how you feel it's impacting the relationship.

It sounds like you two have a lot of potential, but it's good that you're thinking this through before you make any final decisions. Here's a couple things that stick out to me: Do you live in the same city/region? Even though long-distance relationships are possible, they're not easy. If you want to start dating this guy, proximity might be something important to consider, because this will determine how often you can see each other in real life. No need to have sex on the first "date"!!! You m…

I'm not sure I would consider most of those things "masculine" interests (except for weightlifting). Forgive me for sounding a bit like a feminist, but what restricts women from being interested in history, philosophy, religion, etc? There are certainly some disciplines that are, you could say, "gendered" (hard sciences being more for men, social sciences for women, for example), but the ones you mentioned are as neutral as they come, in my opinion. Oh my goodness, I feel like I'm looking in a mirror when I read this post! I am very similar to you in that the idea of opening up emotionally in terms of sex is a little terrifying. I think for me, this is probably because I'm just inexperienced. I've never dated or had sex, so that realm is completely foreign to me; and the unknown can be scary sometimes. I'm sure a lot of people are just naturally very open and have no problem sharing their emotions, but for us who have a hard time with that,…

Just remember that this fast-paced life will be short-term. You're only doing it for 15 months, and while it might be putting stress on your relationship, it won't last forever. It's so good that you communicated how you feel to your partner, because if you didn't it would have likely made things more tense. It sounds like you both really want you to have this job, so just keep the end in sight and look forward to the "light at the end of the tunnel", so to speak. Once you're done with school, y…

often times, I feel immature, like a little girl in a crowd of women If you're trying to dress feminine and mature, you shouldn't feel childish. If anything, they're the ones who are being childish by partying and such. As for being shy, that's not something you can change overnight, and eventually you'll get past it. Just try not to think too much about what others think of you, and dress and act the way that makes you feel happiest. Of course, what other people think is important to some exten…

Honestly, I'm still pretty young so I don't think it would be worth it to go back to my 14 year old self and change her. Yes, I was very cringey in middle school, but I think it was a necessary step to become who I am now. Luckily I discovered the RPW community and haven't dated or had sex yet (not even kissed anyone!), and I am absolutely going to take all of your ladies' advice for the future :)

Sex: it's completely normal and OK to have sexual urges! The question is whether or not you should act on them. In my opinion, 13 is too young to have sex. I don't mean to be insulting, so please don't take it that way, but at 13 your decision-making brain is not fully developped and it's not wise to make decisions like that that you may regret (even if you think you won't regret it -- you might someday). Of course, you are free to do what you want, but please think it through very well first. F…

The most obvious piece of advice is: fake it til you make it. It's a cliche, but it actually works. Even if, on the inside, you feel insecure, act as though you don't. It's going to take a lot of practice, but at some point you'll realize that just acting more confident will make you FEEL more confident! This is a real psychological phenomenon! Funny how the brain works :)

I think most people who see a therapist will always tell you the same thing: "I wish I started going sooner." I didn't know how true this would be until I started going. I've uncovered things from when I was a little kid that have stayed with me and affected me years later!! It's so enlightening, I'd really recommend it. And you don't need to have a "huge problem" to see a therapist. I think everyone could benefit from knowing more about themselves and sorting out their problems with help from a…

Yeah, when I get super stressed over something I just explode. I started seeing a therapist about 3 months ago, and she's really helped me understand why I keep my feelings down and what causes them. After my 2nd or 3rd session with her I had a crying episode at school. My emotions just wanted to come out and I couldn't control them! At least it's a sign that I'm getting better

ISFJ - this totally fits me! My type is supposedly "contradictory" lol Though sensitive, Defenders have excellent analytical abilities; though reserved, they have well-developed people skills and robust social relationships; and though they are generally a conservative type, Defenders are often receptive to change and new ideas. It says one of my biggest weaknesses is repressing my feelings, which is sadly true :/

I probably would have said "You don't need to spend lots of money on me to make me happy", or something along those lines. I'm not one to really want to be pampered or to induldge in expensive things.

That's an interesting point. I think a lot of radical feminists probably do things like that ("defying beauty standards") because they're very insecure and don't want to put in the effort to better themselves.

I can tell you that, from an outsider's perspective, seeing a girl/woman dressed up really nice and feminine makes me super happy for them. I can tell they're comfortable in their own skin, and seeing someone clean up nice is just... satisfying, you know? Then again, I know some girls who haven't made an effort to mature, and dress the same as when they were 12 (literally..). I don't know what's going on inside their heads, but they definitely don't look as confident and happy as mature, feminin…

I understand. I used to be really bitter towards feminine girls because I thought they were superficial and too "girly". I'm realizing this was probably because I was actually envious of them. I know how hard it is to get past those prejudices. It can be difficult to feel natural and like yourself when you start "dressing up" more than you used to. I think that feeling eventually goes away as it becomes more habitual. It's always good to keep in mind that you deserve to look beautiful, and you h…

My style is probably best described as 1970s. I refuse to wear any pants but bellbottoms and I love love love turtlenecks. Floral patterns are my go-to to look more feminine, and my favourite colours to wear are dark reds, greens, and browns. I also love me a button-up print blouse, and usually my hair is neatly brushed and loose. I'm still building my wardrobe too, and I'm anxious to get my hands on a pair of wooden platform boots!! <3

I love looking feminine and being polite, gentle, pleasant, and so on... but my music taste would suggest quite the opposite! I adore classic rock n roll, even the hard stuff. I don't think you would guess that from looking at me! I'm seeing a lot of amazing women in the comments boasting their career and social achievements. That's awesome! If the reason you think that post-secondary education is unnecessary is that you plan to be a stay-at-home wife/mother and will not be working, I would say think again. Once your children are grown up and no longer need constant care, you'll definitely still be within working age. And then what are you going to do with yourself? With no children to care for, it would make sense to take up a career. I think getting a formal education is very important, even if you don't use it right away.

In my early teens I was pretty against looking feminine as well, although I never considered myself a "tomboy". I remember my mother telling me once when I was about 13 that one day I would appreciate looking pretty and put-together, and I just scoffed at her. Now I'm realizing that she was right! In the past year or so (coinciding with getting red-pilled, interestingly), I've started to really discover my sense of style and I want to be more feminine as well. Speaking from personal experience, my best friend is a guy, but... he's gay :P Before I knew about that, though, I went through an emotional rollercoaster over him. When we first met we immediately became friends, but after a while I started to develop a romantic interest in him. I was really confused and upset for a while because I couldn't figure out how he felt about me (I know, I should have just talked to him about it, but I was scared to). I shop at thrift stores! I know that might sound tacky, but actually I find a lot of good quality clothes in those places. I've never felt comfortable wearing brand clothes or shopping in malls. My style is sort of unique (best described as 1970s vintage) and I could never find clothes that I genuinely loved until I started shopping at second hand stores. I highly recommend it if you're looking for unique and cheap items!

I completely understand. My parents were never married and separated when I was about a year old. I've never seen a good example of a steady, loving relationship, and I know that it will affect my future relationships. The best thing is to be honest about it if you think it's the next step in getting to know each other. Being in my late teens, I have some skin problems, though not extremely severe (a bit of acne and the like). For my skin I use a basic facial cleanser and then medicated moisturizer. My makeup is always very minimal and (I think) natural-looking (no crazy contouring or weird colours). As far as body hair goes, I shave my legs every other day in the summer to keep them smooth, but I don't bother in the winter since I don't wear shorts. Same goes for armpits, mostly. I know the feeling. I've never met a guy who shared this view on relationships and sex, so I'm also worried that when I start dating I'm going to encounter a lot of guys who think I'm a prude or a tease for wanting to wait. You seem like a person with a good moral compass, so it might be hard for you to believe that all these women want is attention. The way I see it, they probably have some major insecurities and will take any kind of attention they can get, even if it's impersonal and cheap. I'm about your age and have never been in a relationship, let alone had sex, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But here's where I stand on this sort of thing: I'm not into the "waiting until marriage" thing. I think women who go with that plan are very admirable for their commitment, but I think it's an unreasonable expectation. I feel as if the red pill makes women less valuable to society than men. For example, a masculine man works, and benefits the whole of society. For example, a doctor or engineer. On that note, I cannot see any value in relation to the traits of femininity. For example, how does a housewife have any benefit to the world? What significant things do they have to offer, compared to the engineers and doctors mentioned above. I think you're forgetting that housewives/mothers have possibly the most imp…
