oh I didn't realize that's what it meant! I thought you were exaggerating not being sarcastic. so I guess what you're really saying is that my husband's parenting confidence really shouldn't be so easily undermined?

sometimes I wish that husband would simply pass the baby to me when he gets that upset without it having any kind of underlying message of him not being a good enough father or something....I Just think it's so natural for me to console such a small baby, and I don't see any issue with a division of labor. he's better at x with baby, I'm better at y. it doesn't mean we aren't both great parents.

yikes, I don't want to ruin anything with our family because husband is a great dad (like it literally melts my heart how good of a dad he is), but it's this one small thing that has now become a big thing because I just can't handle hearing baby cry. Do you think there's any way that your wife could have helped you without discouraging you or confirming your fears? Or were there really only two options--either zip it completely or have a hands off dad?

yeah tbh my husband is masculine to a fault, he doesn't have as many facial expressions as me and he's very monotone, all reasons why I find him so incredibly hot. And at the same time maybe not as comforting for baby obviously. Baby is five months old, I thin he recognizes us, and dad still spends tons of time with him. We have a super mellow baby, hes' really not miserable at all so we are grateful for that. Just sometimes when he's sleepy is when he cries a lot. I really want to be better abo…

I feel like you really understand what I'm going through because it does literally hurt physically to hear him crying like that and every bone in my body is saying to go get him. And I wonder if I should honor it? Like I'm not respecting myself as a woman but shoving my motherly instincts under the bus and saying I'm overreacting. I guess I also somehow feel guilty toward my son if I were to do that, like, I'm not doing everything I can for him and not making him the number one priority. I don't…

baby suffering unnecessarily is the bad thing even though there are no lasting consequences. too much to me is a combination of it being avoidable (by changing techniques) and the severity of it.

I agree he sounds suspicious. it depends on what OP values. I'd rather be with someone whom I have chemistry with than someone who's stable and I have no chemistry with. Stable isn't a good or bad thing, you could have a miserable and stable relationship (which would suck lol and you'd hope it falls apart). That's where I'm coming from but I completely agree he's suspicious as of right now.

sounds like Man A is better but too bad he's not divorced, I'd be extremely careful. I'd ask him if he's willing to get a divorce to be with you. if it doesn't happen in a timely manner, go for Man B.

this is an unpopular opinion maybe, but take it from me, I'm 30 and looking back when I was early 20s, there's no such thing as a 'friendly' interaction with a guy. I was just naive. Don't even waste your time and don't bother. what's the plan anyway? become best friends with a guy and go over to his place and watch movies? you have a boyfriend. *even* things that start out friendly (which is doubtful btw), if your friendship deepens then the guy will inevitably start to want more. again take it…

the diconnect between your sex drive+fantasies being *up here* and your experience being *down here* is in part what's causing this, and probably so long that you haven't acted on any of them that you've built it up so high. what can help is telling your bf that you're extremely anxious and want to be open with him and not clam up. you can tell him if you kiss, would he mind if you ask him to stop when you feel yourself clamming up? this will really help a lot.

if you drop a pencil and he yells at you and becomes unreasonably angry and makes it into a huge relationship issue.....you wouldn't be breaking up over a pencil.

yeah that's why I was trying to clarify. If that is the case then it sounds like he heard out OP at the beginning of the relationship, kept all of this in mind, and remembered two years later that now is the time to start thinking about marriage. maybe it was a bit of a misunderstanding that op was expecting a proposal exactly in two years while her bf was thinking it was a bit more flexible/they'd talk about it/plan it at the two year mark which seems like exactly what he's doing. edit: I mean …

there are actually plenty of girls like you in college. you just don't see them since they don't go out much or they just do other stuff like go to the gym or hang out with friends in their dorm rooms. they just go to class and then go to their dorm rooms. i'd say try to make friends with girls like that.

wait so do you mean that the timeline shifted from 2 years to 2 years and 6 months, and he also thought out loud about how summer is a good time to propose/get married?

I'm really sorry to hear this. The reason I asked is because I knew someone who was sexually assaulted pretty severely and said she was bi, married a woman, and then later divorced and married a man and told me she was so happy. In her case, I wonder if she had so much trauma around men that she felt safer around women (not that she was actually attracted to women). Of course I couldn't possibly know if this is even her case or your case, but I thought I'd offer that perspective in case it reson…

it sounds like you guys could have something. my main issue here is that you're the one who has to visit. this early on, he would visit you if he's interested. stay in touch and tell him you miss him and want him to visit. if he won't, then move on.

yeah i've seen unattractive unsuccessful men (aka 'low value' apparently which is debatable), treat women like sh** and then I've seen attractive men with high earning potential treat all women with respect. it's a standard that a man sets for himself (how he treats others), same for women. and I have to say, I'm seeing that RP philosophy implies that the way someone treats you is more about how much 'higher value' they are than you (aka they'll treat you like sh** if they're higher value, as if…

OP don't assume this is your fault, or that you aren't good enough for him. Perhaps he's not good enough for you. Men who can't be honest from the beginning (both factually and emotionally) and not lead a woman on aren't high value because they lack honesty, discipline, and honor. edit: as for what you can do, you can start by building up enough self respect to not see him if you don't have that self respect already. if you don't have that self respect, then you can take a short cut and only dec…

First off, it's disrespectful to be fake. I'd say use Laura Doyle's idea of 'staying on your own page'. So in practice this means, you have certain boundaries for how this kid talks to *you* and your four year old, but how he talks to others is your husband's situation to deal with. I'd also stop baking treats for the stepson immediately/being sweet/feminine with him. Imo this is for your husband not for little boys. If he's normal and respectful, be normal back, maybe make treats whatever. If h…

yes of course. it's total bs that if you don't love yourself you can't love others. like people with bad self esteem or broken people are incapable of love? i don't think so at all. i think you're just as capable of love as all of us. <3

why don't you ask him if he's up for moving the wedding date closer? this seems like the most practical solution and both of you can be happy.

lol I don't think Mrs. Midwest actually wears her hair down every time she does housework. It's youtube not real life. I wonder if half up half down is more practical, at least your hair will be out of your face.

I don't necessarily have a traumatic past but I do have emotional problems. Here are some thoughts that have helped me: Just as beautiful as hope and trust is vulnerability. Doing something even though you're scared or hurt. That's openness and receptivity, that's femininity. I don't really operate under trust/not trust. I only ask myself if it's worth the risk of getting hurt. Femininity isn't always positivity. Femininity at its core is receptivity and that means being open to experience and b…

yeah I'm sure there are exceptions, women who like submissive men. but I think the majority of women are just buying the lie of feminism and thinking nothing better is out there. I really think a lot of them haven't met a real man. If they did, that'd put things into perspective.

Your looks won't stay the same for the next nine years from a man's perspective no matter how hot you are. From a woman's perspective they will, but 26 and 35 are two completely different stories to a man. Take it from me, I'm also kind of exotic looking and hot (and wanted a man to submit to). But now I'm 30. It's not like I'm 20. But having said that, it's a really bad sign if you're 26 and you already feel this way about your guy. I think my husband is literally the hottest guy in the world I…

How do you feel about doing most of the cleaning? Does he cook or do the snow cleaning/mowing? There was a study that said when spouses added up the percentages of house chores they both claimed to do, the total was always over 100%. I thought that was kind of cute. so for all we know, he thinks he's doing 80% too. My husband tells me to clean less all the time (and our place is a mess tbh), and getting to the bottom of it, he doesn't care if the place is clean at all, he doesn't like it when I …

given the circumstances, I would try to hold out and not invite him. you could tell him you miss him though, like in a few days toward the end of the week or something. these aren't hard and fast rules or anything, when I met my husband I invited him over every other day, but I could also tell he was very interested, he'd commute an hour to see me whenever I texted him, stay longer, always respond, etc etc. so it's a play it by ear type of thing. In your situation since it seems like he's acting…

It really won't do the trick, planning a date, asking to see him more, will make things worse. This is all masculine energy. I'd recommend backing off as best as you can, stop texting first, etc etc (easier said than done and don't look at me), but when I've managed to do it, it does have the best results. If you do text, communicate feelings not wants......'I miss you' not 'I want to see you'. 'I miss you' isn't telling him what to do, it's just saying how you feel. 'I want to see you' is you i…

I try to get sleepwear that's flattering, and also heat style my hair when I'm out of the shower (I don't wash my hair every day). So then when I wake up, I'm in a frilly nightgown and a cute robe, and my hair is tousled but still heat styled. Tbh, I'd say the number one key is to never look bad--don't own any unflattering clothing, period (literally everything you own should be flattering, from underwear to leggings to skirts, whatever). Full pajamas are my nemesis. They tend to be unflattering…

No way dude, this is such a reductionist argument. If we follow your logic, then my husband's most valuable asset is also the sex, is that right? because if he turned into a woman (personality and all), then he and I could only be friends. Also, as a side note, I wonder what you think of this: sexual attraction is about much more than just body parts. I bet plenty of guys would rather sleep with Blaire White, a trans woman, than a butch lesbian (not an insult, some identify as butch). It's this …

I don't see any problem with porn because sex isn't my biggest--my respect, love, and approval is my biggest asset. for sex, get a sex doll. women pornstars should get paid more than men pornstars--it would be an insult not to. women's sex is more valuable than men's. but sex or money or whatever isn't the most valuable thing about either sex. very reductionist.

honor code. doesn't have to be perfect but the closer to random videos vs a specific person the situation is, the better. vs pursuing a certain person, even paying for exclusive content etc, I wouldn't like that. I think the honor code works pretty well, people know what they're doing.

What's up with RP men--yes, it's not news women like tall hot men, you like tiny hot women....it's not news women want a capable man who will take care of her while she's pregnant, you want a young woman with a low n count, none of this is news. The common argument is that women are only after men for their resources, but that's the same as me saying men are only after women for sex. would these men say that they only want a woman for sex, and have never loved a woman? can you not see how the sa…

As a woman, I really don't care what other people do with their bodies, and I should be able to sell my own body as well. This is my moral argument. If it's unsafe, it's the government's job to protect our basic rights, which is rights to our own bodies....including to sell it. Anyway, if I were to ever be against it, it wouldn't be out of self interest, it would be because of the trafficking and practicality. I think most women are like this--people are just ignorant, it doesn't mean that they …

I saw Bret Weinstein talk about jealousy in relationships, and how because of evolution, women are more worried about abandonment, and men are more worried about caring for children that aren't their own. So when men get jealous, they get jealous about sex, when women get jealous, they get jealous about emotional intimacy. I really don't see the big deal if my husband watches porn at all. Especially when I get old, he might be interested in watching some hot 20 year olds, fine by me. As long as …
