My sisters single and she may have one income but she only has to pay for her and her tiny dog. Just dinner for my partner and I are going to cost significantly more. And if we’re both making good money then yeah it’s fine. But I would agree that without relationships you have the opportunity to invest more time and money into yourself and your wants. Some people don’t do this, but I would say overall as a single person you have the potential to make more money simply because you’re the only one…

I think our society puts a lot of value on romantic relationships so we see it as something we’re not compete without. There’s nothing wrong with improving yourself to find a partner, but i agree that when you start improving for yourself without that need for external validation you’ll find more comfort and confidence in yourself and it makes people attracted to you whether it’s romantic or not. Im not sure if we’d be able to separate it so easily. Im sure some individuals could easier than oth…

Now I see why you’re so upset 😂

You’re the only one saying pedos here 🤷🏾‍♀️ again why are you fighting so hard for middle aged people to date people 18-24 which is half their age if not more? You seem to be avoiding the question and deflecting but if that’s what you wanna do go for it

The conversation is literally about dating 18-24 year old women. You’re the only one using straw man arguments to make a bad faith point. Why are you fighting so hard for people over 40 to date people who are not even done with college? It’s getting creepy.

The phrase “love is love” isn’t so middle aged men can fuck 18 year olds weirdo. Middle aged men aren’t being oppressed for wanting to dating super young women. They’ve actually been doing that for a long time and continue to do it with little consequence

You’re comparing homosexual relationships to a middle aged person dating someone barely out of high school…wow

I’m literally telling you I don’t think all young women are helpless victims. I said that I think it’s weird for middle aged men to only date women half their age and there are too many instances of the older person manipulating the younger one. It happens to young men all the time and society brushes it off as them “bagging an older woman”. The power imbalance is age and can be applied to both genders

No it means in this case age. There’s a power imbalance between a 40 year old woman and 20 year old guy. And he would be much more susceptible to manipulation than if there wasn’t such a massive age gap. Financial differences can be an example of a power imbalance as well. It’s much easier for someone with financial control over someone to manipulate them.

I would call a 40 year old woman who only dated 18-24 year old men creepy and a predator as well. That’s just not what OP was talking about. I’m talking about a very specific type of older man that prey on young girls and say vulgar things to us. You can be a consenting adult and still be manipulated or coerced. Young people have agency over themselves. But it’s still possible for someone with such a massive power imbalance to be manipulated or taken advantage of. we can recognize how weird it i…

Creepy old men who prey on young women are evil for sure. I like men who don’t do that.

Because the older men who mostly or only dating such young women is what we have a problem with. There’s a massive power imbalance that’s super common in abusive relationships a long with a bunch of evidence documenting it.

It’s weird to be in your 40s and only think women who are barely legal are hot. And yes it does happen. There are so many stories from women who dated much older men and were manipulated and abused. I’m not saying it’s every man who dates young. But there’s a pattern of harmful behavior from older men who only date women who are 18-24

And usually those types of older men who date so young won’t date anyone even close to their age. There are too many that date so young because they see young women as easier to manipulate and they have less expectations

I feel like this is a weird question because it’s entirely based off looks. Everyone’s gonna find different people attractive. We don’t know any of these women of what their personalities are actually like.

I promise you women are constantly shamed for doing what we want as well. Maybe in feminist spaces they say “know your worth” and “don’t settle” but that’s usually in response to it being so normalized for women to do the exact opposite.

Do you really think only men do those jobs? There’s a women’s day off because women forced society to be able to function without them and make men learn domestic labor. There are female pilots, truckers, laborers, etc

None of your experiences are invalid by any means. And you’re struggles are real and valid. My partners is a white male and grew up extremely poor and troubled. But these things had nothing to do with him being a white male. It was very much an issue of class and mental health. While my parents grew up poor in the projects of New York as a direct result of being immigrants of color. My partner also grew up in a household that taught him anger was the only emotion and founded itself on toxic masc…

It’s not natural for women to find displays of femininity weak in mean. That’s literal a result of the patriarchy and an example of how women uphold it. Saying that the patriarchy was created by men isn’t me shifting blame towards men. I think both men and women need accountability when it comes to this topic. I just don’t think it makes sense to essentially blame male loneliness on women because we’ve created spaces for community that men haven’t.

It’s relevant because only if we acknowledge the history can we move forward. Those systems that those men created forever ago are still in place and men today benefit from it whether they chose to or not. This argument sounds like when white people say they’re not responsible for racism because they didn’t own slaves. But their ancestors created the systems that still harm poc and benefit white people. Poc didn’t create that. Just like the patriarchal standards we’re taught, we have to consciou…

I’ve said multiple times that women are capable of upholding harmful patriarchal standards. All of us are influenced by the systems that have been in place for generations. I just don’t think that men or women as a whole are to blame for men not being able to comfortable express emotions. The cause of that is the patriarchal society we live in. It’s also not untrue that those standards were created by men generations ago. And today it’s upheld by both men and women. But op is singling out women …

I never said that the patriarchy didn’t effect men. I actually said the opposite. But the patriarchy was created by men in power to keep them in power. My feminism is for everyone including men. My issue is when y’all are so combative and refuse to acknowledge men’s role in the situation. I’ve acknowledge that women aren’t perfect and are very capable of upholding patriarchal standards.

A lot of things are caused because we live in a patriarchal society. “Men are better at acquiring power” no men are good at taking power and keeping it. The reason you feel the blame shifting towards men is because men created the patriarchy and misogyny. It doesn’t mean we have to hate and destroy men. But a little accountability would be nice. Not all women’s problems are men’s problems. But the ones caused by misogyny are. Also class, gender, race are all tied together thanks to white suprema…

Did you read what I wrote or just decide to be condescending? Do you know how misogyny works? Or the patriarchy? I never said women are saints. We’re also capable of upholding the patriarchy and toxic standards. But this system of oppression that hinders both men and women were caused by men

These things aren’t caused by women. It’s caused by the patriarchy. And guess who created that? Men. And I won’t say there aren’t women who continue to enforce and uphold it because there are. But women didn’t force men to be angry. The patriarchy did that. It’s not women’s responsibility to solve men’s loneliness when we’ve been conditioned to prioritize them for generations. When the root cause of these problems are misogyny, it feels weird to shift the blame solely towards women. It’s not our…
