There is this TV series/book called Ways of Seeing and one of the topics it discusses is how women are portrayed in art. One of the main take aways was that women were always being looked at in art and were in a way performing, while men were just sort of portrayed as men. There were very few examples where this wasn't the case. If you look at the way our society portrays women it's often the same. Yeah. I think op has a point though. I feel that now more than ever women are realizing and embracing the fact that men will pursue them with gusto.

I went for the cheesiness and I was not disappointed. You know that moment in pretty much every mech anime type show where the giant robot whips out an epic sword to save the day. Yeah, its that awesome.

Going further off topic. Read/watch Ways of Seeing by John Berger. It deals with the way women are objectified at great length and will definitely shed some light on the way things are portrayed in art and the media.
