They think we’re a challenge and thus “taming” us is a MAJOR ego boost.

They also like to use your accomplishments for bragging rights. I’m a PhD student and my LVM ex used to brag to his friends about it. Of course, he talked down to me in private and tried to undermine me where he could.

Yes, I remember she did leave him, thankfully. I really hope she’s getting the support she needs now.

The fact that they can have a kid and not “know about it” isn’t an excuse. If anything, that’s a bigger reason for men not to behave like sluts.

Exactly. And if you’re not okay with it you’re a witch, apparently. They think it’s totalllllly okay to force a woman into a motherhood role without her consent.

Yeah, we are all capable of paying for our own things and most, if not all of the women active on this sub are high achievers. You’re still missing the point. It’s not that we can’t afford to pay our own way, it’s that men who are invested want to be generous. It also costs way more for women to live well and live safely so a guy who can’t or won’t be generous is essentially demanding that you invest in him disproportionately. Read the handbook again.

It might help if you read the handbook.

Exactly! He’s mad at you because you used your judgement and didn’t have kids you didn’t want and can’t take care of? Amazing how they think we owe them something for their inability to plan their lives.

I made the mistake of dating a single dad. He talked about how much his kids meant to him while shirking his responsibilities and complaining about how awful his ex was without ever pointing to anything specific. He also really seemed to begrudge me my “free time”. I’m ashamed to say it took me a couple of months to dump him but the experience taught me a valuable lesson.

Even very attractive men can’t. I have a tall and super handsome male friend who shared his “number” and it wasn’t high. He said men who claim to have a ton of sex are either lying or paying for it.

There is a thread right now on AITA in which a pregnant woman who had a hard time dealing with the fact that her husband had fathered a child 6 years prior and didn’t even know is being shamed for daring to express her upset. The man, however, is given a total pass. Time to start holding slutty men accountable.

I think maybe it might help to edit your OP to reflect this position. It did register as victim-blaming. This sort of practice has been normalized for many young women and many of us are unlearning and dealing with the repercussions. We are responsible for what we do but we are not responsible for men posting pics as revenge porn, blackmailing us, etc.

This is sort of an oversimplification of anthropology and anthropological approaches. The contemporary scholarship goes far beyond the uncritical cultural relativism you and u/natashaalexandra describe here. The contributions of feminist anthropology are legion and enabled moves away from paternalism in medicine, for example.

Me too! I love long, muscular legs. I look at legs, face, hair, and shoulders, in that order.

Same. I have a preference for men 3-5 years younger. I would never date older men, it makes sense biologically 😏

They also have high rates of infidelity and porn use. Sexual abuse is also rampant in the LDS community.

I would even suggest that men who whine about men’s health in general are deliberately ignoring that medicine treats male issues as the default and women’s issues as secondary and less important.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
