Same here, but in the UK. By best mate's girlfriend came to visit when I was at college. She tried to have sex with me. I refused. I later found out that she'd had a huge argument with my friend and hoped to get back at him by cheating with me. A few weeks later I found she was telling people back home that I had assaulted or raped her. I had many of the same experiences as you: People threatened me with violence. I lost a lot of friends. I was barred from my local pub. Her story escalated the m…

They couldn’t even vote before male slaves! I mean, this is just a lie. The emancipation proclamation was in 1863, women got universal voting rights in 1920. There were no slaves voting before all women could.

Tuner problem with the film is simple: by remaking it and replacing the men with women it implies that there was something wrong with having men in the original and it needed repaired.

That's nothing. Women are exempt from the rape law in the UK. I'm not joking.

To be fair, women are exempt from the rape law in the UK.

She lied to him about being on birth control and he tried to throw her off during intercourse. It's very clear that he didn't consent to sex or to fatherhood.

So she passed you and you ran after her? Someone should definitely have called the police "to be on the safe side".

Are you aware that actually the dodgy looking one on your story is you? You were following a young girl around, keeping pace with her, running to make sure to keep her in sight. By your rationale, presumably you would have been perfectly happy to be stopped and questioned by a paranoid stranger, and then reported to the police?

You get companionship, you get a person to help you when you are having a difficult time and much more. No, some people get that. Plenty of people get someone they have little or nothing in common with because one or both partners changed competely over time. When you turn 30, almost every socializing is done with couples. Just a fact of life. And unmarried people can't socialise with couples? Don't be silly. I'm married and have single, married and divorced friends who I see all the time.

From Wikipedia: "Confidence is generally described as a state of being certain either that a hypothesis or prediction is correct or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective." I think real certainty has to come from personal experience that the course is effective. So confidence (certainty) follows experience that you are attractive. As a side note, having gone from a skinny, weedy reject to something a bit more palatable in my own time, I can say this is painfully true!

I was raised by a feminist. My mother was - and I presume, still is - a feminist. She never went to any marches, never burned a bra, although that was the visible face of feminism in the seventies when I was born. She was quiet, a school teacher like my dad. She wasn't visibly angry or confrontational in any way. But still, she was a feminist. And she approached parenting from that perspective. You might wonder how this works, this quiet feminist approach. Well the most obvious factor and the on…

As far as I know there is no actual evidence - and by that I mean proper controlled scientific studies - which show that pornography consumption causes decreased dopamine sensitivity. The articles I see claiming this are all anti-masturbation and contain no citations. If you have some I'd very much like to see them. To take this one step further, "pornography addiction" is not a medical condition. It is not listed in the DSM-IV and the APA do not recognise it as a real disorder, nor do their mem…

The opposite scenario can also be true - a mother may interfere inappropriately and attempt to stop or spoil her son's sex life. This comes from the same root of wanting to control his sexuality. My own mother was a fairly hard-line feminist and she exercised her control in this indirect way. She'd search my room while I was at school hoping to find scraps of pornography which were all I had access to (this was pre-internet). She never enacted her abuse personally, but had my father do it in her…

Yes, flirting at work could be problematic, as could sex. It's also incredibly exciting, risky, difficult and rewarding. The best scenario is that you get great sex, great fun and the boost of knowing you can pull off a great connection, not in some shitty bar where everyone wants fucked, at your work where that's furthest from most peoples minds. I can see why that prospect would scare some people. But those people probably have as much trouble finding jobs as they do finding sex. Not someone I…
